Something I noticed in Elemental which is the same as Gal Civ 2 is you'll be able to "specialize" cities by the types of buildings you build in them. Let me explain by going over a part of Gal Civ 2 real quick. In Gal Civ 2 I had 3 main colony (In Elemental Cities) "types". Colonies that brought in money, colonies that did research, and colonies that made my fleets. One "type" had almost nothing but buildings that made money (Planetary Exchanges), another type had nothing but factorie
So many people mentioning MOM, and this being MOM2, yet Stardock has officially said that Elemental is NOT MOM2. They were in negotiations over the lisence with Atari, but it seems like they didn't get it. And not there are rumors about Atari planing MOM2. Hell, Stardock has even informed us all Elemental is NOT MOM2. http://tgnforums.stardock.com/?aid=165429 or have a read at http://www.masterofmagic2.com/<br /

I can see a use for a Ton of Map Filters and tabs for them. Perhaps even check boxes. You can filter out or in any element you'd like. Some examples would be to toggle City Names, Locations, Shards, Monsters, Enemies (other Sovereigns), Vassals. The list can go on and on. That shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Edit: Ok, I just fired it up, hit the intro and immediately clicked my mouse...and went straight to the main menu with no problems at all. I swear I tested it 6 or 7 times in a row before I made my first post in this thread.....LoL. That, ladies and gentlemen, is why it's called a Beta. False alarm, my bad. Sorry for the Double Post.

I like the Intro, I do. It's a well placed joke by Stardock and I watch it every time I start a game. I wondered though if you could skip past it by hitting the button "Enter or Space" to get to the main menu before the Intro ends. Sadly if I hit the button early, or click my mouse, the game CTD's to desktop. I have to wait at least until the yellow lettering appears before I can hit a button and get to the main menu. Hitting a button before then will cause a CTD Every Time. I've tested it an

It would be intriguing to have the PC become a vassal to the AI. In most games when that happens you lose automatically. It would be nice to have a game where doing that doesn't always mean you lose. Great idea. +1 to you for a good idea.

We already know your children can become "Heroes" so I'm assuming you get to control them as units on the map like you do with the Sovereign and your armies. I could be jumping the gun there and be way off base. Maybe you can't directly control your offspring. I'm pretty sure we'll be able to though. How come you wouldn't want the heir to inherit any magical powers too? The heir would have to become the empires new Channeler for you to keep playing. That should mean he/she would have

@ Astrath: Good ideas as well. Resurrection should Not be cheap in any way. It should be a limited high level ability. Not only would you need to be able to build the correct buildings to make it possible but you would have to cover the casting cost as well. I think it should have a timer on it as well to prevent over-use. Perhaps one of the material components could be something that's limited. Maybe a flower that only bl

That would make a lot of sense. If the Sovereign dies then his powers can flow into his eldest Child or "Chosen Heir" if you can switch or chose which heir gets the power. They can become immortal in the process. I like that idea too.

For being a immortal the Sovereign sure does die a lot [e digicons]:P[/e] Ok, to harken back to the days of MoM. (Yes I'm totally about to rip off a MoM idea). I don't think the Sovereign should die as long as he still has towns on the map. Perhaps limit that to only if the Sovereign has a "Rejuvenation Chamber" in that city. You can change that to anything you want as a building requirement *coughMageTowercough*. ;) For an excuse as to why that should be possible? Well, you e
I don't think it makes much difference whether factions look different based on clothing styles or body designs. What I'm hoping to see most is AIs (with agendas based in the back story) that make as much or more of a difference in game play as any blunt instruments like a faction bonus for agility or mana production.
I agree with your idea, but, there is one downfall to that. If certain characters always have the same goal

This may be a little off topic but a few years ago I saw this documentary on a bunch of Monks who lived in a Monastery in Italy. They made wine and most of them had taken a vow of silence. The thing I liked most about it was that even though they couldn't talk out loud they did have a means of communication. They had been given a bunch of computers as donations and one of the things they had was on-line service. All the monks who couldn't talk out loud used Instant Messaging services to talk

No! No! NO! End the beta and give me a finished product A.S.A.P. That's right. I went against the tide. Call me greedy or impatient, I don't mind. I'm both those things. I want the Awesomeness that is Elemental Now [e digicons][/e] Note: Yes, I plan on testing the Beta and Yes, I plan on having a Lot of input and ideas, but, those ideas can always be implemented in a patch or expansion.
Quoting Tormy-, reply 43 While we are at it, what does "Gameplay Skeleton" means exactly? Stardock sends over one of their necromancers to separate the skeleton and soul of the beta tester from the body. The now merged skeleton and soul is then given specific amounts of death magic to remain animated. The necromancer arrives unannounced and first time beta testers will somet

Assumeing I can scrape up the money to buy before beta entry closes I PLAN on being the most active beta tester you've got. Because of certain health issues I won't go into I don't have much of a life right now so all I can do pretty much is sit on my rear and play computer games. Go ahead and send me that NDA now if you want :P
