I have a question. Don't you have a life outside of this game? It's Saturday night, and you posted this at almost 11:30 PM your time. Get the team together and go partying or something. It's not like any of the fans are going to form and angry mob and raid your house if you're not working 24/7 until August 24.... oh wait, yeah, they might do that Still, you deserve a break to at least sleep. One thing that we have yet to see is the animations in tactical battles. To me the animaitons are the most important part of immersion, though many people here seem to be immersed by the strategic maps style. What really engages me in a battle is being able to find new and sadistic ways of watching the little ants down there die. I imagine expolsions, electricutions, vaporizations, and of course flattening by giant stone. The strategic map to me is just great because it presents the everyday
The animation seems a little void. Everything is animated and is in beautiful motion by itself, however it feels like there is no weather. I have yet to see a smoke that goes in a perfect 90 degree line, it just sits a little...artificial. I want to make a circumstancial quest where a high level hero dying can trigger a sort of matyr reaction in local populations. 100 turns later the matyrdom turns to a religion and creates certain benefits to each leader should they embrace the growing faith. At any late points crusades or possibly reformations and inqusitions would occur randomly throughout the game. Is this ringing any bells? [e digicons]:-"[/e]
Given that it's unlikely (ok -- impossible) they'll release Elemental unless the balance is 'good enough' (I say 'good enough' as balance is relative not absolute and it'll never be 'perfect'), that they're talking about a late August release tells me their internal playtesting is showing decent balance currently, and that they're fairly content with the current content (features/systems/etc.). Beta 2 will show us much (but not all)

If its going to be Feb, that just makes the game that much better. Time is not my primary concern as long as I get into the beta.

I find your comments ill conceived and numbly rash. Let's give it a week or two before we say anything about gameplay or what it is geared for. You haven't even seen the campaign.

What is everyone's obsession with flying units? I don't want ships, infantry, horsemen, men-horses, angels, devils, wizards, ogres, trolls, golems, or Sovs to fly. Dragons and birds I can live with. Wouldn't flying be something more suited for the massive expansions we have to look forward to? For that matter they could add burrowing units and a lower and higher field to the map. Just imagine hovering cities overhead and underground lairs full of gooey nasty creatures. These things se
Quoting seanw3, reply 112 I find the textures enjoyable. #70 looks good but maybe it shines better in animation as opposed to a still frame. Personally, I see a huge difference in the editor movies we just got and this picture. I will still hold my judgement on good or bad graphics until release and even then I really just don't put that much into graphics. That picture was from the e

If Frog say August, I believe in August. Most of the game is done, given what I have heard about beta 1, and I'm guessing that any changes to gameplay will be very easy to implement with the way they have been creating this game. Be Hopeful.

I think you'll find we don't give a ROUS's ass about graphics. I have been burned too many times by games with great graphics and nothing else. We must forego the aesthetic and focus on all else.
Looks great so far! But you know, something about the map doesn't strike me right. I mean, the world was quite scholarly before the Apocalypse, so why not represent the unexplored part of the map as a portrait of what the world looked like before the apocalypse? For instance, what was once known as verdent farmland would become, as you explore it, spoilands and blighted expanses. An impassable mountain range might be what was once known on th

Magic source and magic effect are not as clear cut as a mana for each type. Dark magic in this game will likely allow some form of necromancy but it will have to use the the four elements as well. Also at least one of the spell books will deal with the animation of corpses if not other forms of necromancy. Don't forget that these guys are pros. They wouldn't leave out such a huge part of magic.

I can't wait to get my hands on that tile editor. I want to make so many interesting tiles and buildings that replicate appanage and feudal systems in Europe. As far as the roving tornado things go I'd rather have them as "creatures" and allow wizards to tame tem and use them in battle.

If Me, Tasunke, Larienna, Raven X, Wintersong, and other peoples here in the forums got into a 10 person match I think it'd be a lot less about war and a lot more about playing into a role and enjoying the adventures of the game. Of course there would be the inevitable intrigues and betrayals that would lead to inter-ethnic wars and outright genocide but that is all part of life. It really depends on the type of people you are playing with. I for instance want to do at least a few games

Also, if we have learned anything from Chechnya it is that borders are sometimes more like fields of contention. If we go to war with a neighboring country it would be really cool to have those borders dissolve to be mostly combination of military control and indigenous population... If you have time.
