I like this concept and the sketch especially, just one question. Why is it on graph paper instead of a bar napkin? A good concept cannot be properly displayed on anything but bar napkins, bonus points if it has beer or grease stains.
How do you know the original wasn't done on a bar napkin? Maybe bar napkins just make bad photographs! [e digicons][/e]

Well, the year is 1781. I went WAY ahead of schedule. Declared war on the Ottomans in '67, had all my troops to India by '70. In '78 the last of the Mysore fell, leaving me in control off all of Europe, the middle east coridor, and all of India. Started sending my armies to the New World by '80, and now in 81 some fleets are starting to arrive. If all goes well I can take all of the world by 1799. The biggest problem I am encountering now is the problem of the ships crashing the game.
None of this is rocket science
Well of course its not, its economics! And it is not a moral issue. It is an economic issue. Bad company decisions = lower profits. The problem is, they do not understand the basic economics involved. What they are doing is essentially increasing the price (by adding the grief which comes with DRM) and expecting the demand to increase. In reality this leads to a lower demand, not highe
Hehe, zoomed in the alpha graphics look somewhat like Runescape. Especially those dead trees.
Just tell her the M stands for Mature. Then ask her flat out if she thinks you are mature.
You're going to need to clarify this, because it sounds like you want all your games/etc for free.
I think my post clarifies it a bit better... He has a problem with paying for something that costs a company no money to make his copy. Paying for something physical makes sense, because there are large material, refinement, and production costs. Paying for digital material is a bit more in the grey area, since the only c
Oh noes! XBOX! I don't wanna pay for every update [e digicons]8O[/e]
Benjamin Franklin had much to say on the issue... There are various quotes from him such as He who is willing to trade freedom for safety deserves neither.
I do understand. I think paying for copies of software is wrong in principle. When I pay for games, I do so because there's currently no alternative way of supporting developers.
Thus we come to the root of the problem. This issue is not unique to software, but just about any other product of technology. There is a high fixed cost associated with the initial research or creation of the technology/software/produ
Hehe, the funniest thing I can remember recently was an 8 year old kid playing Left 4 Dead (M rated) online. He said it was his favorite game! [e digicons][/e]
No, there is also some other rune stuff scattered about. The teaser trailer has rune wrods for example. I translated them by reverse engineering Condarf's translations. Turns out they just say things related to the main english title that appears.
Off topic is across all forums... But judging from your post, you are talking about SoaSE in particular since GalCiv2 already has this option. I would not be to suprised if this feature does appear in Sins, since the next mini x-pac after Entrenchment will be about diplomacy and the peaceful side of the game.
Just make sure to research programming books before purchase... Most of them I have are worthless peices of junk.
I have heard EA has had some layoffs... Perhaps they realized their old business model isn't working. *sound of the entire world laughing in the background at the idea of EA changing their ways* Ah well, we can always hope. Shadow, here is another option: They are making Sims 3 easy to pirate, but the xpacs for it will be chock full of DRM to try to force all the people who have Sims 3 and want the xpacs into buying them in an attempt to make even more money.
Actually, I have pulled that off sometimes... It is all about making the enemy army flee before they get a chance to charge in and muck things up. Some nice far range artillery is good for that. Also, I think it takes tech into account way to much. The Austrian's full armies I could easily crush with autoresolve while the British armies would take 2 of my armies for a gaurenteed victory. In other news, ever since the latest patch my game has been crashing a bunch. Also noticed a glitc

Of the 5 or so "mature" rated games I have, there is really nothing any more mature about them than any of my other games. Most of them get rated "mature" due to having "dirty" language, "drug use," as well as blood and gore. As far as language goes, I challenge you to walk around a high school. I can gaurentee yo

OnLive = epic fail unless it comes with free fiber optic cables to attach directly to their servers. The worst part would be when your internet is down (as ours frequently is, and we don't have the cheap stuff) you won't be able to play any of the games you bought.
In short, no. Most games now adays are lucky if they can get released on time and be finished when they are released. Adding more dev work load is a bad idea.
Or better yet, be a game dev! All the perks of getting to play with high tech weaponry without the downsides (such as being blown up by said weaponry).
What I did when building my computer was start with a list of parts in PC Gamer magazine's "Hard Stuff" section. They have lists of parts for low, medium, and high end systems. Those can give you a fairly decent starting point from which to improvise based on budget. If nothing else it helps you get a foothold into how good different parts are. And before you buy anything, make sure everything is compatible. Nothing will ruin your fun faster than finding out after the fact that you don't have
Yes, the sales and revenue does not add up. By the looks of it by 'revenue' he means profit.
As far as the Empire Total War engine goes, I would say it is the same base engine that was used for previous total war games, it just has a few more features and updated graphics. Of the coding from the previous total war game, I would guess around 50-75% of the coding remained unchanged. What I think more companies need to do for their strategy games is adopt the zoom scalability so wonderfully captured in SoaSE and GalCiv 2. In total war, you can only see part of your empire at a t
