I play with cheats enabled, but I'm not using any of them. Specifically, not turning off FOW. But I was on a max-sized map, with a big empire and a lot of area visible the without cheats. FWIW, when I re-loaded, mem usage started a bit under 700,000 k, and grew to around 8-and-a-bit over several turns.

Also stone skin. I see it when the sovie is in a stack, all but ONE of whom already has the spell in effect. Then it skips the select screen and does the sovie instead of the unit that did not already have the spell. So I keep doing it by accident.

Me too. OOM in 1.19e when I hit next-turn. Task-mgr thought it was using a bitg over 1,100,000K at the time. debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/debug-OOM-1-19e.err don't see a crash zip file this time.

Another dumb sovie a bit later in the same 1.19d campaign. Ceresa came into my turf in a stack with just 4 units. On paper she looked stronger than my stack of sovie & 3 heroes, BUT she had picked up some damage somewhere and only had about 1/4 of her max hit points. Killed her by charging with my sovie and taking one swing. Two of her army immediately faded off the battle screen without me hitting them. Haven't seen that before -- is it a bug?

I saw a pretty stupid sovie in my current 1.19d campaign. He as in his own territory, but in a small stack rght next to me, just outside his capitol and last remaining city, which had lots of defenders. IIRC, he moved out of the city while I was trying to figure how to take it against all those defenders. Anyway, I stomped him & his little stack, and it killed his faction even though he had been in his own territory. And it erased the capitol, so I had to build a

NO mods on my system at all. For at least as long as betas last, I'll be playing only the "plain" game. Only one Nabaja in my current game. My realm is still pretty small. But I do have another hero with dominate, and both are in the stack that did the fighting. My guess is that it is a timing / out-of-order issue, like hughes said in reply #2. FWIW, in my other issue (where I autoresolved and the enemy was still there and I could fight them ove

OP's problem just happened again. Quicksave before the battle http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/QuickSave.EleSav Have the sovie & his 3 friends attack the foe next to them. I've had the same prioblem as the OP, hughes & wiskey. After tactical battles only. Starting with 1.19d. Next turn fixes. I've also had a similar-looking problem when I autoresolve* and the enemy is still there after I win. But in this case, I can click on them and fight again. IIRC, I don't get experience from these fights, the only result that seems to "take" is damage I suffer. My fix for this is to manually fight all the way thru. &nbsp

Maybe sometimes the stacks are supposed to separate because they are moving to different locations. Anyway, it would still help if they would fight together even if they were moving separately. Hit to OP: it doesn't waste a movement if you start the fight manually. THEN hit the autoresolve button in the lower-left of the combat screen. As for size limits, there is supposed to be one, but (A) the is some kind of loophole, because last night I attacked a little

I think the game really needs a "minimum distance from city center" for new cities. Set it to about 15 or 20 and it would reduce city spam and still let us expand & develop the cities that still get built.

It is counting the ones in the q. Getting a bit ahead of itself, but otherwise is math is correct. It only gives that message when you can't put any more in the q.

Lots of things seem to happen a bit out of order. Next-turn, get the message you have researched a new tech and can pick one, get some other messages, then get the message to pick what area to research next. (Or maybe sometimes I swear that last message never comes and the game decides I want to keep researching the same old). It would be easier if the tech messages came back-to-back. I don't know what to blame it on except maybe that there are too many threads not c

I play full-screen on a 1080p monitor, with the other monitor running task-mgr (so I can watch memory usage). Originally I hoped to be able to run a browser in the 2nd monitor so I could post enhancement requests or bug while I could still see what I was bitching about. But once the game is past startup, whenever I click anywhere in the 2nd monitor Elemental minimizes. It would be nice if it could just pause but stay on the screen. Then when I try to reactivate it,

Always the largest. I want a big epic game that would last a while. I mostly play custom faction against all the built-ins. Even at largest map size they are too crowded together. Could use maps at least 2x bigger. I avoid OOM mostly by playing cloth-map only. Feel sorry for whoever did all the fancy artwork that I don't see any more. Too bad. ETA on 64-bit version ?

UberHeroes are kinda the point of this type of game. Don't like them -- play GalCiiv 2 or Total War. (Well, maybe Civilization, but I haven't played that series since original DOS Civ).

After you turn the graphics off, I don't think you recover the memory until you exit and restart. Other than that nothing to help you... ...but, since you're not the only one to turn graphics on to find beaches, how about a big hint to the devs that beaches should be visible even in cloth-map mode (somebody requested it months ago too).

"Cloth Map Only" reduces memory usage some. Keep fog of war off too (its off by default). Both of those effect memory usage. They make the difference for me between never OOM-ing and what you describe.
