I've always found the 'word' "FAQ" funny, since everyone pronounces it either "fag" or "fake".
to avoid both problems, I always either read it out "Eff-Ae-kue" or by pronouncing the "A" softly like you would in the word "also" or "aardvark" and over emphesising the "Q" to sound similar to the work "squawk" "Fu-aa-qu" It starts to sound like a much dirtier word that way, but I like that word much more because it sounds like I'm angry.</p

Thank you! I planned to do it a long time ago too, but I'm lazy. I was motivated by dropping below 2nd place on the karma ranking after I fought so hard to obtain it ^_^ Do... you want a good collection of MoM portraits? I can give them to you. I'm tempted to go back and get the different faces (the happy and angry faces of each character)
Well, I'm a compeditive bastard. So... here's another avatar, so * raspberry * you know, I really like your style Wintersong. So I'm going to try it out <img src="http://landiscasner.com/images/stuff/avatars/head-winterstyle.
why would cities require essence to found? it isn't magic (well it might be, but after the 1st one there should be other ways of getting a bunch of people to move to a new location. Its not like 'settlers' are going to stop existing as a concept to those trying to expand a kingdom.)
totally, not only is it like paradoxnt says, damaging to the conflict of the game. (you'd never want to kill a channeler if it means the land you took from him returns to waste) but it does not make sense. The world existed before channelers just fine. The cataclysm wipped life from the world, and channelers are channeling the elements back into the world to make it living again... once the world has regained its ability to support life, why would it lose it a
I agree entirely with the "little forest" idea. I would have suggested the exact same thing. (I would also suggest something other than "field" to be the empty space. Things like rock formations (light rocks, so rough terrain), marsh (or just muddy areas), highlands, rolling hills, and the list goes on. (I vaguely recall a thread on the subject)
@wintersong: you should have only include "water" and "wind" on the avatar ring, since I don't think the fire symbol should be on the avatar of "snow yeti" :P (that's just how' I'd do it. playful nitpicking)
I had a poppy once. but it certainly did not have a cock... But seriously, a few generations of selective breeding and training could turn a black bear from a very fierce creature to a very cuddly creature. I'd have to agree that if you have access to bears, you can get whatever you want really. So it should just be "bears" as a resource. (well, I guess you could argue that if you have a training pen somewhere, bear resource would have to be moved to the place
I like spells wrecking havoc on terrain and such. In theory a lot of 2D work (and I mean a LOT) could mimic what possibilities exist in a 3D world. I don't really see how he used that example to explain why it wasn't MoM2... but whatever.
I was WAY too tickled by the yeti. It was awesome! (and all alone without a background to edit out, as is the problem with the other elemental critters so far, this makes it much easier to edit into other stuff) So here are some avatars!
I am a huge fan of this beast thing. I think its my fav. Elemental creature so far, by far. Talk of similarities to MoM (in idea of MoM 2) however, no mention of multiple worlds. (a primary feature of MoM) >. Are these the most frequently asked questions? (I always found the title of FAQs funny, since often they include questions that creators *think* will be frequently asked AND have a current an
Jeeze, people, it's seriously just a webpage! Why all the hate!
I think yatzee (zero punctuation) says it best. "fans are annoying complaining dip-sh*ts who will never be greatful for any consession you make" and its true. no matter how you do the updates, somebody's going to complaign. Anyway, I personally am on the side of the fence that does not like twitter, but I'm willing to give it a try if it means I get updates on a
yeah, that totally works! thanks wintersong. I'm too busy right now to create a unique image. so I'm just stealing yours. (I never noticed just how thin that guy is. I mean look at his legs and waist.)

Is the book going to have a public beta too? You know, where we get to read it and correct typos or something?
Isn't that what Spellcheck and the publisher are for?
SHHH, that isn't the point. I want insight. though typos goes beyond what spellcheck usually catches. Typos include grammar mistakes, some of which I don't believe would even be caught by the avara
Buy what your torrenting
very often (at least in my case) you can't buy what your torrenting. Things like AMVs (AMV hell in particular), community movies like Star Wreck and Big Buck Bunny (I know you CAN buy these, but they are officially distributed for free by the creators via torrent), foreign or very old movies/games (that I wish I could buy, but can't), and dare I say it, porn (why would you WANT to buy some of that stuff? some
man, where the heck is Tamren!? he'd be all over this thread.
I realized another pro for auto-resolve it is that it can help in playing the game with children, who might not actually be able to put up a fight in tactical combat. Also, it makes it easier to implement a handicap for those who actually do that sort of thing. If a heavy battle handicap is present on a tactical level, its fairly obvious what is happening. But in auto-resolve, the lines become a little more blurry and doesn't feel like the game is broken. (I used t
being able to rebind movement keys I feel is important. But I figured I'd make a "REBIND KEYS" post after the beta came out if I wasn't happy with the way they have been (or have not been) done.
It's the event at which Karsus tapped into the very essence of magic in an attempt to make himself a god, and caught Mystryl nude in the shower. Of course, Mystryl wasn't entirely pleased over this turn of events what with the nudity and the screaming, so she flipped the great light switch of magic, sending the entire civilization of Nethril plummeting down in their giant flying cities.
this amuses me.
You will be able to run Elemental /basic (i.e. /basic is a parameter) and play the entire game symbolically on the cloth map. If it's a good game, it should still be fun in that mode.
don't you mean "when* it's a good game" [e digicons];P[/e] I was actually a little sad in Gal Civ 2 because I always forgot to zoom in for battles, or when I did they did not always do something exciting. I don't expect this to be a problem in Elementa
I hope we create some clever strategies for the AI. O.o; I'm usually pretty bad at creating such thing. I just tend to be good at general micro which puts me about middle-high on any ladder or teir system (using other compeditive online strategy games like Starcraft as a base) So I guess the single player AI will be different from the multiplayer AI? (since the multiplayer AI will have to be mod-ready, where the single player won't
I must have been a loser hero user, because I don't think I ever had a hero that could take out 9 great drakes (for sure 4, but 9 is tough by himself) The armagedon spell however, I used all the time. (don't forget that the resulting volcanoes also destroyed the land upon which they appear. so not only do you start gaining redonkulous amounts of mana, but you also destroy the resources that might fund others military.) I'm under the firm impre
Landisaurus casts a spell: (image thanks to wintersong) I just wanted to point out, the above fansite has been getting news on it that could be missed here. Right now that pretty much only includes images found in the IRC chat or twitter (such as the concept art with was added in the news article for 6/17/09), so you may have seen them already. Bu
oh wow. That is interesting. I'd buy it (for fanboy reasons if nothing else). Will it be sold over impulse? Does it have to be hardcover? those are expensive. Perhaps only a limited number of hardcover and a bunch of softcover (depending on how good the book is, of course) Edit: Unless its one of those 3D pop-up books. You know, the kind we used to read as children (or at least I did). Those were awesome!
I smell a Harkonnen....
Sure, I wasn't thinking of them, but that works. I imagine they smell bad (he had boils or something on his face, right) (I was thinking of governor phat from monkey island 2, except with magic powers)
