Tactical battles: AI re-design Magic tech: Clairvoyance (allows remote channeler to cast spells into a battle) Tactical battles: Casting time on spells.
Nice! It's looking good so far (though I'm a little dissapointed to see the essence thing removed). I wonder if the same Imbue mechanic will still be in place... Also, has anyone heard anything about what "exotic things" are, exactly? Appreciate the continued work, can't wait to see it!&nb
Makes me wonder if there will be caster type specific weapons that give bonuses to spells (dmg amount, amount of squares it affects, healing increases by a certain percentage), spell resistance. Special type of rods/staffs/wands that require crystals and a certain elemental shard to make, ect, ect. Basically something that makes your spell casters more dangerous or helpful.
Check the StrategyInformer interview to make sure,

I think that they meant the 7th according to their local time zone. It's not their fault your 7th is over a lot earlier than theirs is.

You know, I'd pay good money for some DLC that implemented a dynasty system like Crusader King's. I don't think it's completely incompatible with the "You are your Sovereign" idea. Maybe he's just too busy to run the day to day business of your towns. Maybe the sovereigns are all worshipped as God-Kings and their religions spread through the cities of the world like Civ IV. Maybe you even define your religion upon character creation, and it would give you benefits in all t

You know what I'd love to see? I'd love to see a Dev Journal that outlines how you get from Point A to Point B from here, where Point A is: having the code for a large handful of combat-related variables implemented, and Point B is: having a fun, deep combat system implemented. Not that I actually expect you all to do one just because I asked. Just curious, is all.
Not really. Sovereigns will not only usually be a player's toughest hero but will have tons of nasty magic to fall back on. If you can get a champion with the trait to such a high level that he can actually kill a sovereign then you deserve to win. Would probably only work well against players who shelve their sovereign.
True. But say you have a full stack of well equipped troops led by your sovereign. You're fighting me, w

Admitting that I didn't read any of the full list, I have to disagree. I would like to see all five of these in the game. I went with Hidden Assassin. The fact that that it even made the final five seems to indicate that it's possible to code in, in theory... and this makes me pretty excited. Of course, I forsee some major balancing problems with this one when used against sovereigns. But, since Stardock doesn't pay me anything, I'll let the developers deal with that o
i don't like RPS either, and it looks to me that elemental won't follow that path. it does seem to me that there are to many modifiers for it to be that simple. i am very excited at seeing the end result.
My thoughts exactly. With as many variables as are involved with combat now, I think that the results are going to be hard to predict until we actually get to play the game. And Kael's comments abou

And people wonder why developers rarely bother to talk to the player base of games. Sheesh.
You seem stressed out, dude. Have you considered taking up drinking?

Nice job, fellas! I like this alot. Especially the Armor Piercing stat. Thanks to Kael and everyone else behind the scenes for developing the game mechanics a bit further.

A few things: Yep, you can issue orders during the pause. I've never played any other Paradox games, but from what I've heard, louist has it right. He's also right about there being no easy way to trace inheritances. Say you want to marry off one of your brothers to potentially have a claim on some territory down the line. This involves looking up the distribution of inheritance laws by province, and browsing through lots of stats screens to get a look at t

Well, IA, not knowing your financial situation or tastes in games, I'd only be speculating... But having said that, I'd speculate that if you enjoy dynasty building, this is probably a good bet for you. I do have to say that it's not a game that makes want to drive home from work at 100 mph to play, but when I do get into a game (which is fairly often), a few hours will fly by like nothing. If you're still unsure, keep an eye on GamersGate, as it goes on sale there eve

Why I love this game: Alright, I really have to rave about this game for a minute. I'm normally pretty blah on most PC games these days, but this game has really reminded me why loved in the first place. For anyone else who feels that most games these days are little more than interactive movies, I strenuously recommend picking it up. I bought the game (and the expansion) on Impulse a few days back (only 20 some dollars) and it's quickly becoming

You sure as hell can't question his business ethics (whatever that means).

Nice find. Interestingly enough, one of the most reliable short-term "cures" for depression is sleep deprivation. I would imagine that what was reported in that article is capturing some of the mechanism behind that. The brain is a pretty odd machine, huh?

Case in point: I bought Crusader Kings Complete earlier today on Impulse, like 8 years after it was released. And I don't know what the hell is going on in that game quite yet, but I think that I like it. Now if I could only bind the pause function to the space bar...

Umm... it's been a while since I've played, but isn't there a limit of 12 unit/unit formations already in the game? You really want to make the battles even smaller?

I'm pretty ambivalent about this (if it's even on the table). Assuming that all the basics are there, good writing and ambience are what make or break an RPG for me. And, let's see... how to put this nicely... Stardock's games, while traditionally good, tend to be a bit jokey and cartoonish for my tastes. I'd much prefer a tactical squad-based strategy game. I think that a decent, updated X-Com type game would be a runaway success.

For example, I would literally give one of my kidneys for an XCom remake. It wouldn't have to have cutting edge graphics. Actually, I would prefer that it didn't. It would just have to have the same features as the originals... and any innovation would only be bonus.

Yeah, it's been my experience that middle market games tend to have more depth but poorer graphics. Which is just fine with me. I certainly don't buy all of them, or even most of them, but I always have my eyes open for a good one.
