started a new game with 1.191a on a 25 start large map played game for 371 turns, had had two hih power rating factions declare war on me was attacing paradin (the first to declare war, the second was accros a sea, so no real threat, started tac battle at paridens nearest city when a application error attempt to acess 0x 1b from elemental happened <a title="1.19a app error crash" href="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8023186/elemental%20crashes/Elemental1_19a-2011-02-08T17-05-54-531.zip

I third it, as the cartographers has NEVER allowed exit and re-enter of cartographers without exiting elemental and re-loading elemental, and even posted this back in beta 4. harpo

is your windows 2000,xp, vista or 7,(btw win 2000, xp and is it 32 bit or 64 bit,(xp 64bit is no longer supported by M$$$$$, and was NOT supported by stardock) and what video card do you have, but also consider adding MOOORE RAM as 700mb is tiny now and elemental needs atleast 1gb preferably 2gb, and the windows will want another 512(win2k,xp)-2gb(vista) on top. harpo

my drop of water would be a bias toward LUA, but my smart suggestion would be BOTH, so that modders can work in which ever they are most comfortable in as long as it does NOT cause slowdowns, graphics glitches or memory leaks. harpo

frogboy, I admit that I havve made a couple of negative postsback in july/august , but back then my aim was to try to improve things a much as I could,,and since then I have only posted actual crash level issues such as my collection of OOMs, and a single question regarding the nolonger appearing population size based quests, and make suggestions that might help to work around any issues that are present and irritating to me as a limited time gamer and programmer. harpo

[quote who="Gwenio1" reply="42" id="2880436"] Quoting Tydorius, reply 19So in turn based games, it's not nearly as important, but anything done in real time, I'd say it's extremely important if you're wanting anything realalistic. Though since Elemental is in 3D, I have to ask: Would it be possible to create chunks of land that float so that the map is layered? I've yet to see a game that does something like that. Floating citadels, flying units. Or underworld cities

I am only a medium/long term programmer, as I started learning programming back in 1978 on a WANG computer that had f o u r K I L O B Y T E S of core memory and loaded cassette tapes at 500baud, and ironically the wang used the SAME tape codes/format as the TRS-80 that I bought later. and some of the programmes/utilities that I have written over the years include several simple games(that I found fairly boring so stopped writing games) a wordporcessor , a mailing list mana

I also have noticed the hp on the infocard, but I also found a CRUDE kludge of a workaround, just move the cursor off the square of the unit and then back to the unit and the infocard will get the updated value. and I also have seen the issues that das123 mentions. harpo

derek, as a long term utilities/applications programmer, I have found that the core is more like 10-20% with debug/polish 80-90% of time & labour, but very careful design of the project can reduce the debug/polish by 20-30%, but then the design could add 10-20% of the total time/resources, so in my opinion an ideally specced project would be design 10-20%, core 10-20%, debug/polish 50-80%, and yes the total range IS 70% to 120% of the total project time and a sensible project manage

I also have the slowdown on the computer with the graphics glitch, but I had made the assumption of debug code regarding the speed, and I have a bit more detailed anecdotal evidence in 1.11 the sov selection window to faction selection window took approx 1/4 second to load and in 1.19 it can take 10 seconds, and this is on a intel e4500 oc to 3ghz w 4gb 1066 ddr2 ram running at 1ghz for BOTH tests. harpo

perhaps it is the geforce 7 series that has the issue as a 7300 is a low end card, the 7600gs was a low-mid gaming card four years ago, and at present I have not tested on either the 8600gt or 8800gt cards that I have, but on the ati4850 & 5850 no graphical problems. harpo

I can confirm blackmantles report ie 1.11 DOES NOT have the issues, re-updating to beta to see if the issues are still there or have vanished(hopefully). btw the geforce 7600gs is a 256mb video card harpo
