yup, hope I can be as useful this time around as I was in the beta test of the original Galactic Civilizations - still have the original user's manual with my name in it.

[quote who="amckenzie4" reply="32" id="3405308"] Quoting athelasloraiel, reply 31 if you dislike steam, you can install, install game, remove steam execs and run games. Unfortunately I haven't been able to do that for any of the games I have from Steam. That's why I won't be buying GC3 if it's Steam only. The Steam client has pissed me off one too many times, and I'm seriously considering just looking for cracked copies of all the g

Thanks for the reply Kryo... As to "Value" I see that for some reason the editor removed the data I had right after that... value of "NumAsteroids" (I think the greater/less than signs caused it to be blocked out) Also...is there a limit to the number of asteroids per star? Again, thanks for any info.

Been working on my own map, and been searching all over the place, but haven't found specifics. Any one know (or link to) where I can find the following details: - Max Stars Allowed - Max Planets Allowed (per map, already know its 5/Star) - Max Asteroid Fields Allowed - Max Resources Allowed - Max Ships Allowed - Max distance Planets & Asteroid Fields can be placed from the Star - Do Asteroid Fields have to have an assiociated Star - What does the <NumA

Suggestion: I like the idea of having specific spaces on the planent for placing buildings and such (reminicent of Outpost). Remembering how many buildings (~35, not including 1/race or 1/game type buildings) there are in the game, What about making some building upgradable...specifically research, defense and entertainment buildings since there are multiples of each. For instance, when the second research

I am so looking forward to a more playable demo...and mostly the finished game... But... Playing the lastest update, I found after about 40 rounds, I could no longer control any ships, old or newly made. The game came back and said that it was out of range and would be auto-piloted back, putting the crew in stasis. This occured even with a newly made and launched ship sitting right beside the planet. Now...could s

Though saving a game does not cause a crash (on my machine) When I over-write a save-game, it is not until I drop all menus back to the game that I see the warning window: "Are you sure you want to over-write a previous save game?" Also, lost the "TURN" button and played around with anything I could for several minutes. That fails, I save game, exit game and try to reload...finding out I can't load the game again. Looking

Somebody reminded in a previous thread me about an idea I had, and or a request. An accidental launching of a colony ship, or with the inccorect amount of people. How about being able to re-integrate them back into the planet. It's like, once you launch it, you can't put it back into...'orbit' without colonizing a planet, otherwise it is just kicked back out beside the star. Maybe another way to move people from a high-population planet to a low population planet?

Oh yes, the other races do get clumped, even on gigantic galaxies (my preference). 2 games ago where I finished and entered it into metaverse, I was in the right side of the galaxy with a nice selection of stars to choose from. By the time I had at least 20 and could see the other races, they each had maybe 5 or 6 stars. With lack of stars, they couldn't advance enough to even come and get me...

Tried something just to see the difference in alien intelligence. Tried a map where I made sure I was close to an alien race with the following setting and encountered: Galaxy: Gigantic, All races Genius & Evil, had my sensors incread to the max for visibility. I had three nearby stars that had habitable planets. 1) In 4 turns, the Drengin had 5 stars and 7 planets. 2) Three Drengin planets had 1 or 2 Defender units 3) Drengin had at least 5 visible colony ships

Playing the game a lot lately and found these events: 1) Near mid-end game, I was wanting to give bc to some other races, to help them fight off the last race. Well all of a sudden I was getting massive amts. of bc every turn. Seems the bc'c I thought I was giving to the other races was also being deposited into my account. Must admit, was a very surprising thing, though not necessarily a bad thing. 2) Fou

Starting a new thread, the previous one looked a bit long... I have been finding it difficult to find all my starbases, especially when trying to send newly made constructors to them. How about when ship=view button is on, your starbases are somehow different and more readily visible than other ships? Would make things easier.

Well now I have recentrly tried all good... I get the same instability when the game changes to the new graphic representation for good. Game slows down, gets choppy and eventually CTD. (i presume that means crash to desktop?) So far, I have completed three games while remaining neitral, but unable to complete any games when either good or evil. Any ideas out there. When I stay neutral, the game flows perfecetly, game play is smooth, graphics work well, and t

BTW: What scenario will give you the largest score: 1. All evil vs. All Good players 2. Huge galaxy vs. tiny 3. Habitable planets, lots vs. rare 4. Technological vs. cultural vs. diplomatic vs. military wins. Would really like to know...whant to try with the hardest setting possible. Thanks

Just for the heck, I decided to try an all evil game. Kept the races the same: 3-evil, 2-good, huge galaxy, planents rare. The only difference, I did all the evil options. Things were fine until the game switched to the evil looking interface. All movement became choppy and slow. There were several pauses throughout the game, and it eventually crashed to desktop. Never had it happen once while playing relatively neutral. Have not tried making all good decisions. I

I agree, there needs to be some intelligent planetary placement. My latest game, (AI Smart, 3-evil, 2-good) I had the entire right half of the board. The other five civilizations had the left and there were no intervening planents in the middle for them to be able to bridge over into my area. By the time they spread out, each had maybe 3-5 planets each, while I was fortunate to have around 18. Not really fair or balanced, though it was a change from the norm...usually quite

Mostly to the game developers... My friends and I like board games (Axis&Allies, Civilization, etc) I believe GC would go well as a 2-6 person board game. I am contemplating on making one that my friends an I might try (So far it has been a VERY SLOW process.) What are your thoughts? What about other GC playeers, what do you think?

As far as I have seen, also a previous player of MOO and lookingforward to the new iteration, GC seems to be better! Are the graphics as good? Probably not, but the graphics are not exactly what interests me most. It's the game...how playable is it? How many times? Does it keep me interested? The answer is yes to GC! I have many nights where I didn;t go to bed until 6 or 7 the next morning. MOO3...I was looking forward to it, but now I'm not sure. Why did

As was previously mentioned in a long thread concerning some bugs in the new program, when ever an alien ship attacks one of my ships that is not in orbit, it completely crashes the system (can't even use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end task) I have a good game going now and hate to lose it. Should I save it or is there a good chance that the save game I have will work in the upcoming patch? I would hate to put my good work to waste.
