Quoting Sythion, reply 69well deserved criticism for what will be called an uneven mix of RPG and RTS Ya, the RTS part is so poorly mixed it shows up nowhere in the game whatsoever. Nice trollin.
Wrote an entire explanation of how I'm not trolling... then just before I hit send I realized... I meant TBS, obviously.

I'm going to say mid to high 60's, with the game receiving accolades for its ambition and getting very harsh and well deserved criticism for what will be called an uneven mix of RPG and RTS. They will get this impression due to the uneven flow of the game, causing champions/spells/monsters/soldiers seem extremely overpowered relative to each other at different points in the game. This was, of course, a disgustingly obvious truth in MoM. It's also one that we're general
May I have one question: Will 60FPS limit be increased? I am asking because I am using 144hz lcd monitor, and I do like smoothness of it, and higher FPS definitely helps. I would love to be able use my PC and monitor to its fullest instead of being forced to 60fps max.
60fps is the speed of the human eye. Although the difference in your 144hz monitor is most likely noticeable to you, the difference is placebo
Quoting BasedDoc, reply 29While this is true to a point, the law of diminishing returns takes effect eventually: study 10 hours for a test, get a 95, study 15 hours, get a 97. Are those extra 5 hours worth it? NO! Um, yes they are...if all your 'competition' worked the 15 and scored 97 ....you're the bottom of the bell curve and flunk out. If a person doesn't have commitment and/or dedication to his 'wor
Quoting Droghar, reply 2Has anyone actually devised a really powerful bow using hero? Problem with bows are the MASSIVE penalty to initiative, you cannot use bows without the "Archery" trait, in which it still is kind of... Meh, compared to having a decent sword and a shield. Besides, lategame movement on heroes goes up so high that the bonus from not having to move over to the enemy is equal nothing, since it only takes

Despite being obviously imbalanced, a large majority of traits that pop up are both useless (or nearly useless) and boring. I think they should all go away and we should only have interesting and/or useful options for all 5 of our choices every level up. No more no brainers!

Tactical AI is making obvious non-optimal moves. It's casting defense after it casts an offensive buff that lowers defensive capabilities. Is the AI able to consider what it will do on the following turn?

I wouldn't say that the pioneer is the only unbalanced thing. Even if pioneers were expensive, they would be in high demand because many cities is almost always better than fewer cities. The slower growth from multiple cities doesn't really matter much, especially since they seem to grow to cap so easily anyway.

Just won a pretty cheesecake easy victory with Pariden by using my sovereign only on Challenging. I played porcupine as an assassin, and used her collar thing to buff herself with all spheres of magic. Recruited no champions and destroyed every city I came across, and built up my original city, although that was completely unnecessary. Could have just won without ever razing a city. Had to combat until about level 25, then just auto resolved everything. Took forever be

+8 The idea of adventurers not provoking territory violations is just too elegant of a solution not to be implemented. That would also allow me to create some squire or retainer type units that can follow my champions around on adventures.

I actually don't like the "unrest" idea, or a revolt idea, because they both seem a bit... hard to notice. That was actually something I disliked in Civ games. I felt like a dog with a shock collar + invisible fence on a 1 hour delay. Besides, an economic hampering may not even make a difference so long as games continue to be determined by champions alone. I mean, I don't really need any "steam" to help with my roll. I'd prefer something less subtle to stop steamr

How about some more mystical stuff? Shadowlands (like that darkling city, maybe) that return to full black instead of fog of war grey when they are out of sight? Places where the plane of (fire/water/earth/air/death/life) have ripped into the world. Volcanos with lava that you take damage from entering.

Things are looking a lot better, and a lot of issues people are complaining about (no choices, city spam, armor, etc.) are really all just balance issues. That's a good thing. However, it's a little daunting, because in my opinion many progression curves are completely borked, which leads to a pacing experience that's like a toy boat in a hurricane. Here's the progression issues, and what might be able to be changed to fix it. <span style="text-decoratio
@Nerhesi, Seems like you are talking about balance at the endgame. That is only really something to balance once the rest of the game is where it needs to be.
This is true. Plus... level 32? Wow. Long game. Anyway, obviously spell casters start off weak, grow in power incredibly fast as they hit their early feats and get lots of shards, then taper off. Combat units are slightly more linear in their pro
Also, dodge values are way too low. +3 dodge for a shield won't change much. 5 dodge against 3 HP? No thanks. Armor is way better than dodge, and dodge-related traits for units are too weak to be of any use.
Agree with everything but this (which I still kind of agree with). On its own, dodge is a harmless little fun ability to put on champions and units. In combination with armor, it's game breaking. A few e

In consideration of the shop: Currently the shop is the only gold sink for massively economically successful kingdoms. I have a feeling that this is why prices are so inflated. In either the case of cheaper prices or no shop, sometime else would have to take the shop's place, or else we would want to get rid of Capitar as a faction entirely, since their benefit provides little to no actual benefit. I'm not sure that the shop is the best idea for a money sink

GREAT analysis and suggestions. Thank you for staying within the realm of reason with your solutions instead of trying to invent entire subsystems that would never get implemented. I hope your suggestions get taken in with as much interest as I had reading them. That said, I think 1 ping on an attack might be too little. Maybe something similiar could be applied, where if a unit would deal 0 damage, it has a 50% chance of dealing 1 point of damage instead. There could be a gueri
