I really enjoy these reports. I used one as a reference in a paper for once my classes last fall.
Quoting KellenDunk, reply 12 This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Risk's only economy is based on how much land you control. TO suggest that it should be a simulation is silly. Land generates troops. Complete continent holding generates troops. Card turn-ins generate troops. This is economy in Risk. You may not be used to playing with the card rules, but it makes Risk a lot more fun for people in
is that a horseman dead on the floor?
Quoting KellenDunk, reply 1there is no real need for you to go to all that work There is EVERY reason she should go through all that effort. I personally love this idea. I'd use it all the time.
I was just saying there are already tools available to do exactly what is suggested by this mod of elemental.
The economics associated with "jiffy-pop" armies from risk are so ludicrous as to even give congress pause. The cards add an element of strategy to blitzing other players, but detach it from reality to a very great extent. Certainly the card collection rule was obviated by machine guns and explosive shell artillery, or WWI would have played out way differently. One thing I love is building units, and that just does not
Quoting KellenDunk, reply 37That's why you're running the list and I am not. If you really want to list my slime colony mod you can Well if I had any idea what your slime colony mod is I would
The idea is that you control a colony of slime monsters who are trying to protect their home from invading parties of DnD style adventurers seeking treasure. If you want me to create an indiv
I think he should go fight that dragon
The problem with risk is it is too focused on luck, and not focused on... well, anything else. There is a little bit of strategy, such as heavily defending bottlenecks, or spreading all your guys out 2 to a country rather than 1 so its harder to steam roll. But for the most part it all bows to dice. If you have rotten luck, 1 guy who keeps rolling 5s and 6s will flatten your 40 troop army. (I've seen it happen) [/qu
So kellen, you arn't advertising your slime mod here?
Maybe once I actually get to start working on it. I think it will be fun, but I also think this list is a bit early.
no, but one of the participants hasn't taken his turn.
It still does not look like what I am after =P Made a quick battle screen mockup to just solidify some things in my head.
That's cool, I really like maptool, and projecting it on the wall is exactly how I use it. I have two maps going one for them (projected) and one for me so I can hide things from them. Mockup looks good.
You can find scripts to handle just about every aspect of most roleplay systems.
Im sure your talking about the book in which he was trapped in the Old world, I believe he had lost his memories, and was living with Nicci? trust me, while he does spend that book being an idealogical blabbermouth, thats hardly cannon as far as empire building or questing is concerned. It just seemed to be a wasted book. The bible is the best selling book, and they don't include books that don't fit. We don't have to consider books
What I meant was that the Sword of Truth series eventually becomes simply a manifesto of American Conservatism. Every "Good" character pretty much loses their identity and they all spend five pages at a time complaining about how ever deciding to help a poor person enslaves them, It gets really really really annoying. Mr. Goodkind destroyed what WAS an engaging story in order to push an ideology. His characters all became the same as well, they started out unique and i
"Sword of Truth"
What a fun game that would be. What!? You aren't an extreme American Conservative? I must cut you!
there is no real need for you to go to all that work, check out maptool http://rptools.net/
This is where I would drop a horse from 200feet onto the top of porter's head, ending his character's life LOL..
Here's one: Once upon a time, there were neanderthals. Then came a better suited race of men, homo sapiens sapiens, and they completely wiped out the neanderthals. Sorry if it's not a story, it's just reality.
You're wrong, it was the Cro-Magnon that eradicated the neanderthal.
. I wonder in the "are you sure" box what the "not your environment type" means? Are there going to be nations who thrive better in the snow or the desert i wonder?
So, it will be like HoMM, rather than Total War? Stacks rather than individual soldiers?
the further in you zoom the more individuals can be seen.
Now, by my reckoning essentially what the OP is asking for is a variation on the Warhammer system
And the whole reason the Warhammer system was created was to make a system in which it wasn't likely that your characters would survive more than a couple play sessions...
this could be loads of fun, but with school work the toddler and the new baby I don't think I have the time for it. It's a wonderful idea to run analog prototypes for games.
quoting post That doesn’t mean that the battle system won’t be heavily modified to be richer than we currently have it but it does mean that we will not have cutting versus slashing damage. OK -- but then you WILL need to have something to allow for unit countering. CivIV, Dom3, WCIII, SC, AoW, etc. -- all have unit types to which they adhere (e.g. CivIV "knight" and "tank") and unit families (e.g. "mel
Good post, but isn't the word "Hellenic"?
