If nothing else, you could turn off the 3d engine and just use the cloth map.

This isn't really a cheat, it's a shortcut. The player can do it the hard way anyway. I'd prefer more normalization of start locations myself. There is a huge variance in the quality of a start location right now.

I'd love to see a GalCiv 3 with more advanced ship combat. Hell, what I'd REALLY love is where you get into the cockpit of one of your ships and fly around in combat ala Tie Fighter. But that's probably not going to happen. :)
Let's hope so, because the "overall" balance is in a bad condition in Beta3.
It's the first build where most of the game is enabled, so that's not surprising. This is when we can actually take a serious look at it.
I understand. and the stories that do make fun of this trope are few and far between. Wheel of Time's Lan is one of the best swordsman you meet for the first half of the series or so. He gets faced with 7 ordinary thugs and he thinks to himself he will probably die and looks for a way out of there. And I'm perfectly okay with Champions destroying legions of men over the course of a game and coming out fine. It fit
No. If you want in the beta you have to buy from Stardock directly. Not sure if Europeans can order the box version from them, but if you can shipping might be painful. If you want a retail version it might be best to wait.

But to be honest, Annatar has

When I say "Super Unit", like the Sovereign IS and Should Be, I mean a Single Character that's able to take out 100 Mundane Soldiers by Himself. If we don't have that then you guys better start asking them to REMOVE Volcano NOW, because if it's not removed I'm going to MELT Everyone's Cities with it and Kill Off WHOLE ARMI

I quoted it above. I don't see
Tridus, my friend, I still think if done "right" it's the way to go. We already have Mechanics that allow the player to raise a Volcano and destroy a city. That right there is one God Like Unit taking out a entire city with thousands of people if the defending Sovereign doesn't stop the spell from being cast. Right?
There are defenses for that though (spell defenses on the city, attacking their shards so they can't cast

Ever since Frogboy's example, that's been the core complaint from people who want champions to be mildly glorified soldiers.
No, this was going on before teleportion came up. In fact the teleportion post was itself a response to this (which is why it also include a mention of all the complaints about high power NPCs showing up).
You're the only one

If a high ranking uber mage type can blow up armies with volcanos I would expect him to teleport or learn to fly or something too eventually.
Doesn't help you if you're pursuing a millitary path and not a magical one, which people have previously campaigned to make a perfectly viable path to victory.
I honestly Don't See a Problem with having a Super Powerful Champion by End Game. Remember back in MoM by End Game when you could make Super Powerful weapons and Armor for your Champions that made them Invincible and Unstoppable? That was fun as hell. I prefer the second option, actually. Though I seem to be in the minority on that. :)
Why shouldn't a powerful army face peasant opposition? Defending is already easier then attacking. Higher lvl cities give % hitpoints (pretty sure about that.) When you attack early, you invest a few lvls in Warfare instead of other categories. You also have to FIND an opponent and travel over to him. That's more then enough time for the other players to mount a defense.
A powerful army is one t
Not at all, my friend. What people aren't understanding apparently is you can hit Auto Resolve in the Middle of a Battle if You want. This means you can control the battle long enough to make sure you're going to win without taking massive losses, THEN hit Auto Resolve so you don't have to "Mop Up". It's a choice given to the player. I don't want each and every battle in the game to take forever, nor do I want each and every battl
