It went up at 1AM... So probably before Draginol even went to bed for the night... So for him it was still yesterday... Kind of like me right now, having not slept yet. =P Edit: The Original Post I mean, not the build. >.

Oh, absolutely that'd be a problem... But, the OP wanted suggestions on how to make this idea good, so I offered the best ideas I could think of. I honestly don't really see it working given the very mod-community friendly atmosphere Stardock has put around E:WoM. It is a genuinely cool idea though, and ya never know. =P

It did seem dismissive, but more than that, I think you may have misunderstood the point the OP was driving at. He wasn't exactly crystal clear about it either. But now it seems like you're on track with the topic, so, no harm done.

One... What are you even talking about? It's like you didn't even read the posts. Two... If you're here to 'argue', then I think you're here for the wrong reasons. Good debate towards the end of trying to help make Elemental be all it can be should be the only thing even similar to arguing that we're doing. Three... You nailed the problem right on the head with your post, but you're treating it as if it's the answer. We know there will be sp

I'm pretty sure Elves (and all their variations,) Dwarves, Gnomes, and the stereotypical Fantasy Setting Races are something they're trying to avoid. Elves don't seem like they'd fit in E:WoM either, at least not to me. Kingdoms, Sub-races and the like are the best way to go IMO. Whole new races as playable would still have to fit within the games lore, and considering the world of Elemental is supposed to be relatively desloate, I don't see there being that many.

The flip-side to the trading thing for MP games... Let's look at the example of the Casual Gamer VS the Hardcore Gamer, or if you prefer, the Utterly Screwed Player VS the Been-Winning-The-Whole-Game-From-Turn-Freakin'-One Player. Let's say Casual Gamer has the second or third piece of a Schematic, (That's what I think they should be called, Spell or Item, it makes decent sense for both, though less for Spells,) that Hardcore Player needs... Now, Hardcore Player, being w

You're in the same boat as I, except I pre-ordered at least a week ago now... https://forums.elementalgame.com/379420/page/2 That's a link to the second page of a similar thread to yours where Beta Access is explained in pretty good detail. Cheers!

Losing a small percentage of a force to bypass what could otherwise be a total route would be a small price to pay... Even if they are granted bonuses for proximity, it pretty much defeats the purpose of building the Fort, for their protection and defense, in the first plac

Tasunke's not dismissing his point of view, he's saying they disagree and it's become obvious to him there's nothing he can do to change his mind... More or less, agree to disagree, or at least that's how it read to me. Personally, I've gotta agree with Tasunke on this one. Haven't played yet, but the way it's handled now does seem like it's working better, particularly for the people actually playing it. There are bound to be people who don't like the system, as you

@Tridus: Yes, it similar to something you'd hear on the BNet forums... I was surfing them before I got on here and that's what got me so freakin' heated about it. I don't like what they're doing to the Protoss. It seems like they're getting the shaft to me, and the math proves it, though I won't get into that... (If you really wanna know, I'll show you to the proof... Though, you might get called names for the asking.) But let me reiterate a coupl

I think we can all agree with Dsraider, as it's cool. In response to magic schools countering one another... I dislike that... I'll cede right off the bat that, yes, it works, and the 'Why fix what isn't broken,' approach is just fine, especially given the setting... But Magic is supposed to be... Well, magical... It never made a whole lot of sense to me for magic to be so neat and ordered. Rather, it's meant to be chaotic power bursting forth f
Zone of control should take into account the size of the defending unit. A company of 10 men can't "control" a tile and the surrounding tiles. A company of 10 000 men can. Even more if they have some scouts in the army. In elven legacy some units can ignore zone of controls, and that's a good thing. It opens a lot of possibilities.
Maybe in real life they can't, but it has to be kept in mind that this is all to the scal

Well, I talked it over with my friend some today. Like I said before, they have a habit of releasing builds on Thursdays it seems, and my friend said that, at least in his experience, the new builds/patches show up in his Impulse between 5-7 PM, on average. (That's on the Time Zone of the forums btw, not his TZ.) My guess, however, is they'll release it once they've got whatever they want ironed out ironed out... They process the order either when Access is given, or

If you didn't receive any confirmation E-Mail from Stardock, then it's a relatively safe guess that it didn't go through or you didn't order it the first time... Buuuuuut, this is money we're talking about, so that does nothing to alleviate the worries you may have about spending 50 dollars too many for a game you've already paid for. Best thing you can do is call Stardock Customer Support first thing in the morning and see if they can help you. Edit: Make sure to

I like Tiavals suggestion. Make it a choice. Frogboy and others have said it a million times. Choice is good. At the very least, I'd like to see it as a moddable thing in the retail release of the game. If you won't implement it into the normal game, functionality to change and/or create races/sub-races/species/etc., would be a really cool feature methinks.

Well, I think they've got a few choices as how to handle it... Which they could easily implement all of, as an actual choice you make upon liberating/conquering a city. Some suggestions to that end: Enslave - The city maintains the characteristics of its founding race, but an 'Upper-Caste' of people from your own society is implemented to keep order and force the peasantry to bend to your will. This could also come with a chance for revolution that could be affecte

@Tasunke: I like that idea... But isn't that a little off-topic? I need a quick preface... Soulfire, you mentioned that the Archer trying to defend/re-take the Mine from the Fortified Position almost always fights at a disadvantage... So why not, instead of penalizing the opponent, just give a bonus to your troops for being in the vicinity of the fort/castle/tower/etc.? I don't know how this stacks up against all the other good ideas already posed

3:30 AM in my TZ when I'm typing this sentence. (Roughly, anyway.) I want to talk about life, and how Elemental has factored into my life. For reference, I'm 20, want to Design Games for a living, love Video Games, and an Insomniac. (That last part's just for explaining what the hell I'm doing up at this hour. =P ) Now, I've spent months, MONTHS, lurking these Forums, waiting for this game... I did finally break down and Pre-Order last week so I

@Irongamer The filter option is something not many people are aware of right off the bat. The only reason I even know it's there is because I've been lurking around in these forums for months, and it's been mentioned before. So, basically, I just parroted what I've read already. =P @Strager I've no clue. The only frame of reference I have is that my friend's had the Beta since it was released, and I doubt he ever took notice of exactly when the

Seeing as how the next build hasn't been released yet, at least to my knowledge, it's no surprise Impulse isn't registering it for you. Given my timezone, it's close to 5 AM when I'm writing this... So, I'd guess another 24-36 hours before release, and that's only if they are, in fact, releasing the new build tomorrow. (As far as I'm aware, nothing has been confirmed by any of the Stardock staff, but they seem to have a habit of releasing the new builds on Thursda

Well, I'm not actually a Tester (YET!), and as such probably don't have much of a place commenting on this, but here's what I've gathered... Elemental: War of Magic is, obviously, incomplete. Here are, what I have observed to be, some of the more common problems with the beta in its current state, as well as how that relates to moving on to Beta 2. [Minor - Major] Bugs - Obviously... I mean, it's a freakin' Beta... But there are TONS o
