@ scoutdog: Your ideas unnecessrily complicate the game. Are you saying that if I want to be a fire mage I have to go conquer a desert, as opposed to simply a shard that could be anywhere? What if I want to take away my enemies ability to cast water spells? Rather than concentrating on a few strategic points I instead have to destroy the entirety of thier coastal presence... The idea of shards is that you have a concentrated source of magic that can be fought over, as opposed to haveing it ev

Eh... I don't like drawing so many conclusions from a few pics. I did notice 2 things. 1: Im likeing where the graphics are going! 2: Look at the back ground in the more level screens (the first is a good example). Its really nice, very "endless" looking.

Even if hes not as valuable, losing your favored heir will probably piss you off on a personal level more than losing a major city.

This sounds good! How complex is the changing process I wonder? If I suddenly want my entire spear army to wield axes for whatever reason, do i have to take them to a well developed city and upgrade or just throw some gold at them and call it a day?

Make it a mix on several levels Magic tech should be random but you shouldn't be able to get better spells until youve researched their pre-reqs (Like AoW:SM) Regular tech weve seen screnes for and it seems likely that youll have a linear tree up to a point, afterword you can likely continue investing for "+1+ style benefits. That or random (I say this because they already said thier will be infinite techs) Beta's only a few weeks away. soon we can get a

Isn't that just like that horrible pirate mechanic in Sins? Good god no, maybe for a mod I guess, but I would never want to be forced to play with that kind of system...
I would like to agree with what is being said here, but when I look at King's Bounty: The Legend, I think it will age great too, especially considering the high quality of animations and various spell effects in combat, but Elemental art style so far looks devoid of content and details, like I said before realism is not the issue, nor that it is cartoonish, but what kind of cartoonish, I hope that is obvious to everyone.
devoid of content and details: You mean the thing

Whats worse is that the game isn't yet at a point where one could realistically expect gameplay vids. On top of all of that, I would play a 2d game if its gameplay was good enough.
Does anyone know when the last day to pre-order and still get into Beta 1 is?
I am praying it is rolling. I preordered early august, I feel I should get in Beta 1. It would be silly to lock people out, especially because as the word spreads more people will want to join in. One other thing: when does the preorder money get withdrawn? At the beggining of beta or when the game is released?

You guys might be surprised to hear this but I Have a 3.9 GPA in college. Have over 200 PC and 360 games. Play DND and other tabletop RPG's. HOWEVER, I play them with my Girlfriend (a nerd chick), was captain of my highschool football team, and lift weights. Being a "nerd" or a "jock" is just a lame excuse to not see the other side because you are afraid. Open your mind, this "us vs them" philosophy is silly and backwards.
Trailer should be close to 100% gameplay with possibly a little cinematics - I thought Empire:TW did a GREAT trailer and granted it had quite a lot of cinematics but they also had a lot of well scripted gameplay that spliced nicely into the cinematics. but I think even Empire:TW is over the top and too much for EWOM. Whatever they do should be in house, they certainly don;t need to pay another studio for some godly trailer or intro movie.
Something you should
So does this mean that Elemental won't have cinematics like World of WarCraft: Wrath of the Lich King where there comes a new trailer every 6 months or so?? How much did those trailers cost btw? I always thought trailers costed like max $10.000:- and then you come and say $500.000:- !!! Just incredible!!
Lol... and to think I never even saw them.
I liked the Age of Wonders intro, which maybe had a budget between $500 and $5000. Much better than the sequel's intro, I thought. Overall I find game trailers annoying, as they generally cater to speed junkies with severe ADD who are trying to artificially induce an epileptic seizure as well.
lol. Nicely put. AoW's trail was good, basic but not pointless. Thats all you need, just give the idea of the game and call it a day.

And when did the Devs say that they wanted to make a game in 8 bit with 16 colors and not make a trailor?
