do you seriously want us to rally together to create a petition or something to send to creative for a total war game with magic? (like an actual total war game, rather than King Arthur... which I'm more interested in now that ravan is waving it around)

so... can trolls not work at stardock?
Moved to the "Elemental Idea's" section. ....oh wait, I don't have mod privs...nevermind.
You don't? Well. I might, I just don't want to use them.
if you pre-order before Beta 2 goes out, then you're in Beta 2. They usually have a window of time when you can pay right away (rather than pre-order and wait for them to charge your credit card as per normal impulse pre-order process) so paypal users can get in. This will then repeat for Beta 3, and so on until they move to Gamma (which is the phase just before release when it becomes private again and the public doesn't get to see
I'd love to see "Paint on Cloth" and "Life is Returning" in full screen versions.
I'll see what I can do. The trouble with those two, (especially the "paint on cloth" ) is I don't have access to a high resolution original, so I'm scaling up as it is. And since the image is like 3 times as wide as it is tall, I feel like I'm butchering the image less by doing it that way. I'll do another sweep on the net before I put up a fullscreen version th
I would imagine that by release we will be able to build cities in forests. The engine just doesn't understand that concept yet, and I'm not sure if there will be any complications. (I mean, if we couldn't build cities in forests, that would be silly) I can imagine requiring "clear cutting" or something researched before towns can be directly built into forusts. Perhaps a similar technology could allow cities to be built in mountains?
I do know that there ar
Sorry guys, I've got plans to create some more from the other elemental art lying around. But it hasn't happened yet, and likely won't for the next month. Always feel free to create some of your own and post it here though.
It would certainly add to the game to have dynamic activities for the townfolk to perform. It may even make it easier to mod, since they would just move around and do whatever within the 'free-space' of the town. So in the 'tile editor' they would walk or stand on open ground or places appropriate, and if the townfolk AI can't find a place they could stand or perform actions, then they would just skirt the outsides of the tile. Players would have to assign in
well, the new beta is whenever beta 2 opens. They are still on Beta 1B about to go to 1C last I checked, and their schedule calls for updates all they way to Beta 1G, which means for it to be "christmas" we have to go through D, E, and F (not to mention G) in a month for beta 2 to arrive. Of course, they may open it up again before then, who knows. But other estimations I've heard, from the devs, is early 2010 for Beta 2, which I'd say was a much safer
but it did restrict the untethered creativity of the writers
who are the writers anyway? I know you've got us a book in the works. But are the people who are writing the book also going to be making game text? (obviously one is based on the other, but that doesn't mean they are the same people making and organizing it)
Huray! woah, whats goin' on with that dude's eyes? I like the guys in the tank/bunker. I seriously approve. I love the idea of terraforming technologies as a central focus in this futuristic dystopian society. Seriously, thumbs up! [e classic]:congrat:[/e]
having a wide variety of things to be said that relate to the situation at hand is something I really enjoy. Both as a player and somebody who wants to create such text (this is all going to be in python right?) I am glad you have it set out here. I might want to throw in a tid-bit. Here you have "military might" being compared, but might you also want magical might compared? Or possibly relating to the strategy choosen by the AI? (
I could never get enough mercenaries in MoM. I hope if mercenaries are a "thing" we have a setting where we can make them super common or super rare based on game setup. (of course "fame" or whatever can still influence it, perhaps exponentially)
So what about "Ubermensch" (supermen) that happen to be in your army? You know, Fredrick Neitzsche style. Surely there will be somebody in every generation of soldiers who are entirely an amazing programer, actor, and chess-player. (Unless those are the heroes.... which just occurred to me. I guess Ubermensch wouldn't stay in your normal soldier ranks for very long.)
Boogie, please fix the crashes also. I cannot complete a game at all in Elemental right now, because of the caravan related crash, what I've reported before.
Does that really need to be said XD I'm sure they will fix as many crashes as they can.
posting in the "off-topic" section is much more likely to get you a good responce, just because more people look at it. Just to mention. Personally, I'd pull my eyes out trying to create a mesh from a binary file without another tool specifically made to work with meshes.
one could write a paper on why "Risk" is a bad game. (in fact, I think somebody has... which would be why it was often brought up for poor design choices in my school). That being said, I love risk. The problem with risk is it is too focused on luck, and not focused on... well, anything else. There is a little bit of strategy, such as heavily defending bottlenecks, or spreading all your guys out 2 to a country rather than 1 so its harder t
I like all these video demos. So, am I hearing that Windows blinds 7 is less likely to mess up the text in some of my other programs?
So kellen, you arn't advertising your slime mod here? I actually mentioned a mod of my own that I've been trying to learn 3D modeling to accomplish. I *think* its actually the first mod mentioned on any forums, being a "not-mom" mod. I mostly mentioned it on the elementalgame.INFO which is why it may not have been spotted here. I promise that such a mod will see the light of day, if I have to do it myself.
death threats! XD I am fairly amused. You must feel great if you were motivated to type all of that. I applause can be heard.
I approve of walls-o-text [e digicons]k1[/e] I just want to point out, you have that whole "armies should be 500-5000" thing towards the end where you suggest that over 5000 is end of the road... and what instantly came to mind was the moment where Saruman says "Tens of thousands" when discussing the size of his army of orcs (which all looked like normal identical foot soldiers to me, but whatever). And that shouldn't be late game... that should b
Maybe he's not running from the chicken, he could have seen your avatar
the space balls stunt double isn't that scary. I have vague memories of some "adventurer" out to find a "great beast" that turned out just to be a chicken. I could be mixing together stories. Sir Robin of Camelot ran from the Chicken of Bristol, so perhaps he is the model 0-level research adventurer.
Im so glad you were able to make it to PAX landi, its good to hear things ive missed in the past, that's extremely exciting news! i thought this was all just speculation but it sounds like you got it right from the guys in charge. You just made my night! lol
yeah, I think I spent most of my time there lurking near the Stardock booth. just to note, if you really search through all the user videos of the PAX presentations, ther
right now the whole essense system isn't really very functional. I mean its in the game, but all it does is create cities. Once they've ironed out the other uses of it (namely the whole spell system, enchantment, and hero boosting deal) I'm sure we're going to see some dramatic changes to how the essence to deploy cities is handled, both in cost to start a city and general amount on channeler.
I remember at Penny Arcade Expo thinking something similar like "how do I create cities without my sovereign" and it was explained to me the whole fertile ground thing (which was much more clear in the 3D version than the current 2D UI) and from there I remember bringing up settlers. I'm pretty sure I managed to get a confirmation out of boogiebac at PAX that there will be units akin to settlers who can found cities. But they will not be able to start cities in non-
