I have been a civ fan since civ 1 (which was just called civ, I believe). My fav is BTS, with the FallfromHeaven mod. Wyre's (and fall of Civ) is second place in the civ series. I have not played civ 5, and probably won't. The discussions on many forums suggests that Civ 5 is a dumbed down version of Civ. Do you feel the same way? I really want to know from someone who is both articulate and has played it. You are both. BTW, I was intrigued

I find myself torn in two. To "win" you have to 'conquer' the universe (World), etc. However, i elos enjoy building, creating, etc. Sometimes, it is fun to juts look at how my people have changed the face of EWoM's current world. Very early, walking down those unexplored valleys is a journey, and fun. I wish the game had more ot that in it. But it is, in the final analysis, a 4X, and conquering (forging alliances, etc) is part of it.

Thank you all for helping me understand "what it means to us." Basically, a 64 bit OS will allow the user to use programs that address more than 2 GIG of ram. When this OS is installed on a PC that actually has 2+ Gig ram, the applications have the POSSIBILITY of using the extra ram. That means your application (GAMES, I'm retired, and have no use, anymore, for outlook, scheduler, etc. LOL) can run bigger, faster, etc. (assuming the hardware, and OS is there.), IF th

These ideas of differing magic defenses, etc sound vey intriguing. What do you think about adding a "zone" around developed shards that give the owner (of the developed shard) 'enhanced' use of the shards magic type when the magic user is within that zone? I also hope that SD allows all these attributes, strengths, weaknesses, etc., to be 'adjusted 'via a user customize this world build of EWoM. They go to all the trouble to code this. Why not also, wh

Hi Jybil, What is the did between 32 bit and 64 bit. I think windows has both vwersions. What does it mean for gaming? Are they processor specific, or software (windows) specific? Thanks

mandelik> I can't see any relationship between the world being barren and the number of resources. Antarctica and most deserts on Earth are barren but are full of mineral and energy resources (and even archeological. Good for Old Libraries and such). A "barren world" for our game should be more in relation with human population, vegetal density and

Yes, I agree. Actually I think your idea of customizing each world created should be a expanded, and made a basic part of the game. Most things in the game should be adjustable: Density of resources, types, density and rate of, 'monsters', lairs, availability of some, if not all spells (and the mana cost to cast), [users.that hate the teleport spells can ‘un-tik / unselect them thereby making them unavailable in the game they are setting up.] unit types, equipment cost

Black Knight> Your observations of glitches are very accurate. I have experience most of them, as well. You have written an excellent summary. i do, however, disagree STRONGLY with one issue. The teleport. I have a very simple 'fix' for your desire not to use teleport. Just don't use it. But please stop campaigning to remove it from everyone else's games. I feel tele is too too easy (cheap?). But I do feel there is a place

Perhaps it is presumptious of me to suggest this, as I still havn't figured out XML, etc., yet. However, what about having the community here create and update our own mod guide. This, i suspect, is happening 'informally' as verious grooups have boned and are working together on various modding projects. Might SD allocate a place here in the forums, for the players to start building a guide? Just a crazy idea...

The major thing I would like to see is a change in the queuing sequence that determines when each unit in the battle window acts. Currently, it is 'side specific.' All units of one side move/melee/range attack/cast. Then all units of the others side act. Change it to a unit specific queue. This way, initiative means something. All units of both sides are placed in the queue. The unit currently with the highest 'initiative (not speed) acts first.

Avatar on this site: I am frustrated. I have tried, several times, to remove, delete, replace the 'spocks hand in stained glass' avatar image that displays with my posts. I keep getting error messages -200 500 and am told to 'try again later.' Does anyone have a work around on this (besides deleting my account)? Thank you

Royalty issues re: SOV. Lets be very candid. Historically, almost all royalty are the descendants of the first gang of thugs who successfully took control of a settlement. At root, they were gangsters, ruffians, thugs, thieves, and brutal enforcers of their gang's right to take from the weaker people around them. The weak 'farmers' or whatever came under the 'protection' of the autocrats because THEY don't want to mess with farming. Is this an early form of 'protection

Perhaps food is too easy to come by. Fertile land is wonderful, but without water? Is dust. Oasis function like fertile land in EWoM. perhaps a new resource, water needs to be created. Water, however, cannot be 'stored.' A study sup[ply may be had by controlling an oasis. Bou it doesn't accumulate. And water is rare and precious. All (living) beings need water evert turn or they die off. Need food, too? Of course. use som

Someone just posted screenies and info about tactictal battles from a game called romance of the kingdoms, or something like that. looked like some awesome ideas for tac. regarding those who don't like tac battles, please use the auto resolve. Please DON"T campaign to take away tac options from those who like them. It's one of the reasons I like where EWoM is going: the mix of tactics, operational issues, strategy, magic, and quests.

Reply to Marriage? in War of Magic

I never marry daughters off. Almost always marry sons off, as they stay with my faction, and bring a daughter in law with them. Grand kids have been fine. With the new global mana pool coming - I suspect this will be even less of an issue. Sd should come up with a way for SOVs to have more choices, very early. Perhaps, allowing a proposal (for marriage) to be made to individulals that are neutral. Or an offer to a member of another SOVs team 9not the

Delmoroth: I think your best bet is to make your sov female, then marry off your males. That way you have control of the married couples (and can keep them safe), you still get half the children, and your females can lead your armies. hey I always play a female SOV (thats me.. LOL) My experience has been marrying a son off usually brings the other Sovs daughter into my court. marrying a daughert off means they leave for the other sovs court.&nbsp
