My current 1.20 game, getting close to Turn 300, has just started to get stuck. However, for me it is happening in the middle of a turn. Everything works except I can't move or attack. So, yes, I save and reload, but let's hope they can snuff this bug out. UPDATE: After I exited the game completely, relaunched, and reloaded, I had no further problems.

An interesting and thought provoking post. I do disagree with you on the following balance points, however: 2. I don't like any change that makes snaking more powerful than it already is. 8. I think Tireless March is plenty powerful at +1, especially with the modifier affecting tactical combat. 9. I like the Governor specialization choice a lot. I think eliminating it as a choice would be a mistake.

Interesting. I had a reply all set to go shortly after this was first posted. Then I looked again, and I concluded everything the OP was saying was said tongue-in-cheek in order make the point that manual road building wasn't micromanagement any more than any other aspect of the game he was supposedly "attacking."

[quote who="Bellack" reply="57" id="3311202"]Well in order to understand this you have to study the mind set of the Fan-boy. Fanboys love a game no matter what. They do not listen to reason and are very illogical when it comes to the game they have fixated themselves on. They elevate the game to a god like status and any criticism of the game they will attack. Criticism of their game is a personal affront to them and they can be quite nasty in it's defense (sounds a little like

Is there more unit diversity, perhaps link to racial choice in some way? I like the diversity. There are different classes of weapons, and each has its own advantage. There is armor that requires iron and other pieces that require crystal. There are numerous traits that can be assigned to units. There are also specific racial advantages. While there are a few who say there isn’t enough diversity, I am very pleased with designing units. <

I vehemently disagree it would be good for some of the computer opponents to concentrate on Spell of Making. The last thing I want to do is get well into a game and then get the message that the computer just won by casting Spell of Making. Furthermore, some say the spell is far too easy. However, as a player, I have the choice to use it or not, so it doesn't hurt the game.

1. Improve the function of the left-side slider bar for units/cities/quests. It is hard to scroll up and down without scrolling the world map to the left. Also, after scrolling, the Enter key no longer ends the turn. One possibility would be to (optionally?) add a second column. 2. I use the arrow keys a lot to move around the strategic map. It drives me crazy that I have to instead use the mouse to scroll the map in tactical battles. 3. I would like to be able to edit my cust

The suggestion to make up your own city names works great. It took a little research to track down how (did I miss a working link above?), so I thought I'd share what I found out. As directed, I edited one of my custom race files located in C:\Users\Bill\Documents\My Games\FallenEnchantress\Race. The next line after ... I added: Daisy Appleby Bilson <

Just brainstorming here: What if instead of making Pioneer units cost gold, charge gold for the founding of a city. Maybe 10 gold per rating (so a 3/2/2 would cost 70 gold).

[quote]Okay, other main thoughts. Tactical combat is boring. It's fun for a little bit, but then it really starts to get a bit dull. I've read about people asking for backstab, flanking mechanics, etc, and I had a wonderfully elegant implementation that would make combat lots of fun! Add in 20-30 unique combat SKILLS, like: Backstab (x2 DMG if an ally flanks target) Sunder (Reduces a targets defense for 2 rounds. Stacks) Pikewall (Replaces s

Two things I hope are fixed in the next version are: 1. Stuck heroes as described in some of the above posts. I attacked a Kraxis city that had eight units, the majority of them were wounded champions. Only three of the nine showed up in battle. After they were defeated, I gained control of the city, but the rest of the enemy units remained in my new city. I tried reloading several times and consistently got the same result. Originally, this happened using frogboy's 1.19 beta version. However, I switched back to 1.1, reloaded from the original 1.1 save file, and got

So, as a workaround until they fix this, will moving up next to a monster and then choosing to attack it avoid this behavior? (Just be sure auto-end-turn is off.)

One of the charms of this game is the random maps. There are no guarantees you will have iron, or crystal, or whatever readily available. It makes for some interesting situations and gives the game good replayability. Of course, you can have a starting position that is absolutely horrible, and you can have some games where the resources are too sparse. So, random maps are a tradeoff. It's possible you've simply had bad luck with the random number generator that created your ma
