I think that the problem comes when people try to eliminate the snowball effect entirely, but do it wrong. They underpower things and add in diminishing returns, and while there is still a snowball effect, the fun of stomping on everybody and going way overkill is gone.

Same here. Now whoever made that "unsucessful troll" pic is going to be out of a job....

Yep! For GC2:TA. I actually have a preview pack ready for release, but every upload site I've tried is broken in some way.....

Stardock rewrites sins to make it a non-spam game. Unfortunately, this causes them to pust back the Elemental alpha again, and hundreds of angry bear nuts storm the building bfore they can finfish. Stardock is destroyed, all of the staff are either dead or in hiding, and Luckmann takes over, producing hundreds of bear games over and over again. I wish Netfilx would hurry up and send Transformers here.

Yup. It was the " HI!!!!!!!! " thread that did it.

Looks good. Of course, that probably means I'll have to redo most of the screenshots for my mod.....

Humanity sees the error of its ways, evolves, and tackles all of the social and political ills facing the world. There is no longer any need for national borders, so the United Nations draftes a treaty eliminating all soverign governments and establishing a democratically elected world government. However, the day the treaty is signed, the entire planet is destroyed in a preemptive strike by a race of canine aliens. I wish I could remeber to continue forum games.

That was what I was referring to in my "conservation of essence" idea in the essence thread.... which opens the idea of an essence vistory in which you control a certain % of the game's total essence.

I find it to be an interesting idea, but the amount of time and energy needed not only to put it in the game but just to RUN the game is prohibitive. Remember, we are going to have GIANT maps here, and while I cannot give even a balpark estimate of the processing power needed to run somedthing like that, it would definately be above the capabilities of most low-end or even middle-,level systems out there.

I think it might add a little something to diplo trades if a channeler can take a potion of his essence back from a unit or city or whatever attached to another player: cozying up to the other guy before war is all well and good, but if he can pull the rug out from under you, you might want to think twice.
