I don't think balance could ever alter the scope of the game. Scope would be how the economy works, how quests work, magic etc. As you said balance is how much resources a veridium long sword takes to make.
This is true, but, some cases of units being extremely over-powered, or monsters, etc etc, could in my opinion "alter the course of a game". Perhaps not the scope of the Entire game as a whole, but for that part
Personally Im more into small scale gameplay... like... 2 player co-op gameplay. World of Warcraft is perfect for this. I find most other MMOs don't really support that kind of thing. Which is why we havn't tried STO yet (and the fact it was rushed faster than a fat kid to a cake store).
For small groups, STO is perfect. As long as you like the gameplay. The Starship combat is great. The planet-side ground battles and on foot

Steam and Impulse are DIRECT COMPETITORS. Elemental will Never be released on Steam. Period. Stardock would rather have people download and install Impulse so they can buy Elemental. Not further along the success of their competition. Elemental on Steam? Not gonna happen......Ever. Unless of course Impulse fails and Stardock closes it's doors. Then "maybe" you might see Stardock Games selling on other services. Maybe .

There was a short span of Human History where we, Modern Humans, and Cro-Magnon man, co-existed. We forcibly hunted them down and wiped them out and also interbred with them. Occasionally, even today, genetic throw-backs are born. Have you ever been walking down the street and seen a person with a very pronounced and sloping forehead? This

It's fun for a while but it's not what I'd call a "Real MMO". There's Way Too Much "Instancing". Even on the large Starbases you can only have 25-50 players at a time. The ship battles are the best part but even that gets old pretty quick. I was so stoked for STO, but Craptic/Cryptic ruined it. I would say hold off until the game is ridiculously cheap. I still get the urge to play every now and then. Luckily a friend of mine bought a lifetime sub and gave me the account info so when I

All new idea posts Added 6/9/2010. Note: I haven't been feeling well the last couple days. Worse then usual. I'm not sure if it's just another Crohn's Flare-up or if it's getting closer to me needing to go to the Emergency room and possibly not come back out for a week or more. I have no health insurance currently so the only way the Hospital will operate on me is if I go in when something inside me bursts (assuming I manage to make it there in time). Just a little for-warning in case
As Humans, we are all fascinated by certain things. Certain Mysteries of life that we may never solve. Like "What happens after we die?". As we all know, different Religions have varying different beliefs on what happens after we die. Another Human fascination is Destruction. We Love to create things. Many of us though have the same need to see what we create be destroyed. These Human Fascinations, to Create and to Destroy, these are two side of the same coin. Most people don't realize that.
