He has been battling baddies for hundreds of years. I think after awhile you just get a fell for how they will react. Also, I think the doctor may be using flesh in the first episode.

Okay the Starbuck thing was a little ridiculous. There was a moment at the end of every episode where they stopped the real story and played their special what will happen to Starbuck music. Then they spewed out some random hokey just to what convince everyone that they should watch the next episode. It got a little annoying. I have been watching for 3 years and you think I need some Lost hook at the end to remind me to watch next week? Then at the end of it all they si
I like my dungeon. Its cool and dry and there are very few spiders. I like sitting in a chair and forgetting for just a moment that I am constricted by space and time, flesh and bone, gravity. I really hate gravity;l its just so pretentious. The home computer may leave for awhile, but its one of those conventions that will likely reemerge a few times. Virtual reality is my personal heaven, that will certainly require some type of tube shaped PC. I say let the machines run the world
Doubt that Froggy is still reading this thread, but I think the game has a soul. It just came in the form of a book. I read the book and it was actually good. It provides so much lore and depth. I remember Froggy telling us that alot of this game is something he has been imagining for awhile. Now, mind you very little of that lore made it into the game, but I know how difficult it can be to try and make something contain such an epic story when the core game is going to hell in a handbasket.
The budget didn't allow for more battles. I thought the drama was rather immersive. I have to say that the latest BSG probably beat out the last 3 star wars movies as far as space battles go. Of course to compare you would need to compile every BSG battle separate from its 42min drama precursor.
Good to hear from you boogie. How is that midwest zombi invasion going? That is the current theory on the lack of dev journals. Will it be possible to have magic effects use specific or unique animations on hit? It would be nice to entangle an enemy in actual vines. How exactly does animations fit into the development process?
Beta waiting is like waiting for painters to paint something. I just want to watch it dry dammit!
That is good news about terrain. Thanks for this unofficial tidbit on FE. Maybe if we knew more about the new design concepts, we could offer more useful ideas. Also, a little journal about modding capabilities would go a long way towards soothing my unease about spells. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
The game is open to modding on a level that is only paralleled by Civilization 5. That has nothing to do with the quality of the core game. The modding community was able to take a poorly executed core game and add the things they wanted in the game that weren't there. There was no reliance on them to make the game better. FE is what Stardock is relying on to fix the game. They added a dedicated staff of video game developers that work full time on Elemental. FE is taking Elemental into a
Okay I guess AoW is pretty much the ideal competency for AI. The end game of Elemental should be adaptive AI. I would really like to be able to mod in new logic and tactics for it as the game ages. This is the only game I have played where that might be a possibility. Hell, froggy might just be persuaded to continue updating it for a few years after we figure out how to beat it.
Its just so depressing have to wait around for news on FE. No good games are coming out for a few weeks, which means posting here is all I really have to do. Sure I could spend my time at work working or even go outside with friends, but I have never really been a fan of either of those. So the real problem is that we just don't know enough about FE. Still, things might be extremely fluid at this point on the development process, causing them to not want to post about game f
Hey I know some of you like to keep bees. I was thinking about starting and then I though about how killer bees attack a victim. Do they use any special pheromones to do that? Is it something I can make into an aerosol spray? I want to have honey... and fear and respect form the others in my village.
If I were frogboy I would have cut my losses. He must be some kind of guy to take it this far.
FE is where most AI work will be focused. We had a long thread about how much more we cared about FE than WoM. WoM is kind of a first attempt that didn't quite meet its potential. FE is the younger, better looking sibling.
Don't lie Tridus. AoW sieges were good, but the AI couldn't use walls correctly. They come out and are easily tricked. I remember I was halfway done building my Trojanic Horse when they just came out to fight me. AoW is one of the greats, but it has very different core rules to work with. And the AI for this game has much more complexity potential. That is kind of Frog's selling point as a person. That and the Bees.
I like both multi and single, but for different things: Length of a game, stability, difficulty, use of cooperation, fun, and the other players all determine this for me. ex: Sins can be short enough and is fun even you are losing. Most players don't ragequit. Its stable and Comp stomp is a viable option. Perfect multiplayer. ex: Civ5 crashes all the time, super long, so sad if you are losing because it has exponential effects. All player
If you still own a copy of C&C3, there is a red alert 2 mod that is 80% finished.
We will probably get better Tactical Maps. Right now we have very few. Remember too that FE will get more updates than WoM did. If the core game is nailed down from launch, we can expect to see additions to content. Adding things from the ideas section is probably something the devs want to do, but first they have to make sure the basics are solid. I know that the mods for WoM pretty much owned the vanilla version. Wonder if there is some way to have modder contributions added t
The new combat system will likely allow for tactical positioning. That is a good assumption given the depth of this redo of WoM. The combat values I have seen in the dev journals also seem to indicate a shift to meaningful tactics, just not LOS. That was my major point. As to Terrain, I would really think that meaningful terrain is going to be added. Bonuses for placement are already in the game, just not useful or relevant as they only ever game me a 10% defense bonus.
Actually sight doesn't make much sense in the first place. The eye is so complex that it is basically the only magic I know of in the universe besides steroids and cheese. Since we are talking about time and realism, I want to point out distance in Elemental. How much area does a single tile cover? How does a city use up the distance it takes half a season to travel on foot? Somewhere in the forums I have explained this, but I lost the link. Anyone find this s
I haven't noticed that issue. Go ahead and upload a before and after save. 1.4 will be starting soon and any tech bugs are top priority I think.
All these things seem to be hard to get the AI to do. If we could absolutely know that the AI is not going to be able to use most of these features for a few months after launch, would you still want them? Keep in mind that multiplayer will not have tac battles. [e digicons]:hugme:[/e]
I see it as WoM being a hobby of a few friends. FE is a full fledged game development process. That will be the difference. Beta coming soon!
1.4 is going to fix all the issues from 1.3. It will however bring back a few from 1.1. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
I think that Obama is just saving up his mana so that he can cast the 5th level teleport spell on election day. What is the name of that spell again? ACORN? Anyways a new dev diary about map generation or city building might at least curb the stock market's downward spiral. Your country needs you Stardock!
