I think they must have always planned on having a distribution platform of their own, for (only) their own products. Remember, SD sell business / productivity software too. Wanna explain to corporations that they have to go to Gamestop ?? Good. You do it.

I like most of the OP, but the reduction in army size worries me. It might make sense in FE, but in most strategy games I have played since Civ-1 (DOS), I have thought there were too many small nuisance battles and not enough battles that mattered. I know Stardock isn't immune to this -- GalCiv 2 was a major offender. To be clear, not talking specifically about FE or EWoM, just bitching about over two decades of games. I'd rather have a few decisive battles w
Easy choice for me, since I don't have any Impulse content except Stardock games and I don't much like Impulse.
Happened s to me a LOT. Mostly after one of my melee units swings. I can reduce the chance of it happening by waiting longer between clicks (like Heavenfall suggests above). Doesn't seem to matter if I click too fast when my archers are shooting, though. So I think it is timing-related in some part of the code path that is separate for melee and bow attacks. And I'd vote for fixing too, but I think it needed to be done before most of the team moved over
New distribution platform is tentatively called "Stardock Central? How close is that to the Stardock Central I still have on my computer from before I had Impulse ?? Anyway, like the name.

The bugs that "bug" me in 1.39 are 1: Units sent to a distant location forgetting to move, as others have mentioned before. Happens with new caravans sometimes, and is most bothersome there because of other issues with caravan management. 2: Old issue where to try to look at a caravan and the the info on the last caravan you looked at. 3: Occasional freezes in tactical battles, requiring autoresolve. Not new, but more bothersome now becaus
Will it require .Net ? Java ? Anything else I'd rather not have on my computer because of all the security updates ??????????
Old bug that has been bitched-about before. At least my 3rd time it has happened in my 1.39 campaign. Could select units but not move or attack. This with 2 enemy remaining after I had spent about 1/2 hour killing about 80%+ of them without loss. :( Then auto-resolve was my only way out, and it lost. :( My army was 3 heroes with Ythil bows, plus Xander from the book content with Elementium Karrazan. Just curious -- anybody else play
I've seen it too.
I've had lots of freezes in battle like he says -- need to autoresolve out. Didn't notice any units with zero hit points, but I will try to pay more attention next time. This can be a big PITA when autoresolve makes you loose a battle you could have won, and you have already spend a long time slowly whittling down a foe with thosands of hit points. Its an old bug, but more bothersome now that battles take longer.
Please. This has been asked-for before. It's a PITA even away from FOW tracking down the stray who triggers some message that he can't find a way home so he can't set up a trade route -- when all the paths look clear. Also, please finally fix the bug where one you look at one caravan, the info for that one shows for all the others instead of their info. Please. Really.
Does sound closer to MOM. This is a good thing. Always. :)
I had a full load of quests that could not be complete because the required going outside the area I could reach. Gave up & started over.
Casters on auto resolve will only cast magic arrow and do nothing else at all, period. Even if they have an awesome weapon and like 10 action points, or much better spells. The spells (or spell really) cast during auto-resolve also don't appear to cost anything. Mana or SP or whatever it's called doesn't decrease even though the unit is casting magic arrow 20 times per combat
Yep.

Agree that we should be able to build ships, and/or research terraforming later. I'm playing Zander from the book content, which means NO starting spell books, and I'm on random map which has me completely hemmed in by mountains, so I am hopelessly locked in and just going thru the motions until I get the urge to start a new game where something can actually happen.
Most of the PCs at work don't actually need it. I remove it (and lots of other junk) to save the trouble of updating. Here at home I have it only because of Impulse. If that gets replaced by something that doesn't require .NET, .NET is gone. Or if I lose interest in Stardock games (gasp). It got the same WindowSecrets email. Also, I saw something a day or three ago about Microsoft possibly starting to regard .NET & Silverlight as "le
Re city development & specialization & planning: how about some one-of-this-group-per-city buildings instead of or in addition to the 1-per-city and 1-per-empire buildings ? One group would be consist of buildings with some % bonus to gildar / tech research / arcane / food / recruitment speed / mining / shard harvesting, etc. There might be a 2nd group with fixed-amount bonuses like +10 tech research, +10 gildar, etc. Any city could have one from gr
Its almost ok when I kill some wolves or spiders and find "salted pork". "Tastes Like Pork", and I suppose I might have brought some salt. But when I just kill bandits and find salted pork -- "long pork" anyone ? Aside from that, there's no difference between the pork and the healing nectar that costs the same. How about increasing the price of the nectar and having do more good.
Agree. This has gotten old.
re #10, credit cards and automatic renewals...... you even have to be careful with paid anti-virus / internet security programs and unwanted auto-renewals after you decide to switch to another product, BUT... ... last time I checked, most of the internet security programs were cheaper on Amazon than download from the vendor. Cheaper even after adding in shipping costs. Actually cheaper to buy "new" from Amazon again next year than the discounted renewal price from the vend

Is it really what it looks like or just a timing issue? Things happen out of order all the time (because of multi-threading??), like enemy going thru their death animation before my guy does his attack animation.
Also, a few turns before the crash I had a couple instances of buildings / units being invisible on the cloth map -- an old issue. Usually when that happens I exit and start again, because it always seems to be a sign of bad things to come. crash zip file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/Elemental1_2b-2011-06-11T07-39-10-109.zip debug.err
