Well the game is going to have customizable units much like galciv, but i suppose that's not what you mean... To tell you the truth, when you said "a range of stats" it reminded me of x-com, and how none of your soldiers had a "back story", but you got attached to them just because of their unique differences in their stats and how they performed in the field (at least i did) and I think that's a very important thing in these kinds of games: Personalized over standardized. We want to feel tha

I got it to work, turns out my computer had reverted to an earlier date, and i just had to unistall/reinstall steam to get it to play. Thank you for offering your help tho! [e digicons][/e]
The tactical battles for Elemental are often compared to Total War and X-com
I've never played Total War, but speaking of X-com, i bought it off Steam the other day because of the comparison made above and might i say it is a great game! I understand why its been voted a couple of times as the best game of all time. I love the tactical battles, the fact that your people dont always die when they get shot but for a second yo

The second option is what i picked as well. Id like to see stardock attempt something fresh and new even if it were to fail, then of course id also like the option to turn it off just in case..... [e digicons]:P[/e]

[e digicons]|-)[/e] If i wanted to be a game artist/animator one day what would you recommend i go off to school to study? I've been looking at graphic design but i don't know if thats specific enough? Thanks again!
A 'soft' counterspell mechanic, on the other hand, would be great. Depending on the relative strengths of the magic users involved, countering an opponent's magic will reduce the effects of the opponent's spell. A mage countering an equal mage's spell should counter it completely, at equal cost of the countered spell. There would obviously be lots of modifying attributes - proficiency in the school, magical strength, all that juicy stuff.

Umm, well that's very interesting and I think you already answered it by saying:
...this would very much be decided by how the Sovereign themselves want to be seen.
I think it comes down to what type of people you are leading and what the Channeler makes themselves out to be. In truth, a wizard and a priest in a fantasy setting aren't too far apart. basically i think it just comes down to the type of magic they focus on.

Well there was a really big discussion about research with tons of great ideas in the later pages of one of Frogboy's posts As for your other point, we haven't heard much, but Im hoping for this as well. I think it would be cool to use the terrain on the battlefield as natural shields and those would have to be destroyed before you could be hit. Ex. I could post some swordsmen behind a tree, and the e
I agree, and EWOM certainly is giving the channeler a central role in the game - if it is even possible I would say even moreso than MoM!
With essence and all, i would have to agree. It will be interesting to see how conquered cities will react, will there be a benefit to building a Fallen warrior instead of my regular ones much like there were different benefits per race in MoM?
By continuous turns, do you mean real-time with a pause function (like Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Nights etc.)?
Brad said to try the Corporate Machine to see what continuous turns are like, but i haven't been able to get it up and running. I believe its probably like Baldur's Gate, never played nights
Well, the anwer to that is either "as many as you have sowrds for", or "0", depending on whether or not there is a one-turn porduction lag as in GC2.
I would love for it to be "as many as you have swords for", that would be incredible. The minimum of 1 turn, such as for drafted units in Civ, is getting old in TBSs

I can agree with both sides here. In my opinion, i like to see realism in games, to an extent of making the game more enjoyable. I want to feel like i am actually in charge of a nation, or that my life (as a channeler) is important, and realism is necessary to make that happen. This is mostly why i was excited to hear we might get a more advanced economy in this game. I want my game to be fun and unpredictable, realism can make that happen too (through random events, etc.) because life i
