I completely agree, and I already covered this in my crowd control thread (which was basically ignored). I'll summarize: - All stuns limited to ~2 seconds. Point is that stuns should be used to interrupt enemies, not incapacitate them for long periods. - Once you're stunned you can't be stunned again for at least 5 seconds. I know some people will say that this is too extreme, that stuns should just not be able to overwrite

Playerbase: This is totally a guess, but I'm expecting to see anywhere from 2k-5k online at any given time, perhaps a bit more right around release time. Similar numbers played AoE3 online (on ESO2). This game could exceed or fall short of those numbers, though, it's just a guess.
I agree that was a weak anology, but the point I was trying to make was that Demigod isn't supposed to be a DotA clone. It has some similarities, but it's meant to have differences. Just because some idea or concept is in DotA, doesn't mean that it is right for Demigod.
I agree, but I also think that it's not always wrong to draw comparisons between the two, since they are similar, whether people like it or not.&nb
Yes we did, shift+tab brings up an ingame IRC windows where you join the #Demigod channel to ask for a game, pretty much as an ALT+Tab if you play Garena.
Ah okay. Still, it's difficult to speak to the full functionality of the online client at release, since we've been given a fairly bare-bones client for beta.

Yeah, if you want the minotaurs to be miniscule you'll not be disappointed. :P

The real trolls are going to descend like a hoard of locusts and strip this forum bare oO
We're all getting repetitive - but it's towards the end of Beta, so it's not surprising. :) I know I'm not a troll, and they'll know it too, once the aforementioned horde of locusts

I think the cinematics etc. just make it seem like the proportions are a lot different. That was pretty much my first point of confusion when I started playing - I felt like most things ought to be a lot bigger with the exception of the Rook (who was already collossal and now even larger). I think the scale is staying pretty much as is, though. The creeps are meant to be miniscule and easy to murder en-masse (as opposed to most RTS and the way that a certain unmentio
By the way, there seems to be in this forum a new form of Godwin's Law where Demigod is compared to SC2 and/or DOTA
And yet another law where the mere mention of either of these two terms, regardless of context, elicits a "Demigod is totally different! You can't make that comparison!" response (case in point - http://forums.demigodthegame.com/343994).
But whats the point of even mentioning SC2 if its coming out in one - two years? Thats like saying if Demigod fails I will buy Warcraft 4 (because WC4 will come out in ages, it sounds stupid to say that).
SC2 is coming out at the end of this year (beginning of next year at the latest). Beta is beginning most likely in a couple weeks. In any case, that's irrelevant. He wasn't even being en

A piece of advice: When asking about the game, don't mention DotA. Generally speaking, you'll get more productive answers that way. In response to your other questions: 1) There will most likely be more Demigods (not heroes) coming in later additions to the game, whether free content patches or expansions (probably in both). 2) There will be a built in tournament system. 3) As for lag, I'd say it probably will be better.
as for things that you miss from DotA... this isn't DotA. When talking about starcraft, I could say the thing I miss from Empire Earth is being able to advance my civlization. No one would ever expect that in Starcraft 2 you'd be able to advance your civilization, because its simply a different game.
Very weak analogy. I won't bother arguing the point, though, since apparently the mere mention of anyt

I don't know, but it's not a bad idea. Another thing worth asking is if we'll be able to watch replays online with other people. That's something I really appreciated in the original Starcraft that I haven't seen in any other RTS since.

Hrm. Interesting point. It seems like this would only be a problem on a large map, though. What are your ideas for ways to make stalemates less of a problem? I've had games that last a long time because it's very close, but I'm not sure how that can really be helped balance wise....if players are close in skill, the game is naturally going to last a lot longer.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but won't Pantheon matches be all-humans come release? It was my understanding that the AI were just there for testing purposes. If that's not the case, I am concerned by this as well...Pantheon matches can't count towards ranking at all if AI are involved. In fact, if AI is a part of Pantheon matches it will not be taken seriously by anybody besides casuals / noobs who don't mind playing against AI.

Mass appeal, that's what Blizzard is all about. Blizzard games
Good job missing the point - even if the comparison was valid despite the genre difference (hint: it isn't), there'd still be no point of comparing them. There is no way SC2 will not outsell every other RTS/non-FPS. It will on the power of the Blizzard brand alone - there's no point in bringing it even up because it's success is 100% guaranteed irregardless of actual quality.
No, you missed the point.
currently this would be having 3x+ reguluses on a single team on teamspeak coordinating snipes ^.^ But once they balance out that cheeze it'll prolly be something like a tb/rook freeze hammer slam combo or similar. Basically any stun/nuke combo == ganking in demigod. However unlike many games we also have a defence or two in the form of QOT's barrier and the Oak's shield spells. (Among others)
