Agreed here as well. I like seeing only the best of the best on the main wallpaper site. If I see something I like, I can always click on the artist's name to see more by them, including the "not quite good enoughs."

What I meant is those backgrounds that are listed as being "Tabbed." For example, Simple Tabs or Aero Tabs.

Is there anything preventing ODNT and OD+ users from picking and choosing from the various themes' bits? Gotta say, on my system, it all looks great. AlienGUIse's WB and IP themes, the "Invader" media player skin, the mini-Object Dock, plus various OD+ and DesktopX objects combine to look incredible on here, and they all play nicely with each other.

Okay, I installed the "Home and Student" package, since I don't need much more than Word. This is the most surprisingly well-done software package I have ever used, full stop. I've actually uninstalled Office XP already. I ain't rich, but even I can scrape up $150 in the next couple months. That native .pdf converter works better than Acrobat Distiller. It'll work. However, it works best when you tell it to set a restore point. Get into the habit of doing this before any majot install and you'll have a lot fewer problems. It's all PMCS, man.

I use Word XP for (sigh) print layout*. Is Office '07 any better in handling frames/text boxes and art? Does it have native .pdf support or do you still have to run it through Distiller? * - I know, I know. As I told a coder buddy of mine: "it's like using Dreamweaver to make MySpace pages."
I'm not sure about the font - I like the default - but to increase the size of a tabbed dock, open it, then hover your pointer over either side of the dock. The pointer will turn to a "left-right" style, then simply drag to change the size. Note that all tabs will change at the same time, and if you set it too small, the text on the tabs themselves will get cut off. By the way, you can also move the dock itself left and right by opening a tab, clicking and holding in an empty space, and
I suppose you don't have TweakUI installed. That includes several repair functions, for icons and the like. Also, I do find it a bit surprising that for all your concern about AlienGUIse (and thanks for letting me know about it - looks awesome on my end) you didn't take the simple step of setting a system restore point.

Certain Object Desktop trials actually will continue to skin at whatever they were last set at. So if you find one set of icons, for example, that you're just so thrilled with that the very thought of changing fills you with a sick rage, then you set that package through IconPackager and just leave it. IP will run out, but it'll leave the icons alone until you choose to revert to the Windows standard.
A) You were lied to. I've run Windowblinds and ObjectDock on my ancient Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop with no slowdowns. Once the skin is loaded, it uses nearly no extra resources. B) Without a theme manager program of some sort, you're not going to be able to selectively apply the theme.
With no information on your system, it's hard to tell you why. It's working perfectly on my system - well, once I uninstalled my trial for IconPackager (so AlienGUIse could apply its icons, as IP itself had expired).
I'm downloading it now, and will give it a whirl as soon as it comes through. I probably won't keep it, but it's worth trying.
In a home environment, you can easily keep a notebook with passwords, account numbers and log-ins, and the like by the machine. If someone breaks into your house, well, you've got other issues. I never keep potential blackmail bait on here - any "private" photos or the like are placed on a disk and cleared from the hard drive. The idea is not just to make it difficult to get into my machine, it's to make it not worth the energy spent. If someone does get on here, well, they can look at pictures

This may be the height of conceit for a first-time skinner, but...I'm in. Expect something in the ObjectDock category a bit later this week, depending on how many "extra" icons I do (the core are already completed). Oh, and if I remember to double-check the .dockzip this time. Nothing quite like having your very first attempt bounce... :NOTSURE:
Actually...I use about a dozen different passwords on a regular basis, and I do remember them all. I had to learn how to memorize sometimes arcane combinations for a previous job. I do sympathize. Getting hacked really sucks (for lack of a better term), and I'm sorry you went through such an ordeal. I'm also surprised that Flash has so many holes, though I shouldn't be - it tries to do way too much.
