Now this is an update!
Are most people having performance issues? Everything runs smoothly for me until i get the "out of memory" error, which has been worked around by a player (though not truly corrected).
I don't know about most people, but unless I use a cloth map my frame rate is very low around cities with more than a couple buildings to the tune of sub10fps. But I dunno, maybe a Q9550 C2D and an A
Looks like the "big one" has been narrowed down to something we the players can actually do something about. Nice find Sholland.
Quoting Baleurion, reply 4I just want that elusive "oh wait, jesse just found something, he says he gets 10-20 more fps now when looking at a city" fix released NOW as a hotfix or mini-patch. Then i dont mind if it takes another week before we see another patch, i just want that preformance fix. Well, so long as you want it, then, by all means SD, do it!
I don't think he is <
i've had seven or eight cities make one big influence blob and had no issues. You didn't manage to build two cities into one did you? I don't even know if thats possible (ex: build expansions until one touches the other physically)
Until they get the crash and memory leak bugs and performance issues (IE the MAJOR issues) all ironed out this game will get very poor reviews. I think the underlying game play is good otherwise. I'm sure its not perfectly balanced, but it does give you that 'just one more turn' style yearn to keep playing. Assuming there were no technical problems with the game, i'd say it would be in the realm of 8.5. The technical bugs would probably lower this two or three points. Frequent game cr
Maybe you just got wicked lucky? In my game I only had two starting resources - and one was from the iron mine leader pick. It was pretty easy to find other sites for cities to expand to however, so its not so bad (plus I just rushed two enemy cities while they stomped around with a giant army. Go Go Gadget Double Score.)
same deal since new patch. I needed to start a new game anyway.
After updating to these drivers it seems like all I ever crash from is 'out of sample handles' I don't even get to the point of 1.5gb of memory used by elemental either. zzz So tempted to bust out my old 8800 GTS.
The AI just needs to learn how to use the teleport spell.
Honestly, this could make any AI opponent a beast, assuming he is trucking around with enough firepower. If not, make him teleport into any major city that has some already somewhat powerful defense to pick up some friends and plow through your invading army. Another trick they could let the AI use is summoning up a ton of creatures right before
Any word if this fixes the out of memory issue with ati cards in elemental? bout to try it in any event.
Top right has a turn counter. Sounds like a minor kingdom, they are a little strong at start.
I love that they can be wicked strong starting out, or wicked weak. Determines how you might want to handle them. They've got crappy spider guardians? Yay free town!.... they've got a Dragon!? oh noes, i'll send them a trade caravan :)
If you're having font issues, try rebooting your machine. Sometimes windows does not properly register fonts right away.
Bingo. You're awesome Kryo, restarting fixed everything [e digicons][/e] except the double font issue. I'd never have thought it was just an issue with the fonts not installing until you restart. I can actually read what the stuff in the mod section of the impulse overlay in game now! lol.<
I have asked the same question already. In my case the Arial font causes displacement of written text over the buttons and next to resources.
What resolution are you running at? i'm using 1920x1080 and I don't have issues with text going out of boundaries with the buttons, but I can imagine it may be an issue with smaller resolutions. Maybe the fonts missing means we have a bad install or something considering
I'm still having this problem with the 1.05.016 hotfix'd update and the newest (10.7) catalyst drivers From turn 189 to 190 memory usage jumps over 150 megs. Then from 190 to 191 another 100 megs. Ouch. very few turns memory usage went down. But there were some turns that it did. Mostly just kept going up at around 10-20mb a turn. total turns 178-235 C2D Q9550 @ stock EVGA 780i mobo (original 780i, worst mobo i've ever gotten.) Radeon 58
Well, it looks like this is actually true now.
I noticed a trajan bold font in my Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental\Fonts folder and right click installed it, but it doesn't seem to fix this, but I tried it anyway. Still showing up as failing to load both trajan pro and trajan pro bold in the debug.err file.
I've been thinking i've been having a font issue just by looking at my game and seeing how tiny the fonts are, and some people seem to have talked about it in the past. So I did some digging in my debug.err file... and I found this: DebugMessage: Failed to load font Trajan Pro-27Bold , substituting default font DebugMessage: Loaded font Tahoma-13 DebugMessage: Failed to load font Trajan Pro-13 , substituting default font DebugMessa
that... sounds like a very fast fix. I thought you were gonna sleep though mr froggie? You've got to be running on adrenaline and caffeine at this point. lol
I also think this is a cool idea. Maybe turn one of the stats into a combo stat with leadership that slightly boosts the power of your army. Would be pretty interesting to have pure-general champions who are very poor in combat (well protected with armor and +health of course) that end up buffing your army to double or perhaps even triple strength. Sort of like the way ME:TW2, and Empire:TW do it, but with stats that are actually readable. Could make sovereigns
Sounds like a firewall or NAT issue. Assuming you're using the correct public ip address (your outside, or external one given by the ISP) theres likely a problem with the ip:port combo in that either the firewall is blocking it or the router is not sure where to forward it Have you tried disabling windows firewall or making sure the proper exception has been made for VNC? Are you sure the port the VNC program on your phone is the correct one forwarded? Almost any time i've eve
For movement, left click on a unit or army and right click where you want it to go. Its pretty standard for as long as I can remember. To have a unit leave a city, click on its portrait when you have the city selected and click the little arrow on top of the portrait, or right click on the ground outside of the city to make him move.
According to Frogboy in this post multiplayer will be out next week. Just relax, they haven't put the servers up yet. They've been working nonstop for the 0day patch that is coming out later today. They don't want to put in the MP until its ready for public consumption.
@Jeslijar I appreciate your response, but as I said before, this "netbook" (I wouldn't classify it as such) handles every game I've thrown at it - including other "CPU-heavy" games - and it has performed admirably. I think the problem I'm having is mostly memory-leak driven, but it could also just be poorly optimized. You don't sound terribly familiar with the M11x, but you should know that it performs incredibly well on every game I'v
