Bottom line: the use of language has degenerated. Anyone in sales, (and many other 'professions' feel it is quite acceptable to cable something it is not in an attempt to get under a prospect's radar. When done impersonally, from a phone boiler room type place, it gets worse. You can't get at the person calling. They are a poorly paid drone following a script. Sad. Sad for us, sad for the drones calling using a script. I gave u

Weather is not the same as climate. Climate changes do cycle. There have been several ice ages, and several warmer interludes. Are we in another interglacial interlude? I don't know - nor does it probably matter to me, or any of our descendents. Variations in our distance from the sun, albedo of the earth, percentage of ice cover, cloud cover, minor variations in orbit, etc., all affect the amount of total energy from sun that remains in the biosphere/tropo

I grew up with JG as a fav television actor. Rockford Files is dated, but still a series with stories that show a humane heart expressed in the midst of a corrupt, violent, and selfish world. I know little of his personal life. But the characters he chose to portray are welcome additions to my life. I will miss him, and what he would have done had he a longer and healthier life. PS. yes, space cowboys was a good flick, as well.

Yes, the vision is even more divergent than you accurately state. The USA has become a globe spanning empire, the largest arms dealer on the planet, and an oppressor of many less powerful peoples. However, to your specific question: a world without Lincoln? Do the times in which we live create great people? Is greatness thrust upon them? Or do great people somehow rise to the occasion and showcase their meddle? Without Lincoln, might another person risen to

I 'cut off the cable' about eight years ago. I also replaced my land line with a cell phone (voice/text only). I have broad band web service access via PC. Switch back and forth between Netfilx and Hulu plus, depending on what shows I'm currently following. I'm patient so I never have subscriptions to both active during same month. Total package runs about 55/month. It moves when I move - no disconnect/re-connect fees. Mobile phone, web, and

And true patriots today are also the brave souls who speak out and act against the abuses those with power perpetrate upon others - even when the abusive acts are wrapped in the flag, enveloped in John Phillip Sousa's music, and honed with quotes from our ancestors. Let us also honor the patriots today who do not wear military uniforms, who don't get celebrations and speeches in their honor: the 'dissidents' speaking to Power, hoping that we the people will take back the

BTW (off topic) Iroquois National Wildlife refuge a bit south of lake Ontario is a stop over for dozens of species of migrating birds. Late Sept/early Oct typically finds 30,000 - 40,000 CANADIAN geese over-night-ing here. I have viewed their taking off en mass - what a sight - awesome. http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Iroquois/wildlife_and_habitat/index.html Best memories of Canada nature
