Nice effort there!
Quoting Wintersong, reply 32If you are going to talk about card design, please avoid MtG. L5R owns (I miss being able to play or collect my Battle Maidens ). Also, the ones I saw in that pic for the magic screen were nice (for starters?) so I hope for some really flavored cards for the different things. It would be sweet!!! Never heard of this L5R, what is it? What's wrong with the style of cards from Magic:TG? <br
As for the plot, I'm definitely in favor of playing a nation over an individual but I think that's not the way the game is headed.
The nation is existentially tied to the individual
I believe in the ressurection, although in my version he was simply mistaken for dead and recovered....
Am I just ignorant, or do the 'Segways' under the swarm of cops look like some combat and/or knockoff version? I don't recall having seen the semi-squatting posture before, and it kinda looks like the riders' shins are bearing weight or maybe a secondary guidance input. The latter seems more plausible given the rifles...
They are a bit different...
thanks for the info.. it should help devs figure out what is wrong....
yes
I'm thinking 3, because I doubt I would enjoy setting up the guards, but 2 could be fun anywyay.. We were talking in IRC one day about building cities in such a way that the walls of the city will guard much of the length of the roads... It was pretty good conversation.
To be clear, is essense like mana? so to build a new city is almost the equivalent of casting a major spell? Might it be a good strategy to attack some-one's caster right after they build a new city?
Essence is like Mana except you can't gain it back... You gain some by leveling, but cannot regain spent essence. YOu gain a certain number per level up. So your total mana will be something like X*level .
I never thought someone would find a replacement for the bear cavalry but here it is! THe segway cavalry...
I doubt we're going to get an 'I.W.I.N.' spell
Actually, that's one of the victory conditions. "The spell of making" roughly defined as the "I.W.I.N." spell.
Quoting Nights Edge, reply 14The idea of Sovereigns only being vulnerable on attack is interesting, I reckon it probably has some tactical implications on top of making players feel secure. Armies with a Sovereign in might jink for position or try to slip past the enemy's main forces to go after softer targets. Not sure if that would be good or bad. Some alternative ideas: A lives system, including buying lives back. <br /
Or for those in the know "Tragic:The Garnering"....
YOu should feel lucky! THe current beta is just a pain in the glutes..

(and most computer games, really) Not if it's seeded in such a way that you will always get the same result within the same game, no matter what. *At least for things like this* If the sovreign dies while attacking, a player can always reload, if the death hapens while the AI
Quoting Raven X, reply 19 An idea that comes to my mind is a losing kingdom deciding to open a door to the underworld to make a deal with a demon. There's a chance the Demon ends up going to war For the kingdom that set it free. Or, there's a chance the Demon goes to war On the kingdom that summoned it. After it destroys them it sets about rampaging the lands until some army or hero put it down and send it back to hell. U
BK I'm pretty sure the armies and towns aren't going to disappear.. Although I'm pretty sure that the towns need the protection of a sovereign to survive. Towns not already conquered by you are likely to choose a new sovereign (They need someone to keep their territory habitable) and the Family tree seems to be where they're looking at going for deciding whom they choose to ally with.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 42Some good ideas here. We're digesting them now. Good to hear Brad. Please consider implementing an additional Sovereign system also, because the one what we have "now" won't be very popular amongst many players. [The proposed dynasty/successor system for example sounds very good, as an alternative.] Either way: The key of this "secondary" Sovereign system must be: Play on after the original
Clearly a button to continue playing right on the victory screen is the solution. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ "Congratulations you've won!" [stats] [keep playing] [next] \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
I like C as well, especially if you can design units via equipping them with things that break the rules. I think making sure we have the ability to create rulebreaking units is important to unit diversity. If we're only deciding attack/defense and hitpoints then the idea is just to make the best we can. For example creating a unit with a "first strike" like ability that allows them to attack first whether they are defenders or attackers. EDIT: <p

And as Frogboy himself said, it won't have bugs that make your hard-drive crash or install rootkits on your system. he was joking, of course
Yes he was joking of course it will have rootkits and hard drive frying bugs.
framerate makes that unwatchable.
