It's classy and distinctive, unlike nearly every other box on the shelf. If there was a shelf. I always did like that picture because it conveys a sense of wonder and possibility to me, and after all this time it's certainly burned into my mind as the image of Elemental. It may be that another image would be better, but I wouldn't stray from this style. That box art for Disciples 2 says a lot about why I never looked at the game. Also, is anyone else really annoyed by
I'm having the same issue. Unchecking "Disable Depth of Field" in the video options prevents the crashes for me, but viewing the research screen still slows the game to a crawl. (until I restart)
I got an email saying the free 5-day reactivation offer would expire in a few days, so I went ahead and did it. I noticed they're also offering me a $5 discount on the first month; I don't know if I'll go for it, but at least I can log in and poke around for a bit. Looks like I have a fair bit of stuff left over from last time. 3 mil isk, 10 mil skillpoints, a mining barge and destroyer, and a whole lot of random loot from who-knows-where scattered across the entire region. I should p
I was going to say "Holy thread necro batman!" but then I realized who did the bumping. [e digicons][/e] I think I'm going to try that gnocchi one soon. I'm trying to cut back on processed foods, but I never really learned how to cook anything else. An easy recipe like this is a great help.
So effectively there are more than two races but only 2 species?
Only two natural sentient species: humans and dragons. There are other sentient species, but they're all artificially created. I'm guessing they're either humans and dragons modified beyond recognition (The Fallen), or other animal species uplifted to sentience through magical means.

In the distance lightning flashes, revealing a vast, churning mass of terrified people. Most are panicked, screaming, desperately trying to cover their eyes. O
Just watched the trailer. Netdevil's last project (Auto Assault) greatly disappointed me, but I'm hoping they've finally gotten that whole "HAY GUISE LETS MAKE A WOW CLONE LOL" thing out of their system. It they shift the focus of the game away from quests and level-grinding and steer it more towards socialization and emergent gameplay (you know, the things MMO games are actually good at ), then maybe they'll really pull this off. I was hoping for something more like Erfworld mechanics. The initial city site is the garrison, control of which determines ownership of the city. Walls provide a large defense bonus, but once an area is breached, the enemy can bypass the wall at that point and attack adjacent areas without the defenders gaining the wall bonus.
EVE is a weird game. I tried it for a month when it was released, liked the depth and cerebral focus, but got a big dose of that "$15/mo screensaver" feeling and quit. Tried it again a year later, even joined a friend's corp this time, but the same thing happened after a while. I keep being tempted to go back, though. The flying part could be better, but the market stuff is insane . I liked how every ship and piece of equipment on the server was actually made by someone. It ma

I didn't hear anything especially new or unusual in the video, except maybe that they're providing official servers while still supporting private ones, instead of doing either/or like most companies. Other than that, it looks like the same multiplayer matchmaking used by pretty much every game ever. You're kidding right? Name one strategy game that works like this. One.
&n

Am I the only one who thinks we need new words for self-propelling space machines? Ones that don't end in -ship or -craft? If it's on the ground we call it a vehicle. Or, more specifically, a car, truck, tank, etc. If it's in the water we call it a boat, ship, vessel, craft, or submarine. If it's in the air, we call it a plane, jet, helicopter, glider, fighter, bomber... If it's in space we call it...what? Star-ship? Space-craft? Space-fighter? It's a completel
I was really looking forward to this game, but if it's only on Steam then I probably won't be buying it. I already have Orange Box on there, and that's all the money I'm willing to put into a service that enables my games to potentially be stolen from me. (hackers, phishers, Valve enforcing ex post facto rules again, etc.)

I'm really glad the devs are working so hard on the "city experience". It's just the sort of oft-neglected, extra-mile feature that turns a good game into an extroardinary one. Here are my most memorable video game cities: Ascalon (Guild Wars) It started out looking like your typical generic happy fantasy city, but then the Searing happened and the place got blasted so hard the entire kingdom turned into a barren wasteland. Green lawns and tan cobblest
A few thoughts: 1.Can quests be triggered by certain combinations of events? Neglecting a certain set of technologies for many turns, having certain buildings together in the same city, being militarily weak when encountering a dragon, etc. "It seems that erecting a series of ratty inns next to our farm is not conducive to creating a large harvest. Shall I call for someone to deal with the rodent problem, sire?" "It appears that the frequent magical teleportation of yo

And yes, it kinda stinks to lose your progress, but the GW team is fairly commited to keeping the grind to a minimum so hopefully you'll spend more time exploring this jaw-dropping world lookig for fun and optional stuff to do as opposed to just grinding mobs/quests to raise your level. Tonight's episode was better. Somewhat predictable, but at least we're finally getting somewhere. Will be interesting to see how things play out from here, so long as they stop abusing the stones.
Charr with guns... That's kinda scary. I'm still a little upset that all the world-saving we did in GW1 gets undone, but this new video helped. The new architectural styles help reinforce the fact that a really long time has passed, giving some much needed distance from the events of the previous game. Would have been nice if dwarves were still around, too. I really would have enjoyed playing a booze-crazed Armokian fortress dwarf.
