That is a good idea but a lot of people want to be able to roam for a while before choosing a place for a city. If I only want one or two cities, being limited to a small area could ruin my game. It is not lost on me, however, that getting a randomly generated map with no resources would also ruin my game. What I suggest is a measure of certainty that each start is viable without creating a cookie cutter starting scenario. I wonder what the devs think. I would need to play bef

I will start a tree roots campaign (because a grass roots campaign can only go so high) to have at least one of the expansions give us floating cities, flying and tunneling abilities, and maybe even underground cities for mountains. There will be an official post when the game is released.

It has just occured to me that a heavy civics focus would lend to a very defensible empire. Massive spires with even a few bowmen could forseeably stop any invading army, aside from a very siege orientated war focus. I am excited to see how things work out balance wise.

I tend to take a Stalinist aproach to the making of this game. Absolute trust in Wardell is necessary for the full realization of his five year plan. If he gives us a video about 2mp and coastal building, that is what we should focus on. We should trust that there will be videos later about backstory and character depth. Someone had asked how new players will be taught about the coastal placement problem. This is most likely a temporary problem that will be fixed or there will be some great w

Heroes are just not going to be that powerful. It has been said by Frogboy that they are meant to be interesting and better than most units, but not the main unit in the game. Allowing them to be like MoM would make Sovereigns useless. I think a fighter class Sov is the powerhouse that you might be interested in. As a future Empire player I think my wraith cavalry will be much stronger than most of your piddely Kingdom heroes. [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e]

I hate people who load and saves to avoid mistakes. This is the reason our society is in shambles! Learn to live with your mistakes here or you will not be able to cope with the ones you make in real life or in multiplayer . <span style="font-family: book antiqua,p

I made the decision when I bought Gal Civ 2 that pirating was stupid. All I want to do was buy democratically designed games like Stardock's. Buying power matters and I don't even want to play games that are not like this. For example I seriously doubt I will buy any more RTS or FPS unless they are extremely good (like Civ 5 or Disciples 3 might be). The reality is I have little time to play games anymore (some called me Mr the other day even) and I don't feel connected to
One thing I have wondered (and maybe it's possible now) but is there or will there be an "undo" button? I saw Froggy make a mistake and his guy stepped back on a tile he didn't intend for. Is there a way to correct that or is that just a wasted step? I'd hate to accidentally move in one direction then have to waste a turn to correct it. Then again, perhaps there is a way to do that already and I have missed it. I hav

What is the mistake, just so we are clear? You should realize that english grammar is no longer taught in most shools. Run on sentences and improper punctuation abound in daily speech and have slowly crept into our prose. Even I, a linguistic intellectual, find myself stricken with amiguities in what I was never taught by the ones being underpaid to teach me. Could you enlighten us? If I had to guess, it would be the dash between so and called, or a comma after the noun demon.

You know I hadn't even thought about the purpsoe of cliffs and such in gameplay. This opens up a whole new sequence of magical strategies. For one, we could simply subvert a well defended landing zone by altering an unsuspecting player's cliff into a prime landing zone. Really adds so much to the invasion and defense options I must consider before attacking. I also want nay need to have at least one samurai island game and maybe even a little chinese-japanese simulation. The nice thing is we

I would hope that each starting position is random but not crippling to any player. What I mean is that while it is nice for every bloak to get a fire mana, earth mana, iron mine, and farm patch to make sure everything is equal, it would make this game irreversibly boring. The randomness needs to be like Texas Hold'em, if you will forgive the reference. Each player gets resources of a relatively equal amount but their composition is random, leaving a limited number of strategies

You should be able to get money from underdeveloped cities. It wont be as much, but it would be enough for the goals of a differently focussed tree. The true question we need to ask the frog and maybe the gorilla is: Are there alternate ways to gain money and production and if so are they designed as supplements to a moderately refined civilization tree, or are they viable as a sole means of advancement? As to magic focusing, I would think one would need quite a monopoly
The one tech tree that doesn't really have a "win" condition associated with it is Civilization. This actually makes a lot of sense to me, since Civilization really makes the other trees more effective. You'd be hard pressed to conquer the world without at least, say, a "farming" tech. That said, I'm not fond of the idea of making a empire that focuses exclusively on one tech tree competitive with empires that do not. Even if you cho

Adventuring as I understood the description would give a great number of bonuses to the other areas of play. The riches and lore found by adventuring could give you unique breakthroughs in any of the technology trees. It sure would be cool to have a Kingdom full of magically and technologically random advancements that build a unique way of living in the elemental world. For that matter, I would feel personally gratefull if the Empire's magic tree allowed me to create undead farmers t

I'll play devil's advocate and say I'm going the Civ route. Even if I had no breakthroughs in warfare, I would still gain weapons from exploration. And most of my population could be used in a mob to overwhelm a better equipped army. I would still have basic magic and basic diplomacy, relying on exportation of my vast resources at low cost to other players that don't have my civilization's knack for accumulation. I could probably even trade with the Diplomacy players for weapons. I could get
