One inportant piece of advice he missed was, even if you don't want to put points into your character's minions, you can still buy Idol minions. I personally believe that the first level Idol minions are the most cost-efficent items in the game, so buying them sometime in the early-mid game is a good plan. Even if you don't hold them in such high reguard, you have to admit being able to use 8-11 item slots will give you an advantage compared to people stuck with 5-8.

If you make sure to fight Erebus where creeps clash (obviously he's not gonna run into a wave on his own), you can use Surge to wipe half the creeps on his side, and buff yourself, your minions, and your creep wave. An Erebus putting so many points i

Actually, Stardock was only able to make code to get people connected in the first place, and that works pretty well. Not flawless, but it went from about 50% sucess to about 95% sucess, so overall Stardock did a good job there. The code to keep you connected, and the other aspects of pvp, are controlled soley by Gas Powered Games. Next week is going to be the first patch they made (to my knowledge), so at least reserve a little judgement until you see how that goes.

My point is, if he's gaining more life from life steal than you're damaging him, he's also dealing three times or more to you, and you're gonna be dead in three seconds anyway. In that condition, yes, you're dead. It's got nothing to do with life steal.

It doesn't make sence, but that doesn't make it overpowered. :P The max life steal you can get is like... 32%? If he's dealing over three times the damage you are... you get nothing. You lose. Good day sir.

Honestly a win record doesn't mean much when 90% of people just disconnect when they lose. I think disconnects should count as losses, but that's a bit offtopic.

Well the positive with Oak is that his Surge of Faith affects all nearby allied units... himself, his sixteen creeps, the creep wave near him, an allied Demi... add in Morale mainly for the attack buff (although the hp buff for your idol minions is cool), and Fell-Drakur, and your minions are a force to be reconed with. In the mid-late game I've chucked my minions at someone's face while I ran back to the crystal, and have been fairly pleased to find out they've done over 50% damage to him wh

As Oak, you're not gonna do well at level 6 or so with surge of faith and pentiance, because you're about as squishy as Torchbearer without the actual damage output. Act high and mighty as you want, but that guy won fair and square.

45 Replies 27,882 Views

Oak is squishy under level five, and average-at-best under level 10. Shield doesn't last long enough to be anything more than an "omg save me" button, and UB outspeeds and outdamages Oak. Over level 10 he's good all around, but on the other hand doesn't have any massive advantages to press.

I take it sometimes in the later half of the game, as Oak. Honestly I think Oak is the only one who would, it gives drastically more effect to the 10-minion demis than the 4-minion demis, and Erebus has a lot of assasinish abilities he'd probably rather use. However, Morale also buffs idol minons, which is pretty cool. What's sixteen times four times five? A lot of dead enemies. :D

Just tested it to make sure, and yep, Morale affects Idol minions. So, hypothetically, with the Ring of Divine Might (favor item), Gloves of Fell-Drakur, and five points into morale, you get +38 damage, 15% attack speed, 250 hp and armor, and 2.5 HP/s, for each of sixteen minions, all with their own base stats and abilities. That's a total of 608 attack, 4000 hp, 40 HP/s... ontop of what they do naturally, which, if I remember, is around 300 dps. (for 10 spirits and all

One thing about these tables... in general, cheaper items give you a bigger boost for your money. But, you're stuck with 5-8 total items. It's really easy to buy up all the good 500-1500 items and max out your slots, then you're going to have to buy less efficent items to proceed.

That's a good tip on Nature's Reckoning (Wreckoning :P). 250*.15 = 37.5, and that's assuming it only hits one enemy. Although a lot of the abilities overlooked in that table make a huge contribution in the use of the item, for 1500 gold that's pretty good. - Do you know if "nearby enemies" counts the enemy you just hit, or only things around it?
is it worth picking up idols
I think the level 1 idols are the most cost efficent items in the game, and you should always get all three first. Priests are the fastest way to regen hp after the health crystal or HoL, Archers outrange towers and hit multiple enemies with their attacks, and Minotuars are dirt cheap. Additionally, things that generically say they effect your "minions", like the Glove of Fell-Drakur, also include Idol minions. Therefo

I think the hp/second is pretty ignorable. 5hp/second is only 300 hp over an entire minute. Running to the health crystal and back is maybe 30 seconds and will refill thousands of hp and mp. HoL, of course, is even faster. The first level idol priests will refill you to 100% hp in about that same minute, from almost nothing. Oddly, Vlemish Faceguard, for the same $$, gives you 15 mp/second, and usually players have a much smaller mp pool than hp.

I have sort of a general question... My upload speed, cpu, ram, and gpu are all about twice as good as are reccomended (optimal, not minimum), I'm playing on all-medium settings in a windowed 1024X768 resolution, and I'm still getting a really low sim speed in some of the larger maps, online. Is this to be expected?

I think flag locks are overrated... yes, if you know you're gonna lose a flag, use one. Hoever, use it too early on middle flags, and you're really wasting money. Your opponents will just farm creeps wether the flag is locked or not, and with the extra xp and gold they get, you're going to lose a lot of flag battles.
