My channeler is grossly obese. He loves to eat and laugh, making sure all his sla... followers are well fed too. He laughs with a great big belly laugh. as far as diplomacy goes, my character is too jolly to start wars with other channelers, though he tends to stab players in the back when they don't expect it. He expects AI to be predictable, so he tends not to surprise them with attacks. As far as expansion - I pretty much expend to places with lots

so is the alpha going to be limited to "duel" or are other game modes going to be available as well. Will it be multiplayer only as originally planned? Also, I notice what appears to be a lack of UI in the above shot. Will only limited UI features be available in the alpha?

I don't doubt your game is pretty awesome. But I think Stardock should redo dungeon keeper (or startopia, if nobody wants to compete with Overlord to properly fill DK's shoes, and because "startopia" might better match "stardock")

A lot of casual players base their sales on metacritic scores and results on sites like IGN. I guess I can't discount the "ooh the box looks pretty", "I've heard of this series name before", and other impulse buys. But usually somebody has to "hear" that a game is good before they buy it.

Well, it is logical to use a fast unit to scout enemy troops, run in and out on 1st or 2nd "turn". Perhaps a fog of war effect on tactical maps? That might slow down some of that MoM cheese. (at the same time, I expect dungeons to be very different from MoM and more like X-com) @paradoxnt: yeah, that was annoying. It makes sense when your defending a castle or something like that, but when it was just open field somewhere it was kinda dumb

I wasn't really supporting resource limit or turn limit. But that is what it does. I don't really like it that much either, but I understand its need. Personally I think the best way is where a resource drops down to a low income rate when it is "spent" such as in much of the Command and Conquer series, the resources slowly come back. Or in Dawn of War, you can sometimes exhaust req sources which drops production down.

personally I like the method of escape seen in Age of Wonders. So reaching the edge of the field will allow escape. (my problem with Age of Wonders is that you could get behind the escape tile)

you say its common sense, but I'm always shocked at how poor some multiplayer game saves can be. So I feel its important to say. I've seen some where only the host can save, or you can't make back-ups. Or some where it is near impossible to get players back together when a game is being loaded.

@luckmann: with you, there is no surprise. I find that in a game like this, having a resource to be finite, or appear to be finite (such as having mana nodes drain to a slow crawl) would encourage conflict and resolution. At the same time, if there are many resources (like this game) there is no way to really limit resources without messing up the flow a bit.

I love upgrading spells. Especially when it comes down to things like direct damage spells or certain enchantment spells that you really don't need duplicates (you have an AoE burst of direct damage, and another one that is higher level, more area, and more damage. What is the point of the other?) Denryu's idea Kinda reminds me of the "eagle eye" from HoMM. You could learn spells from others, but had to have the level to use it. O

I'd want a spell that might prevent fleeing. It could be a high level spell, but still. In HoMM I was always angry when I'd crush an enemy wizard down to like 1 unit then they would flee. Sometimes I'd have such an overwhelming force that I couldn't imagine how they could escape.

Demigod has some pretty good music. I wonder if Elemental is going to be able to benifit from similar talents. (I assume the music was related to GPG, but still.) I can imagine many different kinds of music. I'd think peace time to include a lot of woodwinds, and tictical battle music to include some soft brass. Perhaps remixes of music with major and minor keys for good and evil players respectivly.

don't forget you promised a game Solam ^_^ I'm not going on vacation, but I do hope it plays on my laptop. I also hope that at least early in the beta we get some Lan or Hotseat options.

Ideally you want both core and casual market. The casual market bring the sales, but the core market bring the casual market (if that makes any sense) if the core market claim something sucks, the casual market is much less likely to step up to the plate. the reason the Wii sold so quickly is because all the core fans rushed out and bought it, and from there the casual market took off. If you get only casual players, at best you might get a sleeper product, something

heh, I thought of a funny item (related to this) item: specticles (or bifocals, or something similar): increases research by channeler by +5% It would be nice if you could upgrade the research of your channeler as well as cities. I imagine that cities ultimatly are going to be your main resource and income source no matter what you do, but a very powerful channeler should be able to at least be comparable. He could

nice! I thought of metal for fire+earth myself, but I really like how you took it. A guy with a bunch of metal spikes in him and electricity running between the spikes creates a pretty exciting mental image, though honestly the rods that missed would likely act as a ground for the ones that did (i.e. would do less damage than it sounds) But there are ways to get around that, such as ignore physics (better solution than it sounds) A

well, annatar, its still good to be prepared. I mean, the forums might not be ending the world, but those canned beans will come in handy when the zombies attack. You can hole up in your house for quite a while provided you have water and good locks.
If your plan is to play one turn a day, PBEM is a much better method then direct online play, yeah. You do your turn when you feel like it, and the other person does theirs when they feel like it. It leads to very long games (real life time wise) and not a lot of people tend to use it, but for the people that do there's really no way to recreate what it does without it.
so very true. I'm one of those play by e-mail people. I used to do it i

no worries. Its not exactly the end of the world. I can still read posts and type replies, so the retro orginization and quote button is pretty low-priority

could magic items grant spell-like abilities? Like effectivly granting spell that can only be cast once every 5 turns (and it be added to the spell book and everything)

another note, for some reason the quote buttons stopped working in chrome at all (rather than just giving you the entire quote) so I'm foced to use the old-fashioned copy/paste and add quotes method.
Didn't you hear the word on the street? Zubaz' a jerk. Some guy called Anna-something told me.
Yeah, I think that person told me I was to get tickets to a bachelor party too

@KellenDunk: I find that often the best solution is the most simple. You could have very complex combat and tactics mechanics and have them be fun for a number of hardcore players. However, the best mechanics might be some very simple mechanics with only something like 5 basic easy to understand stats. I feel that the base game should be easy to pick up and play. So the world development and such can be very complex, but the 'surface features' should loo
