More a question of what is now, rather than what will be: has the "Spider" platform marketing campaign been a success, or has AMD/ATi's focus shifted to selling individual components?

I used the Thoosje sidebar for a while, but it seemed to intrude too much into my other programs. The Desktop Sidebar, by contrast, uses nearly no resources and seems to be more stable. Plus, it offers more gadgets that I'll actually use and, frankly, looks better to me.
Sorry, that did come off a lot more critical than I'd meant it to be. :( As an sometimes-creator who has had material pirated, such news does - frankly - scare me, and to find out that it's another false alarm angered me. I think my own counter-points are valid, but still, there's no excuse for my attitude. My apologies.
I'm really growing to like you guys. :)
http://www.sellyourtvconceptnow.com/orphan/orphan_works_information.mp3 This is, to put it mildly, a hatchet job. Look at the name of the hosting site, for crying out loud. http://maradydd.livejournal.com/374886.html This is the second link you posted, and it contradicts your point. Utterly demolishes it, in fact. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=609199 This is the third link you posted, and it only provides one bit of corroborating eviden
Sorry to hear that, BigDog. It installed perfectly on my system.
Much faster than my last ride.
Indeed, Microsoft Update won't even let you upgrade to SP3 until they get that issue ironed out.
:nods at the incredibly intelligent people that frequent these forums and have posted in this thread: You guys said it better than I did. Look, back when I worked with Steve Jackson Games, I was involved with a very cool project. The author and I did all sorts of exceedingly fun and often physically exhausting activities in order to reality-test what he'd written. We put a lot into that book, because we knew that it's what the customers wanted. Then, by a freakish coin
We talking about for-pay software or global warming now?
Nice guy. Reminds me of some folks I used to have to deal with in the gaming industry. Maybe Jesh could make a F.A.T.A.L. skin and complete the circle of classiness?
Sounds like a really good deal, and well worth $30/yr. I'll get it as soon as I get to Chicago (yay, moving).
But stating that "for pay stuff does not hurt you" is simply wrong. It depends on the case.
Then don't buy it and play or use something else. Again, I have to reiterate my disbelief that you're involved in any sort of modern creative labor. I have several different "office" and graphics programs installed on this machine because different companies require different formats for various projects. Whenever a new version of, say, Microsoft Office or Abode Creative S
I'd rather cut my own hand off than use Yahoo Widgets - or, for that matter, any of Yahoo's software.
Your analogy is flawed. No one is stopping you from TRYING to charge extra for providing additional paragraphs. If people think those extra paragraphs are worth it, they'll buy it. Otherwise, they won't.
If he was really a professional writer, which I doubt, then he'd know that everything but fanfic is done "to specs," just like software. If you're paid to complete a project, you complete it in the time and space alloted. It doesn't matter if it's a novel or a b
Re-stating a flawed analogy does not make it any more valid. (Oh, and "a lot" is two words, Mister Writer-Man.) I find your arguments flawed, based as they are on fanboy moon-logic and some sort of bizarre entitlement, and you should be glad that the CEO and founder of a multi-million dollar business has bothered to respond to them as if they made any kind of sense. (I was so trying to avoid trolling, but come on...)
Wonder how Yahoo shareholders are going to feel when the reality of a $20 stock heading to $15 hits them. I love this "undervalued" talk - you are worth what everyone agrees you're worth, and that's "Undervalued" is such a ludicrous term, especially for stock prices. Physical items can have personal value above and beyond their raw cost of materials, labor, and profit margin, but a stock is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it, no more, no less.
You better hurry back.
damn thats it and how do i put it again there is any trick???
He asks on the company's own forums... Seriously, it's well worth the money.
Well, Frogboy did say that the cost of a subscription could go up to around $30 USD, but if that's matched with more content, such as the unlimited use of skins that most casual users have to pay for on an individual basis, then I'd say that's fine. Brad (may I call you Brad? ;) ) and Stardock seem to be working towards a clearer delination between their different types of customer. This breakdown seems clear and logical: 1) The Casual Customer - Gets MyColors pre-bundled on th
In the last skincast Zoomba said that 25% of teh WC traffic is Vista.
And in the post immediately before yours. ;) I have to agree with Brad here, on pretty much all counts. I, as I've mentioned before, have worked in the adventure gaming industry for a while. When Dungeons & Dragons Third Edition was released and included the D20 license - a way for smaller companies to build off D&D3e without having to pay for a fresh system design - hundreds of start-up compan

I can't post mine. It involves a Sekrit Projekt. ;)
I am so happy I never installed my free Vista upgrade. My XP is so much better. BTW MS is working on its next OS, since Windoes 6 (Vista) has been such a bomb. Read about Windows 7 WWW Link
Cool; can I have your Vista update? ;)
Frogboy's post is not altogther wrong, but his tone, and the gleeful Objectivist tone of most of the commenters, makes me want to take a shower. Or maybe replay Bioshock to see the consequences of unchecked capitalism run wild. There's few events in gaming more satisfying then going upside the head of Bioshock's smug, hypocritical Ayn Rand stand-in, Andrew Ryan (though I wish it was interactive rather than a cut scene).
Mmm. I get all my knowledge of philosophy and econom
