I honestly don't know which way I would prefer to go on this issue. I think I would enjoy either one. Dwarf Fortress-style random generators can be lots of fun, as anyone who has played the game will tell you. Their forums are full of tales of strange occurances and unexpectedly appropriate names. There are some really awesome stories in their community archive. The problem (or great strength, depending on your perspective) is that nothing in the game's world has any inherent meaning.

Mostly Guild Wars. I still needed to finish the Nightfall campaign, and my brother needed to get to the victory area to craft some armor, so we teamed up to obliterate the boss after our first embarrassing attempt at dance-fighting it to death. After poking around on the official website, I'm starting to have some doubts about this game. I like the concept, the graphics are nice but not expensive-upgrade nice, and it sure does look like Tribes, but the weapon/vehicle/deployable lists look an awful lot like Halo. The weapons are very generic-looking, and almost all of them are kinetic. Almost nothing does appreciable splash damage, whereas in Tribes 2 almost everything made big explosions. Ah. I remember seeing that "Elemental Animals" piece before, but for some reason I didn't recognize the fox without the other three. I played a fair bit tonight. Only against weak AI so far, and I never played DotA, but I think I'm starting to get a feel for the game. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a full game, though.
