I hope they at least input differetn type of magical defence and vulnerabilities. Heck, an old game like Age of Wonders had it. Right now, when I cast a damage spell, I just randomly pick one. Who cares what "color" or "animation" it is, it still does about the same damage and effects. I'd love to see a troll that takes double damage from fire, and a rock-spider that takes half damage from earth spells. That would add some stratagey, be much more "in theme" with

Yes, when I attacked trolls, I did not care if I used fireball or lightning. Yawn, who cares. But, for one example, trolls should be vulnerable to fire, and perhaps evern regenerate physical damame. Now THAT would add variety and strategy to a battle. As for now, who cares . . . .
[quote who="CustodianV131" reply="1" id="2049689"]My biggest hope is that it will do for the turn-based fantasy genre what Civilization 4 did for the turn-based global strategy genre. Revitalize it. Civ 4 was great on its own (also due the great expansion packs) but most of that came from the modability. That keeps people interested and the game fresh. My biggest fear is that is will have a bad launch and crumble before even Stardock can rush in with patches and fix things. Element
I agree with the reveiw totally. I've played it for days, but I should not have to try to figure out what simple mechanics, rules, and UI via constant research. I've told all my gaming friends that I recomend they do not buy it, and that if it ever does happen to be patched up to a fun, playable game, I will tell them to buy it. But as for now, I feel like I've purchased a car with just wheels and a frame; a difficult steering wheel and stick shift to figure and, and have be
As stated above, some food gives you health when you eat it. There is also a healing potions you can buy. But moving every turn (never staying in one place for a turn or more) ususall does nothing but "heal" your mana.
Yes, auto resolve "seems" to not take movement or range into account. That's why I rarely use it, That's why my threshold is set to 0.[e digicons][/e]
Thank you Phaz. Guess I'll bounce back and fourth between build/info screens untill this is fixed or at least improved somehow[e digicons][/e] Having to choose what building to build in a city without your city info available it soooooo "Betaish".
When I go to build/purchase a building in my cities, when the possible buildings I can build pop up, all the info on the citiy itself disapears, so I can't look through the buildings and then check out my city stats to see what the best purchase would be. Am I missing something? Is there another way to see city info while the building menu is up?
All 4 of my friends did reconsider, and did not buy the game (because of the MP), so Brads advice was heeded by them. There is no Lan support Klaus. I wish there was. You must have one copy per person, and a connection to the net to play MP. It is said Lan "may" be available in the future. That would be extrememly nice.
If Tactical battles are back in, for sure (and I don't mean maybe, in 6-8 months, of beta testing), then I myself agree, this thread should be locked. I/we would be extremely happy, and would never want to spread "false rumors". In fact, I would actually be glad to start a "Yay, Tactical battles are in" thread myself too [e digicons]:)[/e]
Listen, we were really disapointed when there was no Lan support. Ok, we got over it. Then we find out we have to buy a copy for each and every person ($250 [e digicons]8C[/e] ), yikes, but sure, ok, it will be well worth it IF it provides a great MP experience . No MP on release (when it's on the box and been sung about for months of how it's up to 16 p
It may be true, tactical battles may be making their way into Elemental in the future. IMO, it should have been in from Day 0 like any other game of it's type in the past decade+. So many screenshots and videos and nowhere does it say "not available in MP". Does it say wanywhere on the box about it not being inlcuded? How about a discalamer "not actual MP screenshots"? And I'm sorry, but after the Demigod fiasco of MP, there'
Well, a friend and I had several days of co-op games planned when we got this game tommorow. I just informed him there is no tactical in MP. He was in as much shock as I. In fact, he actually thought I was kidding, and it took me a minute to convince him I was totally serious. Luckily, I told him before he purchased his game, or he would have been furious. I can promise you, there are going to be a LOT of people out there, purchasin
Let's see: you just have to do what games like Age of Wonders have been doing since the dawn of MP: You can watch the battle or not watch it. Easy. If you don't watch it, you can still fiddle around with all your own units/towns/econimics while the battle takes place. I feel like I'm buying a used car, and the salesman is trying to convince us how we would really not have fun with passenger seats anyway. . .
Again, if true, this is a deal-breaker for us. We went through all that "in a future patch" stuff with Demigod. Tactcial battles ARE the reason for this entire game. Why would we all spend all that time making towns; to make resourses/gold; to make units; to make huge armies only to click in a "roll a die, you lose/win" button like they use to do 2 decades ago in MP games? I'm just going to have to see for myself. I just can't beleive they'd release t
I do not have the game yet. I've had it preordered for a long time. But some things I've skimmed over on these forums seem to indicate that there are no tactical battles in MP. That's not true, is it? That can't possibly be true??? It was just some troll trying to upset everyone, correct? I did not want to write more till I actually get the game and see for myself.
I thought it would change all my posts to show an avitar, but seems it only changes new posts.
Hey! It worked for me too. Nothing else did. Thanks! [e digicons]:D[/e]
I'm waiting till a couple days of play after release before I say more. If my friend and I have a fun co-op experience, that's almost all we wanted. . .
Anybody find a fix for this yet by chance?
Thank you for the offer Dragoaskani, we would be glad to have up to our cabin to make the game play on our Lan [e digicons];)[/e] Seriously, we do not mind having to buy a copy for each person, no problem there. On release day, I and one other friend are getting together to play here at my place (I'm not EVEN going to say "to play via Lan" from now on), but my other 3 friends see no reason to get the game if they can't actually play it at their cabin with friends; solo play
Well, after reading that post Frogboy started (you can't miss it, it's 15 pages long already), looks like Lan play is "not quite" possible right now. Each person has to purchase their own copy, and, you have to be connected to the internet to play. But my friends are going "but that's not Lan play!?!?". Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's about the same as SC2 multiplayer (at the moument), you'll all be playing each other via the internet, but you can still be in the same
Wizard, Impulse is not like Steam ect. It's actually quite "unintrusive". And there will be a lot of constant patches/updates for Elemental at first, so you may not want to intall; uninstall; install; uninstall, over and over (at first).
I have no doubt there will be an "Unlimited" setting.
I preordered via a retail store, so I'm guessing that means the same day as the people who did not preorder, of course. I mean, they did not send the preorders out one day sooner, correct [e digicons]:maybe:[/e] Even if so, with my internet speed, it would take me to Wedensday to download it if I had ordered via Impulse. . .
