Well, if this cataclysm destoys civilization as we know it, almost destroying the universe, it would pretty much be a magic reset button. So you wouldn't need a new plotline, just everything that was the old plotline (spaceships, leaders, libraries, you name it) is lost. So what little life survived would be left on whatever barren world that still exists. chances are, the survivers know nothing of how to build starships or conbustion engines or anything. S

Michigan is prime location for me (that perfect distance that is within driving range of family in IL, but far enough that they won't be in my hair) so if you need to find people to hire. start your search at " landiscasner.com ". I would be perfect for an RPG team.

I've had that problem with jpegs before (I use a PNG for my avatar which doesn't seem to have that problem)

Once they game comes out and whatever title is given to the council in the game will become the word used in these discussions. I think bothering about what it is called now is kinda like fighting over what to name your ducks before they hatch. It doesn't matter what we call it now. Its not like stardock is going to forget that it shouldn't be called "United nations" and until they name it, it doesn't matter. "united nations (of sorts)" is as valid
22. Preferably have a unit limit above 50, some games have ridiculous restrictions on the size of one's armies.
This one is FAR to specific to even be 'any strategy'. Some games will be designed around you being limited to a few units (Demigod, Dawn of War 2) and others will be balanced with few units (Warcraft 2 and 3, even though 2 didn't have a limit you just would NEVER get that many units without cheating and 3 COULD get over 50 if you massed only footm

I tend to buy a hard-copy when I can (I don't know how many times the net went down right as I needed it, also DVD install is often faster). I like having 'stuff' that I can hold, manual

uh... I thank them for being awesome developers in general. The bill-o-gamin' rights is such a great standard to set.

OH, you mean a campaign editor for Elemental (I thought you meant in Gal Civ 2). When you said dreadlords and arnor, I thought you mean the expansions of GalCiv2

thanks davebax > that does help a bit. if only they would tell us more about their price deals or release dates. I guess this is more info then what we had. I just want to know if I'm going to have to uninstall my win 7 beta or if it is going to come out in time for me to just upgrade.

you might make a campaign? make a campaign of what? (seriously, I'm interested its just you kinda left an incomplete thought) Like work the elemental back story into a between campaign story that leads up to the discovery of magic and all that? that would be pretty awesome. You should mod that in or something (then submit it to the contest for a free shirt ^_^) (I don't think you could put all of E:WaR between the expansions since that woul

I just don't like my precious computer parts exposed to the outside world. I have never in my life spilled anything on my computer (except maybe something on the keyboard once or twice when I was little) but the moment I got an open case like that would be when that changed. OR somebody else would walk by and spill something on it - either way. cool design, but I wouldn't trust it. that airflow discussion seems valid, though I don't see why the powerful fan on
I think that Windows needs two versions only like XP did. Home and Professional editions, although each edition would have a 32bit and 64bit version but including both versions in it's specified version would be great...
XP had 3 versions. Home, Professional, and media center edition (media center is often missed because it came like a year or 2 after the 1st two) you're looking for Win2000 (which only had 2 versions as you describe)

But 'limited' doesn't just mean not volume licensing, it's Ultimate (which doesn't have volume licensing anyway) I mean I understand that purchasing a volume of linceses isn't going to change the price per license (that is what volume licensing is), but that doesn't explain why its 'limited' > normal retail shouldn't be 'limited' by any means. I should be able to get as many retail copies as I want.

Personally I imagine it as after, though I really like how it is open to interpritation When you read the backstory, you'll notice there is no reference to anything such as 'the world' or 'the worlds'. The only sense of scale is once or twice there is mention of the 'entire universe' but that is pretty resolute "everything that exists" reguardless of if it is a galactic alien alliance, a bunch of worlds that are ignorant of each other and mostly primitive, or not even that much s

limited availability on Ultimate? what the F#$% does that mean? (will have to research MUI language packs... since professional doesn't have it and I don't really want to loose the option to switch to asian languages or whatever that does. It seems a strange feature to drop.)

One thing that crossed my mind, is if they allow for custom spells then how will game progression work? The same problem will happen for units. In Elemental: War of Magic, the first direct damage spell you have should not be your best direct damage spell. You should have to upgrade it or something so that you have a goal of having good magic down the road. Players will just be able to create spells that are powerful, to the most of whatever system allows.

I made the noted correction since somebody pointed it out, but it IS a common turn of phrase which almost validates it as a quote. Well, I wasn't meaning to use soundtrack examples, though I now am aware that both were such examples of instruments. There are other inacurnistic ideas that I could have used. What is wrong with using modern heads? Elemental: War of Magic takes place far in the future, don't you forget. The dreadlords in the Ele

Eh, they almost happen (flamewars I mean) like when somebody starts bashing art direction or something. (you know what I'm talking about... if you don't then this insert is not addressing you. See Elemental: War of Magic art threads) I mostly blame the involvement that Stardock has with the community. Many game communities, people just kinda run amok, but stardock is actually getting things done here (see beta feedback section) and as a result it raises the atmospher

If they can't channel a projection or something to communicate long distances then they would be shaming their master of magic ancestors. @GW I

I'm not talking about a forum post. I was talking about 3rd party sources. I'm talking about press releases such as the IGN article and other such things. I wouldn't be the one to call them on such a thing anyway, its done when its done. I'm with you on that. Too often are things released before they should and stardock clearly does not do that. I used "promised us" mainly as a contrast to "implied" anyway. It is directly stated in press releas

GW swicord, it was already stated that obviously it couldn't be the UN as we see it today. But more like just a meeting of kings or something like the meeting I have in the above link. big meetings like that do certainly exist in many fictions (one piece also has a meeting of kings in the format that would work) I really don't think the issues discussed would be the same kind of thing that a UN would talk about. It would be mostly magic based, again to help ensure

Right, it seemed like a new spin on the whole "random event" that would totally work. Not all random events should summon a council on how to deal with it, of course, but some of the really BIG ones (and especially unbalanced ones) should have a worldly vote on how the wizards are going to let it occur. (wizards/channelers might also be able to see a bit into the future, which would also explain why the meeting happens)
