Font Issue

I've been thinking i've been having a font issue just by looking at my game and seeing how tiny the fonts are, and some people seem to have talked about it in the past. So I did some digging in my debug.err file... and I found this:

Any idea why this would be happening? I looked up what Trajan Pro looks like for a font and it looks cool - its definitely not what i'm seeing in game.

I've got a full debug.err if you want it.

 

If any other info is needed. Let me know. My installed copy is from amazon if that makes any difference. Registered and updated through impulse to current version.

I noticed a trajan bold font in my Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental\Fonts folder and right click installed it, but it doesn't seem to fix this, but I tried it anyway. Still showing up as failing to load both trajan pro and trajan pro bold in the debug.err file.

I have asked the same question already. In my case the Arial font causes displacement of written text over the buttons and next to resources.

What resolution are you running at? i'm using 1920x1080 and I don't have issues with text going out of boundaries with the buttons, but I can imagine it may be an issue with smaller resolutions. Maybe the fonts missing means we have a bad install or something considering how few people have an issue. Maybe i'll uninstall and reinstall from impulse only (and not install from my disc at all).

 

 

Other than that...

In my impulse overlay when I log in the mods section has no text whatsoever for any clickable button. I have a feeling it is related to the fonts not loading. 

But I haven't had too many issues in game with fonts other than them looking well... out of place. It just doesn't look nice with such a skinny font for all of the text on the UI, especially the main menu. The font is so narrow its barely a pixel thick.

Another very rare font issue I have is where sometimes there is two lines of text in a mob's portrait when you hover over it on the map screen. You get some kind of weird double text thing where you see something written in black and something written in white. I'll try to take a screenshot next time and put it up here when I run into it. That might not be related to this though.

I'm running at 1680x1050 widescreen and I have reinstalled twice already (including a delete of the My Documents/My Games/Elemental folder) and I have the same problem with double text. I'll try putting a screeny up somewhere, too.

If you're having font issues, try rebooting your machine. Sometimes windows does not properly register fonts right away.

Bingo. You're awesome Kryo, restarting fixed everything :grin: except the double font issue. I'd never have thought it was just an issue with the fonts not installing until you restart. I can actually read what the stuff in the mod section of the impulse overlay in game now! lol.

But the double font thingee is different which after looking closely is a problem with the name text being in the description text area, in the bottom right description box. I dunno why this is happening.

This is how its supposed to work. The grey box above the description area is meant to hold the name:

 

But this is what happens for some reason, to some portraits. The Name of the unit goes down into the description area for some reason.:

And this is what ends up happening, because the name text goes below the name text box thingee it blends in with some units special ability text.

 

Honestly this isn't a major issue imo, but i'm just trying to bring it to light. If any more info is needed. let me know :)

The white text in the infocards should be up in the shaded box below the portrait, that's an issue on our end.
