I was playing through the Elemental campaign. I had just been defeated by the Troll and his lizard so I attempted to reload a previous save when the game locked up. I waited a minute or so then pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del, chose Task Manager, and got a message telling me Elemental had stopped working. Here is my dump information: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8029521/Elemental%2008-23-2010/Elemental1_00-2010-08-23T15-13-57-780.zip Here is my DxDiag info: http://dl.dropbox.c
Units in your zone of influence heal 1hp/turn. Units garrisoned in cities heal faster. I'm not sure about the discrepancy you describe, but that's how healing works.
Thanks.
I really, really like Elemental. It looks great, combat is fun, and the campaign does a great job of doling out new things to build and train at a pace that is enjoyable. It's still far from accessible -- I looked and looked for a way to buy items from my merchant and couldn't figure it out. And in the end it's because it looks like peasants CAN'T shop (wow!). But I was able to buy items for my recruited character (a bard) and for my sovereign, so in the end I just stationed my peasan
In the past Brad has addressed some of these criticisms with "the game isn't done" but I would be interested to see what he has to say now. I criticized how he also promised the game earlier than it was actually released (but no one seems to remember any of those earlier comments and I was flamed for mine) but how do we feel about his promises for a "more complete game"? I'm not saying Elemental is a bad game or that I regret buying it! After playing Gal Civ II and seeing what an awes
After recently playing Gal Civ II for the first time I can see that this is the way Stardock makes games. They seem happy with this style of UI and game play and while it's not as accessible as something like Sid Meier's Civ, it's not totally horrible either. Not that I'm giving them a pass, but anyone thinking it's going to become great after a few patches is probably fooling themselves. I imagine it will improve somewhat but this is how Stardock makes games. They definitely don't se

You have no problem criticizing me... You are whinning because you had to wait and people who rightfully call you out you call fanboys? You should get an e-mail. That's how the Beta worked but since the Beta is over we should all get a new e-mail with a new serial number. I think.
I was a big strategy gamer in the 1980s and 1990s, but in the last 10 years or so I've focused almost exclusively on RPGs and action games. When I play Civ Rev or Civ IV, they hold my hand enough where I don't have to necessarily be a total expert to play the games. Gal Civ II, which I just recently bought and have been playing, and the Elemental Betas, all rely on you to figure out what's going on. That doesn't make them bad games, but it makes them less accessible. Civ V sho
I thought we were getting it Sunday or Monday anyway...how is this different? And I guess this means Beta testers are those who've been in the Beta program for some time (like for years maybe?) whereas we are the preorder folk? Even though I did preorder AND participate in the Beta (starting with Beta 2 I believe).
Mine too! I cannot wait!
We'll announce when it's time.
Good enough for me. Thank you. In other news, Neil Young's new album Le Noise releases Sept 28th...
I am hoping but not assuming that as someone who preordered a couple of months ago I will get early access to Elemental. Comments from Frogboy (that's Brad, right?) seemed to indicate early access might be available for at least Beta testers on Sunday or Monday. My question is this: If the current serial numbers are invalid, will new ones be issued via e-mail when the release is available for download? Looking at Impulse won't tell me as far as I know, and there's been no mention of a
PLEASE RELEASE THE GAME FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVE PREORDERED! I WANT TO PLAY SO BAD. I've been playing Gal Civ II like crazy just to tide me over.

I think that Frogboy mentioned in another thread that it was already outdated.
Great reading material in the rest room. Sorry, but true.
I don't think you get the novell. I ordered it from Amazon for about $10...
I only ordered because of the Heirgemenon. $30 ($10 is shipping) is pretty steep but I am hoping it's worth it.
I have a pretty low-end Shuttle PC with a very modest AMD dual core processor, 4GB RAM, low-end Nvidia graphics card, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Elemental Betas never stutter and the game looks good regardless of zoom level. I plan on getting Civ V too and while I will hate to dial down the graphics, I figure I can live with it as I don't plan on getting a new PC for some time. Gary
You know what would be MUCH better than Sunday or Monday? How about Friday night? If we could get it early enough to spend our weekends playing it, that would be awesome.
Oh boy, a whole day early!
So do we REALLY have to wait until the 24th before we can get our preorders? Beta 4 is nice and all, but I'm ready for the REAL thing? And congrats on emminent gold! Gary
Beta 4 definitely is more of a game than previous Betas, but it seems far from being finished. Forgive me please for comparing it to Civilization, but I've never played any Stardock games before and the reason I bought Elemental is because it claimed to be a Master of Magic style game. And Master of Magic was basically a Civ clone with magic and tactical battles. So as I play Elemental Beta 4 I look for its Civness. I want it to inform me, lead me to a certain extent, help me to grasp
