F'Kin AWESOME!!! Downloading now...Initiating Program...WTFPWN on Multi-player :) Who's ready? ;)
RavenX
Thanks, my friends :) I got it all downloaded. I'll give it a go later this evening some time most likely. As for the Wiki, thanks Bill. I'll take a look at it too....after I try the game a few times on my own first. There hasn't been a game made I couldn't figure out on my own before needing to turn to a instruction manual or Wiki. If for some reason I can't figure it out though I'll have to go check the Wiki. :)
Man... EXACTLY!!! I honestly don't understand how people get into DF. Like you said, the game-play and complexity sounds pretty cool, but the graphics are, quite simply, brutal. Reduced 44% Original 1282 x 769
Actually, (though Tormy is right that is Old) , that is a "mock-up" , if I'm not mistaken. It's not a "Real" picture of combat. Note: It's " possible " I'm wrong and that is a Real
Bill, what is that "Stonesense" thing? If DF would play with graphics like that I think I could get into it. As we all know graphics aren't important, at least not as important as game-play. I do like the game-play of DF, and the depth of things you can do, it's the ASCII look that kills me. It's not that I don't like looking at it, it's just that it's too hard to figure out what things stand for too me. Even if it had the look of Dom 1 or 2 I could deal with it and most likely get in
"Soon"
Would that be "Soon" as in a couple more hours or "Soon" as in Later Tonight, probably closer to Midnight :P ? Then again "Soon" could even mean "Things f'ked up, maybe this weekend or next week". It just all depends on what you call "Soon". lol
That brings back my childhood! That is cool, I don't remember the songs so much other than I just subconsciously absorbed it after 5 times through the game! Do they say where it was recorded?
It was a music show at a college some-where. Not sure which one honestly. I'm not registered on the site so I don't see the 94 comments the video has. They might say. If I just kick back and close my eyes and listen to this...I
What the hell are you guys going on about up there with your Amiga graphics? Some kinda multiplayer thing? What's this? Dwarf Fortress right? That's multiplayer? Or are you doing a turn-by-mail thing?

LoL nice ones Tormy :)
Great idea! But.... "Some of my best friends have been gay." did you kill them after you found out? did you force them to stop. or did they just stop on their own after you beat them up.... "they have been gay".... hmmm doesn't help your case. And who doesn't love lesbians... Just joking.... but the quest idea sounds really awesome!
<p

Went to the link and watched it though, very cool. :)
Well, because those are Elemental Monsters, I say Cool!!! But the little dance there...um...yeah...kinda gay :P Put it in somewhere as a "Easter Egg" though. Maybe one of those Ultra Rare Quests :) Quest: Local Monsters in your Kingdom/Empire are holding a Dance Competition, you, my Lord, have been asked to judge this competition. Shall I say you will preside over the event Sire? If you choose "Yes", you watch the monsters dance. You pick a "Winner", but, the o
Quoting Zozz, reply 47 I know the first beta was supposed to be all paper cuts and lemon juice, so I am just wondering if Beta 2 is supposed to be somewhat fun or just more of the arduous masochism we have been promised up until now. BETA 2 is supposed to be all open wounds and salt, lots of salt.
Nope. This is where it actually starts to get... Fun .
If you don't like this, there's just something wrong with you... They hit a couple rough spots. It's not perfect, but they do one hell of a job. They run the range from old school game to a few songs that aren't as well known. Watching this was probably the best 6 minutes of my day (night actually).
Man...I did all that work on that kick ass post on the 1st page...now you guys are gonna drift it all off into laalaa land.. :P . I like Sci-Fi as much as the next guy, really. I'm a huge Trekkie. I'd honestly love to see our technology get there some day. I just don't think it's likely. Why? Human greed. Even in the face of a world ending disaster Greed will be a factor.
Quoting Raven X, reply 20 I would like to think that too, but.... Even if we manage to get off the Earth, if we don't leave our Solar System before the Sun either goes "Super-Nova" or becomes a "Dwarf", we're all still screwed. That will easily happen. Our sun isn't going to become a red giant and consume the Earth for another 5 billion years. We already have a general idea on how to create a wormhole to

As we begin to come to terms with the honest realization that our lives must end, we think more about the creation of new life and the want to know that life will go on after we are gone, and that we will be remembered.
How old is that video? Because Boston Dynamics, the company that made that LittleDog (the robot in that video), also has a much larger version, BigDog, that is designed for military use, specifically carrying heavy stuff over difficult terrain. http://www.youtube.com/BostonDynamics (How do you embed video, by the way?) I put this in the "Personal Computing" Section because, well, it's got a lot to do with "Computing". Anyway, the next generation of intelligent walking machines has arrived. Check this out. Now This is Impressive. It won't be long before we'll be seeing viable models and military applications. Not too mention space exploration. How sweet is

If it comes this week it will most likely be tomorrow. The only thing I've seen them release on Fri and Sat are patches to previously released Beta.
