While I was thinking about the combat text popping up (as mentioned earlier).. I was thinking how nice it would be to have a "bone crunching sound" for when a character scores a critical hit. It would add that extra oomph! to successful critical hits. :D
Ignore my previous comments about lack of Materials. I just had 'bad luck' at the goodie huts. In my third game (game 2 got stuck by the level 3 thing again), I found 10 materials, then 5 materials, and another 5 materials in three nearby goodie huts. That being said, it might not be a bad idea to start the Sovereign out with 3 materials, so you can build a peasant escort immediately, or use it for buildings. I'd say no
Sounds a lot like my old job, I worked at an engineering firm and reading this gave me a deja vu type of feeling. Thanks for the write-up, it was a good read! :D
I'm liking the additional challenge which the 'groupie' monsters are posing.
I agree with this. I started the game on normal difficulty, and a dozen or so turns later I noticed this huge horde of monsters hanging out around the forests - a stone's throw from my capital. I'm liking how the dev's handled this. I did experience a crash, but I didn't track it since I was playing late last night and needed to go to bed. It *
How about dragon mounts? :)

If someone already mentioned this stuff, sorry, I watched the videos and took notes on my thoughts, but now I have to run errands STAT! But, I'm really liking the direction this is going! AI Test Part 2 - I'm not sure if it's a good idea to let us know exactly what the enemy has for items. Perhaps it can be based on some sort of espionage statistic that lets us know *some* of their items and stats. If we don't know some of them, it shows up as "????" in
Looking good Derek, I can't wait to try this out!
Yes, and guardians/bosses are probably less important than abilities, tactical combat overhaul, more attractive spells, and more varied and flavorful gear and units. How, and less boring terrain. I'd also like dungeons, but I know that, just like guardians, they rank low in the priority list.
I never said this had to be worked on right now, it's just an idea I had that they could do later, perhaps for an expansion.
I've always wanted to see 'epic' types of bad guys, you know, the bad guys that are so damned powerful that they can wipe your whole technologically advanced army out in a single shot? I'm not talking about epic factions, but rather.. - Epic bosses that protect places such as the Lost Library, and other ancient ruins. - Epic bosses that roam the land once triggered, and they ravage the country side. - Epic bosses that roam the land which are randomly generated, a
I would like to see legendary monsters or groups of bandits, or whatever, defending locations. I do agree it's a bit "too easy" to take control of stuff like that. You want that Lost Library? Ok, defeat the evil archmage that currently lives there. Do you want that ruined caravan? Ok, maybe you have to deal with a group of bandits that raided it. Do you want that old keep that contains that horde of treasure? Ok, defeat the red dragon.
I also think the "Shoals of Fish" is a good one for them to consider. Perhaps you just need a single dock around that area, and only one dock may have one shoal, so if you have 2 shoals, you need 2 docks.
You don't think that the game has resources sufficiently strewn about at this point?
I think the resources are ok from what I can tell, at least in terms of being spread over the whole map. I'd like a few more 1 per map 'rare' resources that make them very wanted and unique, I think that would add a bit more flavor to the map.
I'm not crazy about Tiberonmagnus' idea of starting in a random spot. Random as in potentially nothing in the immediate area? I spend enough time in the beginning trying to keep my empire in the black and expanding. I assume I will not have the best starting position resource but i like have a little something to build on. I do expect to explore extensively to find that kick chunk of real estate. Whether or not I can just claim it or take makes th
I would honestly prefer it that our sovereigns start in a random location on the map, and that the resources are also randomly spread out all over the map. I think that a part of the gameplay should be going out and looking for that prime real estate, but instead we're basically given it at the start. Why move around at the beginning? Just click found city and you're already good to go. So in short, all of the resources, shards, goodies, and baddies should be randomly positioned on the map. P
Also, stop dumbing the game down. Every starting position gets gold and food and one other resource. Why? Make all that stuff completely random. What happened to the random monsters and bandits? They have practically disappeared. Make bandits more likely to attack small outposts, but stay away from big cities. Make random monsters more prevalent outside of the ZOC. Don't eleminate them from ZO
I did the same thing when I first started the game also (during initial release a while back). I almost think they should provide both the 'click on tile' AND 'click in menu' options for this. If it's the 'click in menu' option, you don't get a option to place it, it just automatically does it.
Not sure if this was intended or not, but each time my sovereign goes into a city, the walls automatically change to stone walls. Then when my sovereign leaves the city, they downgrade back to normal. Is it supposed to work like that? I don't remember that happening before.
I played about 50 turns or so on a medium sized map, tried a bunch of different options. I can say that the game is definitely going in the right direction, I liked the changes. I also like how the spells are working now, they are much more valuable because you need to do a bit of work to get the good ones. On another note, I took a NPC settlement earlier in the game thinking that I could do it with only my sovereign, a champion, and a bear. I did it, but I didn't expect within 2-3 tu
I can't wait to try it out! I appreciate all the effort behind it!
This is the best video of MOM I've seen yet! I've never played it before, but Brad makes it look really good. :)
This is really looking good! I appreciate all of Stardock's hard work! :)
*Thumbs up!* Sounds like these are turning out quite well! :)
I'm liking the game, it's different from all the other games out on the market right now, feels refreshing. :D
I can't wait to check out the new AI! :D
