which makes me curious as to what the currency of spell research will be. Anyone want to speculate?
I imagine the more Crystal Shards you have, the more Universities you build, and maybe how many Crystal Mines you have. I'm sure there will be a few other buildings that contribute as well. Maybe a Mage Tower.
Space Empires V has a few sliders to help. You can select that all of the AI's work together against you, and give them boosts (ie resource cheats). The game has a nice ship design function, where you pick the different components, not build the ship itself. You have to build different ships for different rolls or you'll never succeed.
That's what i was thinking...a similar approach to the spell-creation system in Oblivion. Mike
If you need a hand with more detailed balancing I'd be happy to volunteer my services. I used to design Spells, Items with Spell Like Abilities, and Skill sets for UO (Ultima Online). I have about 3 years actual experience designing these for use on the Official Servers as a GM and Seer.
Raven X has entered the game. Just waiting to be placed on the map :)
just a thought! And dont focus on me calling it karma. I couldt think of a better name.
Maybe "Mana" or "Essence". That would be a good way to balance the spell creation system. Have it cost Essence to create spells. The stronger the spell, the more effects or attributes you add to the spell, the more Essence it costs.
Elemental has a very nice "Fantasy Cell Shaded" look to it. Also they are using a trick they picked up in the Gal Civ series to fit better textures that use less memory onto high polygon models. It looks good. It's not photo-realistic but it still has a awesome feel to it that I think will stand up to the test of time.
Don't feel stupid mate. You'll get in during the next stage of the Beta. Welcome aboard.
Do you want a Hard Game that's seriously into strategy? Try "Hearts of Iron 3". It's one of the most in depth games I've ever come across. It's Serious Hard Core strategy. Maybe see if there's a Demo out before you rush out and buy it to see if you like it.
Are there any news on which other sites than Steam will have this? Other DD outlets is bordering on being slightly diffuse
Have you thought about pre-ordering from the game's web site directly? I haven't looked into it yet but they might have a option like Elemental did to buy the digital download And have a boxed copy shipped to you. You know, every time I watch the video for this game I think "man I wish Elemental's
The question was raised in one of my posts in the Elemental Ideas forums (post Here ) about the editors used in the game. We know some editors like the Building Editor can be used "on the fly" while playing a game. When you make a building you can chose to re-design every aspect of it if you want before you place it in game. You can also use the "Troop Editor" to custom make your armies from in game. You don't have to exit your game to desi

It's a well known fact that all game developers get a permanent +5 Bonus to their "befuddlement", "confusion", and "illusion" skills for the duration of their careers. They are also born with those skills and if they need to train them it only cost them half the experience points necessary.....lol.<

Otherwise I'll delete this post to avoid confusion. I'll also describe some of my moves in advance in case I miss a post and so I don't miss a turn. ] TURN 1 Descending from the mountains, the Grey Paladin gathers
Any game that has you researching Shields while you research Weapons has basically the same mechanic. Actually lots of games do this where you research multiple things at the same time by dividing a pool of research points. Only in Elemental these two things will have separate screens. No biggie. I actually like that they are divided a Lot. Magic is a very big thing in this game and it deserves to be deep and should definitely have it's own mechanics. Spell research its-self could eve
I'm not so sure about this. Buying a mid-high level card is usually a good idea, but absolute top of the line is a mistake. That Geforce 8800 Ultra cost $500+ two years ago, but is now worse than a $150 GTX 260. Generally better to buy two steps back and pay half as much, and then buy a new one two years later. Not only are you ending up with a better card for the same money, you renew your warranty and might even be able to
I thought it would be useful to have a thread for those who will be keeping up on the Elemental Pen and Paper game Frogboy is starting. Feel free to talk strategy with those playing or just talk about it in general. Also you could make bets or root for your favorite player. (the smart money is on that Raven guy ;)). Oh, had an idea. It might take a minute but seeing as how the paper is in a grid it could have number and letter coordinates, I.E. A1, A2, A3, etc etc like the board game "Battleship". That could make it easier to move around the map in a situation like this. Just a thought. Note: Sorry for the double post.
I'm ready when you are boss. Need a little info first. How much can we do on our first turn or per turn? Is it like this?: Move Sovereign 5 paces east, build city. ? I see 4 pieces on your map there. There should be 5 right? Also, I thought you were playing with us? :) This looks very interesting. I can't wait to kill you all :). Can we Ally with each other, do some limited research etc etc? If we have enough prestige can we obtain more then one drago

Oooh. Here's a few tips everyone playing should know. I ripped them off of Tom Chicks post a few pages after the one Mauxe pointed out. (thanks for the site Mauxe) 1) Since I'd rolled up a Dalish elf - they're the outdoorsy variety - I figured I'd bump up her herbalism skill to keep my party in potions. Only later did I realize that one of the NPCs you can't miss starts out with the second level of herbalism. And unlike poison-making, which limits who can actually use poisons as well
