is it possible to have two very well designed combat systems
X-Com Apocalypse did this very well. It had two modes that battles could be played in. True Turn Based mode, or a live mode where you paused the game to give orders. You don't see very many games these days that give you the option to do Both. Yet another way the old school X-Com games are stomping all over modern technology and making it look bad. Either that or they just make mo
Anyone else having problems where the game just hangs up either during battle or immediately after? Are these the problems you were mentioning, Raven?
Yeap. It's still only happened to me a few times though.
I wish it were so, good man. On the PC, the game is integrated with Steam, like Dawn of War 2 and Empire: Total War. Doesn't matter where you preorder from, you'll get a "steam-powered" game. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1045236 http://www.vg247.com/2009/08/20/avp-will-use-steam-cloud-have-18-way-multiplay-four-way-co-op/
Ahh, I see now. I thought you ment it
However, I think that AvP3 is a Steam exclusive,
No way. You can pre-order at Gamestop already I think. This game's going to be huge, multiplatform as well I think. They won't limit it to Steam.

The Who are awesome. I thought they we're a little old to be playing a live show, but I guess not. Classic music is the best though. When I learned to play guitar I learned on classics. Smoke on the Water, old Led Zep, Lynyrd Skynyrd. classic rock. Then I moved up to what I was listening to at the time, Pearl Jam, Nirvana (it was the 90's).

I think the game looks pretty good. They are really sticking to the abilities of each race and making them play differently. This could be a lot of fun if they do it right and the balancing is handled correctly.
I personally hope they will not hold tech back to a medieval level. I would like to see some civilitions delelope high tech/low magic while others have High Magic/low tech.
I'd really rather Not see guns and tanks and planes in this game. Maybe for a total conversion mod or something, but not in the base game.
I don't like D&D rules because armor doesn't absorb damage. I've never understood the reasoning there...
It's been more then a few years, but if I remember correctly, the old system was more about "deflection". Your armor kept you from getting hit entirely. The higher (or was it lower?) your AC, the harder it was to hit the character. Note: After all the years I played old school D&D I'm ashamed
But very nice review Raven, enjoyed the read much! Oh, and I didn't understand your recruitment part..do you mean you can recruit armies without knights having to be at the actual village?
Yes, you can. Just right click on a village (after you're able to recruit) and you can train more troops. Without a Knight to lead them though the army can't move. Glad you liked the review, Razgon.
"don't you insult and degrade people by taking away their right to choose for themselves".
Amen to that. Too often, society, in it's high and morally right self, takes it upon it's-self to govern what it thinks is best for everyone. We are all different. We all have different tastes, wants, and desires. We are not copies of each other. It should always be upon each individual to decide what is best for them and society and wh

There's definitely a good argument here. I'm surprised a dev hasn't responded to this yet, but, then again they are just now starting to look at the battle engine so a lot of these decisions could be up in the air still. If that's the case then we'll have to wait and try it out before we can really say what they have planned won't work. I don't like things being too random either though so I think a bell curve would be a pretty good idea. Then again I don't see why they don't just take

Haha so true. The worst are Teenage girls and OLD women. Florida roads are chalked full of both them. It's driving hell.
This was pretty cheesy and ineffective at preventing sneak attacks.
Cari, sneak attacks Are going to be possible in Elemental, right? They better be, or at least they Should Be . Betraying a Alliance or Non-Aggression Pact at a key moment can be a very effective Strategy. It may be dirty and underhanded, but if yours is the only nation left alive after such a tactic is employed, it's you writing the history books anyway. If some kind of sneak atta

I mainly wanted to let all the Dragon Age lovers know I found a game I like even better. Also, I read your review and you are spot on. I would imagine anyone looking forward to Elemental would at least find a few hours enjoyment from this game.
No worries brother. Plenty of thunder to go around :). I do
