Quoting Hyrim, reply 4The online game is more dynamic - suddenly fleet choices, strategy and advanced tactics matter Not so sure about this one really but if you're up for a SC2 style click fest then sure. Advanced tactics such as flanking, decoying, macro and micro managing your ships and their abilities as well as fleet composition and what goes where can be had on larger maps with harder AI opponents (to

The idea of setting a fixed time for committing to fleet upgrade capacity is a silly one, it ought to be decided by strategic considerations during the match - the reason this question even came up is because in the single player game the AI is not challenging enough to force you to build a bigger fleet. In multiplayer it is not viable to sit on a pile of cash - you simply must build fleet, now, or be annihilated. I suggest you try out multiplayer or, if you wish to s

The normal AI is a joke, trying playing on a harder difficulty settings - I'd suggest a minimum of hard or unfair. At that level the AI is still a joke, but a joke with truck loads of credits. On these difficulty settings learn how to be aggressive, how to colonise quickly (i.e. using lone colony frigates with static defence platforms), how to make an economy quickly and indeed how to make a fleet quickly. Anything more advanced than these basics cannot be learnt offline. Make the

An interface thats pretty and doesn't make my eyes die. I like the idea of parchment everywhere, I just think the current implementation does give the impresion of quality that I'm expecting from the game itself.

Mutliple graphics for same building - I think they have said this will be in the game already, I know they have said they will graphics for when you have multiple of the same building next to each other (e.g. 4 farms together becomes mega farm). They should also do something to look the borders between towns look more natural.

I can only think of Diablo type games and in my mind they tap the same RPG itch in a slightly different format.
Um.... Warcraft 3. Also Sins of a Solar Empire

Are you playing against the advent? In the late game they can build culture cannons (superweapons) which sends a huge culture hit to any planet the players wishes. This is more common in single player than multiplayer though, as in multiplayer its consider to be weak and inefficient as far as superweapons go

Is there still a team working on the graphics side of things? I'm just wondering becuase because in the first screen shot it looks like random buildings pushed together rather than an organic city. Sorry if this has been asked to death

Well what you do is to register the serial number to an impulse account. Once its registered you can redownload it as many times as you like. You can archive a game, alowing you to back it up to a cd drive from which you can reinstall it (with all patches allready installed if you archived a fully updated version). So really GOO is hassle free and I have no problem using. Yes its DRM but it skips all the annoying intrusive things usualy asso

Pentium 4 is old, and was never that well designed to start off with. My laptop has a 2 year old mediocre T7250 2 ghz dual core and it runs sins without issue or lag (unless you are talking about end game hughe multi start map). I am freely able to alt tab out and browse the internet, and can run itunes in the background no problems. Its probably time to switch to a newer CPU. You would need to upgrade the motherboard too but the rest of the components could probably be retained

Entrenchment is definatley worth it. Starbases are a massive improvement to the game and add a significant strategic layer to the game. Also probably 90% of online games are on entrenchment, if you ever get the itch to play versus real people (which you should because its great fun). It is a separate game to vanilla, and you will still be able to play vanilla sins at will. If the downloading makes you uncomfortable just back it up to a cd the first time you download it.

One thing that would be nice is to be able to put bounty on a particular planet/structure/ship rather than an entire civilisation. So you could get pirates to snipe out some unprotected labs which would be a bigger improvement than just improving ships which are still going to waste themselves uselessly on defesnes anyway
