It looks good. Performance is indeed faster. I didn't play more than 30 turns, so I can't comment on the OOM problem. But then again, I don't think I've ever played more than 30 turns, so maybe the game just works well with my system. Nice job, hopefully the next update will make me want to play more than 30 turns.

I have the strong suspicion that each tech will have a moddable XML tag that defines the liklihood that it shows up. Therefore, with a minimal amount of work, we will be able to have it both ways. IMO, this is a nonissue.

And it's ran well for me for awhile, so I am waiting for the fun. 1.1 was fun for a short time, but with quest being meaningless, factions being generic, and combat and gear being unbalanced, the fun didn't last. Just thought of something. This is important. A big problem with this game is armies looking generic. Maybe

I'm going to assume that you read my first post and not just re-quote it here. If the criterion for releasing the game is: "It must be awesome," I don't really understand why the developers would willfully ignore the best aspects of other games in the genre, especially when

Looking into the ElementaldDefs.xml, it seems like the ability to do this is there (it looks like there are tags for both a linear and exponential component). Combine that with a nominal cost in gold for each research/arcane lab (and any scientist knows that the amount of money provided is directly

Civ technologies are much more interesting because they have: historical meaning to us unlock iconic units of the era, rather than bland weapons unlock buildings that, unlike WoM, have more impact on your civilization than in WoM. e.g. some buildings affect happiness, culture, specialist slots unlock new ways to improve terrain and lets

Listen, I hate to be negative at all after you took the time to put something together for us to look at... But, the old tech trees just screamed 'bland'. And while I like everything that you're doing here, I think that a little bit of flavor text, less utilitarian titles, and more nuanced tech function would go a long way. Because, honestly, right now you might as well name them 'Unlock Game Mechanic 1', 'Unlock Game Mechanic 2', 'Unlock Game

I think that this is more or less doable right now through the xml (or the stat bonuses are, anyway). The main thing that's not possible is the shapeshifting, and that would be pretty fantastic to see in the future. Obviously, any changes to the model to go along with it are impossible, too.

[quote who="Lord Xia" reply="9" id="2928698"]SETI was a waste of time and money. Say you hear something meaningful from a system that's at a moderate distance away, say 50,000 light years (or half the way across our galaxy). That means that the signal was sent 50,000 years ago, and any return signal won't arrive until 50,000 years after

Congrats, Xmorg. A couple comments. I'd really love to see some hidden nationality mechanic associated with this trait. Probably some balancing issues if this trait was the only way to tap into it, though. Also, I still think that the assassination trait was pretty fantastic. I'd love to see that one in, as well.

I agree completely with the OP. My only suggestion is to select randomly from the list of pre-defined names after the capital is founded (or at least start at a random position in the list). I did get kind of tired of having the same city name progression in each game of SMAC and FfH2 (Golden Leane, Balderham, Timberling, etc.) I almost never saw the names at the bottom of the list, which is a waste.

Wait, does this suggest that the different factions have different AIs attached to them? That's kind of what it sounds like from this post, and I didn't think that was the case.

Just to add something to what kenata said, while there really isn't a narrative storyline, RPG elements were still present and surprisingly good. True, I wasn't expecting much, but that only meant that I was occasionally very surprised. Just to give one example, I bought some cattle for a villiage in some lord's fief. Later, when I ran across him, he brought it up. He said something to the effect of "I know you mean well, but please don't give my subjects any more aid, I&

These kind of posts make me sad. Mainly because I crave a game with all the best aspects of Civ and all the best aspects of WoM. Which, sadly, will never happen.
