Meh, the whole "campaign" is pretty underwhelming. Barely works as a kind of an overture to the game though the ending cinematic did pique my interest and I do enjoy these comic book style vids. If only the narrator wasn't so corny. But sandbox is the main reason why anyone would buy this game so I'm not gonna lose much sleep over this afterthought of an campaign. Who knows, maybe the future "books" will redeem it.
I doubt SD deliberately choose not to polish their games. Things happen as they do for a reason. About the unit groups. It needs to be represented that those groups consist of individuals rather than being a singular Voltron-like construct. If you have a 40hp group consisting of four 10hp soldiers, once the group takes 10 dmg it's attack values also needs to go down by a single soldier amount. The current situation with groups is quite poor for the reasons already stated. Maybe groups could gain bonuses through use of formations and such but we need to feel that the soldiers are
I'd like to get on the bandwagon and also report choppy/laggy performance on the 3D map. As with everyone else, changing video settings has no effect but the cloth map runs smooth so I mostly play from that perspective.
