I have a copy of Windowblinds 6.3 enchanced on my Vista system. I had a problem in Vista, and I used a freeware program to do a system fix, hoping it would speed up my system which was really slower than it should have been. But I think by doing that I somehow corrupted windowblinds, which stopped working after I did that. I can't even remember the software used or exactly what it did. My memory could be faulty. <s

Hankers, that wiki is not clear, and it doesn't help or answer my questions. I am running Vista home on a toshiba satellite 2.0 centrino with 3 gigs of ram.
Do I do the same for the zip file that has no folder inside, but some files? Also, how do I now change the theme? Also, now the only theme I have is the default. Why aren't the themes in there that were part of the dockzip files unless they are in the backgrounds folder? They do not seem to be in there either. I wish configuration wasn't this tricky or tiresome. Thanks for any help that can be provided.
What am I supposed to do with 2 dockzip files? There should be a better tutorial than the stardock wiki one. I have an issue as well. I have dockzip files that Windows Vista doesn't know what to do with or won't open. Since windows doesn't know what to do with the dockzip files, if I understand you correctly, I should just copy and paste those dockzip files into the backgrounds folder? I also have a mac osx zip file that does not have a folder inside, but just a few files. I suppose I could copy and paste that as well. If I understand correctly, the dockzip file is a self extracting, kinda like a .exe, but I could be wrong. When I clicked or double clicked on the dockzip file on windows vista, vista tells me that it cannot open the file.
I recently downloaded 2 backgrounds or themes, but they are dockzip files. I am not sure how to install these. Also I have a zipped theme or background but when I click on it, instead of seeing a folder, I see a bunch of files. If it was a folder inside the zip, I would know what to do. I'm a little indecisive............I would like to simulate the mac dock, but I don't know whether to use objectdock or rocketdock? I am looking for opinions, suggestions.............a nice dock would go great with my windowblind skins. Thanks!!

I disabled UAC in windows vista, then I deleted that leftover folder from the public free version that was in program files, that did not go away when I uninstalled the previous windowblinds. Then the folder I could not delete before, I trashed it. Then I used cc cleaner to clean things up. When I got the reboot screen, I rebooted, fearing that after that, I would keep getting a reboot balloon, like before, but no....now windowblinds is working just dandy, and I am so relieved.
Actually, with additional tinkering, I now have everything working the way that I wanted to. Windowblinds is NOW WORKING PROPERLY. FINALLY. I am not using the Royale theme, (xp media center pc theme). And now it's time to change the subject. Now, I have another issue that I would like to deal with. Simple. If you have to choose, would you use rocket dock or object bar to simulate the dock on the mac os 10.4 or 10.5? Thanks for all your suggestions, correcti
Wait, I found a way to use impulse after all, but after installing, windowblinds is asking for a reboot because of antispyware stuff. But Why? I have already disabled windows defender (anti spyware) and windows firewall. In addition to that, I have already disabled Norton 360's anti virus, anti spyware and firewall program. This doesn't make sense to me...
Wait, the first screen for windowblinds was a purchase screen, I skipped that, and found a different one that allows a download. While impulse was doing its work, I worried, is this going to be the public free version again?????? but then it activated.............go figure.....not sure if I am right that I am ok.........but now it's asking for a reboot, and I do not understand. Impulse may be THE installer, but I will not pay for this program a second time by credit card. I already paid for this program by MAIL and a MONEY ORDER, and I do not have a credit card to use, so I cannot use IMPULSE. Any other bright ideas?
I don't think I can use impulse. I already bought windowblinds by mail with a money order and it appears that impulse requires a credit card purchase of windowblinds before I can download and reinstall with impulse instead. Perhaps I should just forget this stupid program. No program is worth this much hassle. except an operating system, LOL.
Why do I have to use IMPULSE? That shouldn't be necessary. And on top of that, I already stated that I had disabled windows defender, and windows firewall.
