it really depends. I still play Civilizations IV from time to time, heck I still play master of magic from time to time (and that game is from 1993-95 range). But other games, I beat once and never pick up again. I think sins will continue to be played by me for at least a few years (not just because of expansion packs) just because I never really feel like I've gotten enough of it. I blame the lack of singleplayer. At the same time I tend not to play more than 1

that must be it! where are you uploading your 50x50 image? if it isn't working at impulsedriven then it is most certainly your flash. Its a pain to go back to flash 9, but you can do it. Last upload I did, I did at my school since they take eons to upgrade anything over there.
side-scrolling platformer RPG
I'm afraid I can't really say. Until we know for sure what it does, I'm going to have to plead a neutral stance. I have nothing wrong with it being renewable or finite. Esepecially if you can adjust the rate of which the channeler produces it (I'd imagine you don't start with all that you can get).
I'm ambivalent about random events. Sometimes they're fun and sometimes they're not fun and get annoying, Check box toggle off/on, or slider frequency control from Off to Frequent works best for me.
I still think since we should be able to make custom ones (and I think we should) there should be a random event tool that lets you load sets and such, then have above mentioned slider on a per-event basis. (of course, just use pre-saved random event sets most of the
Well, its here. Look above at reply #17 and #19 by alway and risinglegend respectively. Post #29 is from the big guy himself, confirming the link to be there. So its not like you could say there were different stories entirely via split-plot or anything like that. (its not like the "zelda" series where the devs have not claimed a link between all the games in years and its pretty much all fan driven.) It is confirmed that there is a solid link between
Master of Magic had some interesting aquatic races (lizardmen, naga, and such) and I'd hope that we could at least mimic that much with our custom content
I guess its the magic of the line tool. gave karma already ^_^
Becauase I have yet to run into a finite-resource system that works once the resources run out -- it ends up just ugly once resources run out. I'm going to guess his point is the same.
right, but just because it hasn't been done well doesn't mean that games shouldn't have it. Maybe some people like said Dune game. I said 'almost offensive' because I understand the idea behind it. Games really shouldn't put some sort of artificial limit on your ex
Yeah, I was looking. Sadly there isn't a solid spell or random event FAQ anywhere that I can find. The strategy guide is great and all, but it isn't in a format that we can share here on the forums (unless somebody has a pdf)
A game without any random event is like a party without music, beer and naked women.
man, my parties must really suck. Though, I guess there are some good games without random events, so maybe it is not as bad as I thought. I figured said button to remove them would be a game options. a button like that been in existance I think in every game with random events since the original master of magic.
DoT is more accurate, since obviously 'seconds' have no factor in turn-based gameplay (or shouldn't anyway, defeats the purpose). generally spells would come in singe shot damage, with maybe a few that deal damage over the course of several turns, but they wouldn't be as common as they are in a RTS game. somebody should get a breakdown of all the master of magic spells > just for arbitrary comparison to see 'what has been done' as well as any similar fantasy game spell
They haven't confirmed much about naval combat, but its assumed that it won't be much more than 'can build ships'. I'm not really sure what 'serious naval combat' means in a TBS game like Civ or Master of Magic, so I wouldn't rule out any ideas. I mean pretty much all TBS games that arn't ONLY focused on combat at sea (some pirate games for example) have simple naval combat. Either it is ship to ship (the battle field is literally two ships with planks between them) or
It has to do with the HTML. I find it happens most when I copy-paste from a word proccessor. I now filter all my posts through textpad to cut down on extra junk. I also (when its a problem) I actually manually check the HTML, removing anything I don't think I need.
this sounds dangerous. Usually changing focus from a high-end PC game to anything causes enough processing as it stands, but then saving might make that pause be even worse. It would be great if it could happen, but it sounds like asking for bugs to me. Stardock is all about windows management though, so perhaps if anybody can do it, they can.
The cataclysm essentially wiped out the dread lords, only for them to rise again later once sentient beings began to take shape and scatter across the universe.
yeah, we have a totally different interpritation. I still think it sounds like the dreadlords already rose to power, and the cataclysm killed ALL of them. There has been a lot of other discussion of how Gal Civ is unique compared to other sci-fi to fantasy tie-ins since usually the fantasy
Well it is 4X strategy, so I can't imagine micromanaging being much of a problem (since its not like there is a time restraint)
or... different file format? i'll see what I can do tonight. also, where are you uploading it? Perhaps some older sites don't like any more than 50x50 even though the rules are different?
point and click adventure game is my vote. (in a dark planescape setting)
Man, did I ever mention how awesome your little mock ups are. What do you use to create those?
Which one is not like the others?
ah, thats kinda mean :P Supposedly there is expected to be a rebound from the games industry though. last year there was a loss of profits and a bunch of companies started buckeling their belts. It still expected that the games industry is going be for the most part hiring and growing reguardless of the economic downturn.
Stardock is becoming a really big company if it keeps up. I used to consider them a smaller company, but they are publishing titles from GPG and Ironclad, maybe more there too. With two dev teams, at least 2 other reasonably sized development teams being published under stardock, they soon will be up along blizzard, eidos, and other big US company names.
Claps. +1 I was just about to say its not in iamic pentameter, but I see you already addressed that. (you could submit a poem for the contest on the elemental forums: https://forums.elementalgame.com/337274 Might win a shirt or something)
I get the impression because it was pretty much directly stated. Frogboy said that the cataclysm wiped out all the dreadlords, it also is clear that the story is related to galciv
The Dread Lords would bide their time and rise again once sentient beings began to take shape and would scatter across the universe. That tale, however, is told elsewhere.
that is from Inspirations 1 . It was also confirmed that the d
I can see elves and dwarves and such being a neutral faction in the base game. That being said, if this is Gal Civ based, maybe it will be lost aliens or something. I agree with GW that we will certainly have all our standard 'fantasy' races once fan-content becomes solid. I expect all the original Master of Magic races will be available as (I will ensure it is so)
