From what I have learned, I would rather not try to do starts again. There are a lot of details involved of which I was not aware. It would probably be better to go with a premade map.
So I 'unstarted' the game. However, I cannot change the map file. We have 2 choices now. Restart and hope the positions are groovy. Delete the game, and remake a new one with a new map, or a fixed map.
Admin options--> alter game settings will allow you to choose a new map.
Although I am not against the patch, I think it might create problems for me.
llamaserver will probably patch once it is out of beta, so I doubt that will be an issue ghostwes.
My apologies for the map issues. I took on a task that was beyond my current skill and knowledge level. Sorry for the delays and restarts.
Restarting is fine, but we'll need to make sure everyone is on board with it, and have wonderloss explain what happened with the map.
I asked Elana for the start locations. Once I have those I can figure out what went wrong. For assigning starts, I could not find a way to set provinces as "start" so I had to set all of them as "nostart" except the ones I wanted to be starts. I may have overlooked one or made some o
Are the crowns on the map the starting capitals then?
No, they are not. They are victory points. They are automatically added, but they only matter if victory points are on. They are not on for this game, so they have no effect.
The citizens of Pangea rejoice at this day. Hanan'el, Son of Azazel has been slain in an assault on one of our fortresses. The generals of Pangea provide extra wine rations for everyone.
Unstarted. Back to waiting for pretenders. That was a mistake on my part.
I have been mulling over an idea for a game. I want to play LA R'yleh in a game, but I do not have the time for another game with daily turns. I think a "relaxed schedule" game might work. It would be one turn a week (though I imagine it would go faster for the first few turns). Small game-6 players, 12 provinces per player, to keep it from dragging on too long with the slow pace. If any of you might be interested, let me know and I will start a new thread.
According to llamabeast, admin commands are processed first. I just postponed hosting for 10 days. That means if there are any hiccups with turns getting in, there will be plenty of time to get them sorted out. I also turned off quick host, so I will need to manually restart the game to get it to host before the 10 days are up. Theoretically, this will prevent any problems.

I can handle it until the weekend.
The denizens of Pangea rush from the forest, pouring out over the territories of the giants. Some gains are made, though there are some small losses. The giants are not unbeatable. The towering Sons of the Grigori can be seen on the outskirts of Pangea's heartland. What doom awaits them if they step too far in?
You are welcome. You do not need the .tga file, though this does mean you cannot see the map in a new game. The .tga will be included with the turn files for this game. I decided not to include it, due to the fixed starts. If someone has the .tga, it would provide them a way to find out where all of the capitals are located. If you would like to load up the map ingame, I can make a .tga available that does not have fixed starts.
Game is set up here: http://www.llamaserver.net/gameinfo.cgi?game=DawnOfTheMorning Map can be downloaded here: http://www.4shared.com/file/auiIwib8/Dawnofthemorning.html Llamaserver instructions here: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.p
I already made a random map and set the starts. I have to convert it to tga so I can upload it to the llamaserver site. When I get it done this evening, I will go ahead and set up the game. I will stick with default settings for gem sites, indies, etc. edit-Looking into things, I find that spaces in file names are a no-no. That might be why the map would not upload. I had assumed it was the format.
I was planning to make a random, but I can take a look at those two maps. It might be easier to find balanced starts on one of the default maps. My main goal will be to give plenty of breathing room between caps, and secondly try to make sure no one gets stuck on a swamp or wasteland surrounded by more swamp and wasteland.
I will leave the rushing to the giants.
Switching from peaceful expansion to gearing up for war probably tripled the amount of time it takes for a turn. Changing my strategy from moving one or two expansion parties, recruiting a few units, with an occasional forge or search order thrown in to "move these guys here, set these orders for these troops, these spells for this caster. I will move here, no here. Should I defend here, or try to take these provinces?" It has gotten more interesting, though. edit- The other i
I will try to work on the map this evening. I should have time. 16 or so provinces per nation sound good? I will go with a limited amount of water.
The numerous denizens of the very fertile nation of Pangea must relocate into other territories to spread out their population. We apologize to any displaced persons.
I think his advice would be stay away from large, man-eating giants and demon monkeys.
Postponed 12 hours. We have 48 hours now, so please try to get your turns in on time.
