Well you are certainly right about Magic Victories being redundant to Conquest. I just can't think of any way that a small nation can beat a large one without a fundamental change of gameplay. Maybe the spell of making should require a wizard to be master of every element, create a special level 5 building, save up a large amount of mana, and gain some artifact or sacrifice to complete the spell.

Re: Autoscouting Great idea, but maybe just make it a spell that you can cast. It would have different levels or be intelligence/3. That would be a major plus for magic users and the AI.
Ha! Probably. [e digicons]:w00t:[/e]
In 20 years when we all have massive computers this game will still be playable. There is no limit to map size and no limit to number of factions. Just think of how large the game could get.
Good. If there is one modder I don't want to compete with in questing it's you HF. [e digicons]^_^[/e] My quests play out like stories. There will be about 30 total quests. 20 you will always get, 5 you will most likely see eventually, 3 you will see after a few games, 2 you will see after years of playing. They made the chance to get a random event able to be very very unlikely. That is the key to replayability. I think that if the stories are compelling
You don't know son, so I'll tell you this once: If there is no limit to factions I will create 100 of them over two weeks of sick days and vacation time I have saved up. You will see everything from a fully functional Brotherhood of Nod to the Dunmer from Morrowind. Each faction will have the proper technologies, backstories, leaders, abilities, strategies, and personalities. I am just that crazy. [e digicons]:cylon:[/e]
In my opinion, information is the smallest divisible unit of all resources and technology. You want to put all those atoms on signals and stream them from one side of the planet to the other? You are just asking for trouble. But the same was true of satellites and the first computers and the internet. I guess I am just not looking forward to the new additions to my environment. Time to evolve.
Sins of a Solar Empire has a great engine for a really good SF Sim. That said, if you don't know Tropico and you want both games, buy Anno now and get Tropico 3 when it is on steam sale for 5.00 dollars. You can have the best of both worlds.
If you haven't played the Tiberian Sun campaign, you really have a skewed perception on the value of campaigns. I would say it's up there with Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars IV-VI. Wonderful story.
I asked frogboy only about the sandbox mode and his response was that questing would become a major aspect of storytelling. I am admittedly running this dream on fumes, but that is what Elemental is all about.
Oh thank Frog! I was worried there for a sec. It seems like the most exciting part of the game will be seeing what building you get from leveling a city. As it should be, so say we all.
Diplomacy would be paramount.
Does the maximum population increase over time? People get born afterall...
I would like to see NPCs gain value by learning feats, spells and getting perks from quests. With the new NPC system, it should be a matter of creativity more than anything else. This has all the trappings of a group mod.
My biggest agenda is to make sure that the modders are given the capabilities we need to make the game our own. So far we are doing great. The only problems are possibly prestige and a few other things being hardcoded into the game. There is little feedback from the devs about how they are planning to implement the features we have been shown. Quests should really be addressed first I think, since it was one of the least open things in WoM. I am not overly worried though. Frogboy said much of
How does a custom map handle the wild factions? Do I need to custom make each area or will it naturally blank my custom map with these areas?
Oh... can you continue to add past the 8 slots on the setup screen?
What about security? I get the feeling that much of this tech relies on technology that will make information, the only true commodity left in the world, move to a space of duality, owned by a private corporation and open to a host of new ways of interception. I do not like where some of this innovation is headed. Of course I feel the same way about virtual PCs.
Wouldn't it be great if we could have 24 factions in a game? For players like me who crave massive maps, this would really fit well. Is this something too hardcoded to make happen?
On a serious note, how do you plan to tackle different map sizes if there is a limit to total citizens? Are you using an equation that gives a certain number based on map size? Also, will there be AI modability with respect to expansion? I would really like tweaking the AI's strategy to fit my premade maps.
I heard one of the Wildland players is called the Fremen. They are ruled by a giant sandwurm. If you defeat it you can summon it in battle. That's just what a friend told me.
Please tell me you played the C&C Tiberian Sun campaign. Best one I have ever played.
Also, temporary drains. Could be curses you can cure or even losing a point or two until the summoned creature is sent back to Oblivion.
l) Target caster and enemy: Vampiric Touch, Dopplegang, Absorb Strength, etc...
I too would prefer deep battles. Maybe with all the new features we can mod in enough battle content to get somewhere here. At least we will get better AI this time. [e digicons]:P[/e]
