Before we diverge into flame wars - and thanks to all of you who took the time to read and respond intelligently, which is most of you - I'm not proposing communism or socialism. Look up what those terms mean. Socialism economically is when the state is the primary owner of the means of production. Communism is a little more extreme, but the same idea overall. What we have now, BTW, is generally agreed to
Kantok, you missed my point, or choose to ignore it. People DON'T WANT anyone in their pockets but themselves. It's human, it's proven, time and time again. The richest sit on their money, biting every cent in 4. Whenever they can, they WILL rob you, even when poor. They cheat taxes as if it's an Olympic sport. Grow up. Only a

Trickle down is a marketing phrase created by liberals to disparage conservative economic principles without having to actually debate them. Supply side economics is the only thing that does work. Or are you enjoying your amazingly prosperous Keynsian recovery right now? Second: I said nothing about supply sid

Sorry to say, but not only is the vast majority of wealth NOT inherited, the trend is actually moving away from inherited wealth and towards self-made wealth. Facts are slippery little bitches, aren't they? http://blogs.wsj.com/wealth/2008/01/14/the-decline-of-inherited-money/ Or if you prefer, articles from those noted bastions of right-wing thought at the Washington Post.

Buddy and I talked about this for a while last night. Amazing how many college and post college memories are tied to early Winamp. Lots of Winamp controlled music in those days.
Many people lack the imagination to extrapolate our collective behaviour into the future. After all, it is a very abstract problem and many people are having trouble with simpler things like managing their money account. To most people, the problems of "today" are more important than the problems of "tomorrow" and as poverty grows, this will get just worse.
Quite the opposite. Th

So you're taking 1/10th of the global economy, or roughly $7 trillion and giving it to everyone evenly, correct? Leaving aside several of your assumptions that I think are wildly wrong, there are two fundamental problems here that you have to solve before any discussion about the merits of your idea is even worthwhile. First, where is the money coming from? You talk AROUND this a bit with vague notions of taking it from bankers who stole it to begin

In this case you are using "white" as shorthand for one homogenous culture. It really has little to do with race, per see, but more with distinct cultures. It is easier to design, implement and sell large national initiatives when you only have to worry about one major culture, rather than 2 or 3 or 12.
When I have more time, I plan to discuss in some detail the way the Stardock Investment Fund (SIF) functions. It doesn’t just throw money at studios. SIF also provides employee services (health insurance, 401Ks, accounting, legal, and bunches of other “stuff”) and then incorporates the studios into a wider development network that allows each group to share resources. I just can't imagine giving up the digitizer & stylus on the GN8. It makes the tablet way too useful for note taking, brainstorming ideas in a group visually or story-boarding presentations before putting the time into building them, etc. Plus the size makes it perfect for reading and/or surfing comfortably on the couch.

So I was curious. I haven't played in about 6 weeks. Just opened the game to check on my group. Everyone was still mostly-happy and friendly with one another. One of my characters was sick (which I don't remember from before I quit playing). That means I'll have to find a doctor and get him healed pretty quickly. Food stores are low, but not gone. Apparently my team was out gathering gasoline like fiends because I have twice as much as I d
