As did I, i think race will be an entirely different thing from what kind of magic your channeler uses. What i fail to understand is, in an earlier journal entry brad said we are starting out as just a channeler and we are to pick up people as we go along right? Maybe if we choose to use life over death, "kingdoms" will be more likely to join us and vice versa?
I would very much like to see champion- or special unit-based research (both mundane and magical) that is connected to the caravan network. I would enjoy, for example, recruiting a truly amazing but delicate research champion who might best be protected by isolation in a distant fortress. Assuming there are no magical communication methods available by default, there will be at least a period where a new spell from said researcher has a 'ti
So i guess this means no SMAC research then? I was really hoping to see, since such a drastic change to the economy was being made that we would see something different in research as well, and I sincerely feel that an upgraded SMAC research is the best way to go. Please, hear me out, research may or may not be done at one location, it could be nationwide. The problem is, is that research, especially considering the era (and the fantasy genre) is made up of accidents or major bre

Researching 3 things at once seems to be an interesting difference from other 4x games! I was wondering since you guys were rethinking 4x economies if you were going to rethink how research is performed as well? Thanks for the update, Frogboy!
Quoting Scoutdog, reply 21 Would not go terribly well with the new resource system, but mutate potions could be used to provide the same effect, and yet be treated as a resource... If you're talking about an analog to MoM's Chaos Channels, I don't see a problem here. Producing a unit is one thing, and casting an enchantment on it after it is produced is another. thank you kyro and zyxpsilon for your quick responses [e digicons][/e] kyro, what is it that you do for stardock? i was just wondering because i remember seeing a lot of posts from you (i believe) back when GalCiv 2 was coming out?
Definitely sent back 300 years, although i'd probably do something that would cause those pilgrims to deem me a wizard and get myself burned at the stake [e digicons]^_^[/e] Would you rather be abducted by aliens and tested upon or haunted by a ghost?
Hello all, I have been browsing these forums for awhile, and have posted a little bit here and there- my ideas and such. Recently on Boogiebac's twitter i watched these two timelapse videos: Dragon Fountain Spider Web I just graduated high school, and am currently looking into colleges to attend in the coming year or so. This kind of thing interest me so much and I wanted to know jus
Well in his last post, Brad stated that the shadows were not in yet for the screens, and that makes a huge difference in the presentation, but as for overall style i think they are going to keep this look (based on things Boogiebac has said). Personally I like the look, but thats just the way with everything. Some people are going to be happy, others arent. You will still be able to play the whole game from the map view tho if you like the game play, thats what i recommend [e digicons]
Im going to be optimistic and say June 26th [e digicons][/e]
Back on topic, I wouldn't mind seeing a whole set of Moon spells, both destructive and constructive. Seems like they should last for just a month, though. (Not that I expect to be entirely happy with however the calendar/turn system works out.)
I could see this too, but what element of magic would this fall under? Earth perhaps?
I've only got one that hasn't already been asked, units we have seen so far (in pictures that the devs have shown us) only seem to have one soldier/worker per unit... I was hoping to see more per unit similar to master of magic which had 4-6 soldiers per unit, so basically: How many figures (number of troops) per unit can we expect to see in the final game? Similar to that of MoM?

But maybe if you incorporated a sanity level of your channeler that I think Luckmann mentiioned in passing somewhere before.. ??
Well we don't know anything yet, but I tend to agree most with Swicord. I too, loved the discussions about a succession system but I think there are many ways to go about it also. Such as during artifact creation, a Channeler could imbue it with a decent amount of essence and give it to a hero. Upon the untimely death of said Channeler, the hero could then take that artifact to a specific area on the map... say the Fires of Seyrdris (See E

Since this post has been bumped i feel like putting down a few of my ideas, most of them based on my experience with Master of Magic and what always irked me, I apologize if I repeat aforementioned items but here goes: 1) Defense in battle based on terrain (!!)- I'd imagine this has become pretty common place in strategy games (My only experience is % values in Civ) but I think it could go much deeper, such as troops posted behind trees can't be hit by arrows as easily.

I haven't read the series, but I just looked it up on RPG.net and it sounds like it fits very well in what the devs seem to be going for! I especially like how the "gods", in our case the channelers, are able to elevate mortals to godling status (the first of six levels), and then that former mortal has to ascend the ladder to become more powerful. I especially liked this line from the site: <p
