From what I saw in recent videos, there are many many more random techs populating the tree. I encourage this. As I said in a recent post, a combination of faction techs, random techs, and core techs should make up the tree each game. The key is to make the interactions complex from a simple random system.
Quoting Andrew Meronek, reply 6Do militia units which happen to equip stuff which would normall require iron or crystal end up pulling that resource from the resource pool? I would prefer for militia to be a viable defense tactic, not a drain on resources. Arguably if one militia unit dies, the same equipment could be used for the next round of militia. Therefore I think what they are equipped with should be based/limited

Even if you don't want to be a modder, I suggest learning how to make your own difficulty preferences. In ElementalDefs.xml you can change monster spawn rates, how many of them there are and how far away they will be allowed to spawn from your starting position. It only takes a minute to tweak and can make the beta much more fun.

I forget which turn it was, but I remember like 30 spiders spawning in an unused forest in the midgame. I had to make peace and send my best armies back to fight a spider war. It was great fun.

Apparently Frogboy was just using the old D&D meme to get the discussion started. Please do not take it as written in stone. It is obviously made from the perspective of one of the Kingdoms, probably Gilden. They probably would like to see themselves as Lawful Good. Maybe Lawful Greed. [e digicons]:erk:[/e]

This is a valid problem that will most likely be solved. You see, you are not leveling because the AI can not compete during a war. Wars generally are decided at some time on one turn where you meet the AI's stack of doom/pioneers and kill them all, leaving its cities open for conquering. When the AI gets better, so will leveling. You just need to be fighting more battles. Of course the monster spawn rate needs to be increased across the board too. I am playing against some very dangerous

If you have much more than another nation, you get a diplomacy bonus. This area is yet to be fully implemented, but we will see some more interesting stuff when they start working on diplomacy.

Growth needs to be handled more delicately. The optimal solution I have found is a Capital Bonus of +4, Making Tower of Dominion +3, and making Inns and Pubs be replaced with faction specific buildings that do not increase growth. So now Gilden is forced to rely on Prestige and Tower of Dominion for growth. You can have one city get to level 5 in the early game or two cities get there by the midgame. But trying to expand past that means cities that will never grow; mining colonies if you will

I like what Civ 5 tries to do with combat, but do you really find it challenging or at all realistic? Tiles represent miles of land, but archers can shoot with a range of 2? And I like the one unit per tile thing, but units can't walk through the same tile? That is where the system breaks down. I often find a unit waiting 5-6 turns to move through allied territory. That is unacceptable for a finished product. The worst part about battles is that the AI can not only never win, but can not
I am fine with Shane Dead. He should have left ages ago. But I am still having a hard time with the killing of Dale. He was one of my favorite characters and really brought alot of interesting moral aspects into postapocalyptia. I find it interesting that the most stable and least stable characters have been killed off. The execution of dramatic irony was spot on though. Telling the viewer that those crazy raiders are just 5 miles away was thrilling. Too bad we lost two expert riflem

If anyone is interesting in learning about diplomatic capital in real life, check out an entry level book on sociology. Diplomatic Capital works surprisingly like the real thing in this game. It is one of the most unique concepts and shows some real intelligence by the devs. I think Fb thought it up in WoM. Basically you are accumulating owed favors and good will that can then be "spent" when needed. Not spending in certain ways is more valuable because you can hold it over those th

I just played a game with Verga (Dick in Spanish) where he was able to solo most any battle. It was quite spectacular. He found a Tear of Syndrum, which now gives +10hp per kill. Once I got him to level 5, he was quite the badass. So much fun to be able to use one Sov with such power. The Tear certainly makes soloing possible, but not easy. You need alot of health potions, which I need to make more expensive and rare. I didn't realize cityhubs were giving those out. Great fun th

People seem to think that Gilden are the "bankers" of Elemental. In fact, they are the miners and builders. A society based on order. They are also ravaged by greed. They are the True Lawful from my perspective. That level of production and architectural mastery is something only a very ordered society could achieve. And yet, the thirst for ore, not gold specifically, is almost a compulsion for the Ironeers. They have a history of aggressively attacking their neighbors in search for

Use Mods will enable any files in your documents/mygames/FE directory. So you don't need it if you are just using the first download. But if you also download the second one, with the units and Hasta weapon, you will need to click that. I also recommend removing all your old unit files out of the Units folder so that there are no bugs in that respect.

As a Lawful Kingdom, it would make sense that they would have less unrest from taxes. Chaotic nations should hate taxes. That would be an interesting aspect when choosing a faction. Neutrals should be more likely to trade with anyone, while Chaotics and Lawfuls stick to their side of the fence. Perhaps Chaotics are unlikely to trade at all, preferring no roads that invite conquerors.
